E has always been a frequent pooper. Typical days he goes 3-4 times. This week has been off, though. He always used to go first thing in the morning. Tuesday he didn't and it was like 5pm before he went and then we had like 6 poops within 2 hours (basically 100% liquid/mucous and especially smelly). Today is the first time he's never gone. No poops today. He was grunting and groaning hard this afternoon, but we got nothing more than a shart. Nothing in my diet has changed. The only thing different is that I went back to work, so he's getting more bottles... idk if that makes a difference. I know it's "normal" for EBF babies to go up to a week with no BM, but it's not normal for E. What has me most concerned is that he's grunting like he's trying to go, just can't. Any suggestions, words of wisdom, tell me to stop worrying, whatever! Thanks, ladies!

I have no idea if there's actually a connection or if it's a coincidence, but R seems to poop less if I haven't been drinking enough water. Just something I've noticed over the past few days - he had been pooping less frequently and I had been doing a crappy job drinking enough water.
And while maybe it's just a coincidence since I have no clue if there even could be a link, but I drank a ton of water yesterday and he's had 3 big "catch up" poops in the past 6-7 hours.
LadyNymeria that could definitely be it. I'm horrible about drinking enough water. Thanks for the suggestion.
I wonder if too much coffee could do it? I try to limit myself to a cup a day but lately it's been 2... idk.
Babies will be affected differently by coffee, but I average 2-4 cups a day, spread throughout the day. R does not seem affected at all so hopefully it's not the coffee for you either.
Drinking more water seems to fix a lot of things so hopefully it works for you!

DD was EBF and she would sometimes go a while without pooping. I would give her more tummy time and try to bicycle her legs and do tummy massages. Idk if they helped much, but it seemed to make her feel better till she pooped.
