Hey guys tapatalk had been not a how in me avatars forever and I just realized I still have mine up from BI Halloween. Lol. Yeah I'll be changing that soon. Don't know to what but definitely not dressed up Adidas pants. Lmao
Trying to get caught up here. I've been lurking with not much time to post.
ampaints Sorry to hear about the cost of orthotics. Deductibles suck. How did the appointment go? I hope you're able to see some benefit quickly so you feel like that money was well spent!
mommabakes, I hope your DS is feeling better this week. Don't beat yourself up about the tight budget with you staying home. You're doing an incredibly important job by caring for your children. Day care certainly isn't cheap, and the budget might not look much different than it does now if you had to pay for care for both kids. When I groan at our current budget, I try to remind myself that this too shall pass. I won't always be paying for child care. Maybe someday I'll have money again, lol!
noname, It must be so stressful to be looking for a new OB at 7 months pregnant. I hope you're able to find someone you're comfortable with. How have you been feeling? Do you have a name picked out for this baby girl yet?
@janetheconquerer I'm so sorry about all the medical stuff. That appointment sounds really overwhelming and it's a lot of information to take in. Would it be helpful to get a second opinion, especially since this wasn't a direct referral from your primary care doctor? Or maybe call your PCP to run this new diet by them to see if they concur? I hope the biopsy and blood work don't turn up anything new. Also, how is the plumbing issue at your house? Were they able to solve it without ripping up your new floor? And that surfacing screw-up at work was epic. I got a good laugh from the picture. Any contractor who tried to say that there wasn't a problem with that was just bullshitting and hoping the issue would go away if they denied it, lol!

I was kind of wondering why you hadn't changed it lol!
Abigail has started this new thing where she hits me in the face anytime I do something she doesn't like and then gives me a kiss after I sternly tell her no or tell her that's she's hurt me and needs to use gentle touch. She spent a whole diaper change today trying to kick and hit me and then give me kisses. This is getting old fast. It's a good thing this kid is cute.
On the plus side, she's been dancing more and has learned to stomp her feet and clap her hands while we read Barnyard Dance. It's adorable.
aydee it will be about two weeks before we actually get his orthotics. I hope we see results quickly. He's really wanting to walk, and is doing so assisted by us, a walker, or just cruising more than he's crawling.
M sounds like a drunk who has the giggles. He's doing this high pitched laugh in his crib while he is laying on his back holding his toes. It's adorable, but it's 1am 😒
@mrspanpan I feel you, some days are better than others for reading with us as well. He busted H's lip the other night throwing a book when he just wasn't in the mood to be read to.
c was up every hour until i finally gave him advil since he was moaning the entire time. he then snuggled and rocked back to sleep with me. a ended up in our bed earlier and h was pissed. i dgaf as he wasn't budging at all to help with either kid. fo and deal with it was my motto last night.
today my stomach is killing me. i think from all the stress i'm under lately. i am also driving out to legoland for a site visit. it's 1.5 hours away and the site visit will likely be about 20 mins.
@mrspanpan, ampaints, you can also work on their words when not reading. we go for walks and our conversations are like this:
me: Caden do you see the trees (points to trees and waits for him to look) can you say trees? C: rees me: Caden do you hear the birds (he looks in direction of birds and points) can you say birds? C: blankly stares at me than says uck and points to the van on the street. me: oh you see the truck. that's right. high five buddy!
everysingleday on our walks that is the conversation over and over and over.
just keep trying ladies. they will get there! we just taught him yellow (wello) and touchdown (ouchow and he puts his hands in the air than touches his head).
Oh man you deserve l the coffee @janetheconquerer. Sorry you had to take care of both kids last night. And although Legoland sounds fun that drive does not. Maybe you can hang out a bit and look for Christmas gifts. Or I don't know maybe Legoland isn't as fun without kids. Hopefully your day doesn't suck is what I'm saying.
@janetheconquerer I do the same things on our walks. Although, w just replies with "yes" when I ask him if he can say a word "tree, bird, squirrel, cat, etc). Spoiler he cannot say any of these words.
You can also pretend you're on a cooking show with the kids. I put walt in the high chair when I cook meals and I give him a couple spoons to bang or some play dough (I have a great safe recipe), and then I just describe every action I'm doing while I cook (measure this, pour that, have him smell the garlic and spices, etc). I even let him stir or pour if I can. I just keep up a steady conversation for 30-40 minutes about the meal we're going to eat. Or sometimes I turn on music and just sing to him. Literacy activities just involve thw words your kids hear. The more words the better.
W took a chunk out of his nostril motn. He's got a huge scratch. I cut this kids nails twice a week. I swear I'm going to put him back in those newborn mittens.
Oh we do all those things as well. I have a running conversation with him. Even when I'm driving I'm pointing things out our commenting on what I see him doing on the mirror. Kid is not highly motivated to talk, but he'll get there. When he's gesturing for me to do something I'm asking him if he wants xyz. I've noticed lately he'll mouth what I'm saying at times. I try to repeat it a few times, sometimes he says it and other times he moves on to the next thing.
I think if you're doing other literacy activities then you don't have to worry if your kid doesn't like books. They're getting their words in other ways.
Hi all! I took a break from my phone last week and I'm still catching up here. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Mine was extremely low-key, which is just what I needed. We only had my BIL, niece, and BIL's GF over and everyone was gone before 5. It was glorious not to have to entertain people the whole day.
But, both my kids are sick and H has a man cold. Please send all the wine.
Is anyone else having a hard time getting into the holiday spirit this year? I don't want to listen to holiday music or put up a tree. The only thing I'm mildly interested in is cookie making, and that's because we traditionally drink champagne while we're doing it.
hey there joi922!! Glad you had a great Thanksgiving. I am actually the opposite this year, I am ready for the holidays! Maybe it's because the kids are acting different about it, I don't know. But what I do know, is that I need to make cookies with you.
Also, racist coworker is still posting shit on FB. It was part of the reason for my break from all things phone-related last week. I've taken to keeping my door closed to avoid interacting with her at all. I just can't look at her anymore.
