So I have a new niece (yay!), and her parents were originally planning on naming her Kellee. Well, apparently that wasn't youneek enough. Kelleigh is just so much better.
Unfortunately, no. She's here and named. I doubt my brothers girlfriend would listen to reason anyway. My brother has said that he doesn't like the name, but it was used anyway.

oh no that is so unfortunate. Is it pronounced like Kelly? It's painful when someone you know irl picks a terrible name. I'm sure your niece is precious though.
Yes it is pronounced Kelly, which is brother's gf's dad's middle name. So even weirder that's it's misspelled. She is cute though! The photo my dad sent seriously would make a great "WTF" meme. I would never do that with my niece's pic, though!
Using -eigh to make a long 'e' sound is my number one name pet peeve. I before E except after C out when making the sound of an A as in neighbor or weigh people!!

Lol DH keeps pronouncing it kel-LAY, because that's how that spelling should be pronounced. (And only to me, of course.)

ha ha! Is your DH a name nerd too?
Yes and no. He hates made up names, youneek spellings, and boy names on girls. He's not interested in the etymology behind names, though, and he doesn't love names the way I do. He's also a bit of a nameblocker; he only really likes familiar names as first names. Luckily, though, he's ok with unusual names for a middle.

That's how I was pronouncing it in my head. Poor girl, no souvenir key chairs for you.
