I'll be rushing around today with DS while DD is in daycare. Tomorrow we're headed to my hometown just for 1 night. So I have to pack, fill the gas in the car, get the garbage ready to go our tomorrow morning and make sure there's no dishes sitting around. I finally get to see my BFF on Friday. I haven't seen her in person since DD was 4 months old. So 2 years ago. That'll be nice!
Good morning! I am bringing H to preschool today because they are having a Christmas party. She will only be there from 9-12, during which time I will either make a small grocery run or clean, I haven't decided yet.
First off, idk how people with only one family car do it. We are down to one while my H's car is worked on, and I feel trapped in the house. We hardly go anywhere anyway, but now the option is taken away and it's driving me insane. Also, we need groceries bad. (Eta, first world problems)
Second, I think I'm going to pick up one of those miracle 360 cups and make that another stocking stuffer.

Ryan had pj day at daycare which was cute but the kids were all hyper and it was a bit much for him so he stayed in her arms most of it. She sent him home with a Christmas gift which was super sweet, a Little People helicopter and a wooden puzzle, plus made a card for us with his handprint. So cute!!! Dh is off to a doctor appointment and I have a few small errands to run, so once nap time is over we're going to take a walk to the post office and bank.

Oh. I'm thinking of enrolling him for day care just a few times a month once he hits a year old. Just so I can have a few days to myself and he can be around non-mom people and all that. But, if I do that, should I expect a lot of new illnesses to hit us off the bat?

DH and I did one car for about 4 or 5 years. But we live somewhere with lots of public transportation options and always in walkable communities. We had to get a second car when DD was on the way. I don't know how I would get around with all the things babies need, plus the possibility of getting stuck with a baby at a bus stop or on a train during a delay is pretty scary.

We only have 1 car. But H doesn't drive, so I have it with me at all times. He's used to walking everywhere anyway, so it works out for us
As for daycare, probably on the illnesses thing. It's what happened with DD as she only started this September at 2 years old

My DH doesn't drive either! There are definitely times it would be convenient but at least the car is always mine. ;-)

Today I picked up solid pieces of poop off a crib sheet. There really is a first for everything.
I'm going into the city today to take one of my old students out to lunch. Her mom didn't tell her I'm coming, so it will be a surprise. I'm so excited!

Not necessarily. I think all kids are different as far as if they are more prone to catching everything or not. It's not like he's been exposed to nothing. I wouldn't let that discourage you from doing it. He'll end up in preschool/school sooner than later and he's not medically fragile.

🤔 Do I really want to know.........
How did this happen?
A mixed state of matter blow out. Most of it was in the diaper but some escaped.I guess I should just be thankful he didn't realize it and try it pick it up. Yuck.
Morning! Kids are at daycare. I did my grocery/Walmart run. I will still have to go to the store on Friday morning to get buns and fruit and veggies, since it would be questionable if they would last/stay fresh from today until Sunday around here. But the bulk of what I needed is done and it'll be easier to haul both kids with me for just a few items on Friday.
Now I need to do some cleaning, putting clutter away, etc. We removed a tv wall mount (finally-from forever ago) and I need to touch up the paint where that was.
We are supposed to get a massive amount of snow on Christmas Day. Ugh. As if we don't have enough. I'm just so thankful we don't have to do ANY traveling on Christmas.

I always had the car. MH took public transport. But we are winter wimps and bought a second car last month after that first snow.

We just moved to an area that needs cars and are getting a second one ASAP. If one of us takes the car the other one is stuck with nothing nearby except a state park. And we are in the hills so we can't even take our bikes. Can't wait for the second car!
britterrss that's interesting that you got a second car during winter - I VASTLY preferred public transportation in winter weather. My coworkers that took cars would constantly be late or would have to work from home due to bad weather while I zoomed right in!

I think so. From what I've heard as soon as the baby goes to daycare, preschool, or kindergarten there is a bunch of illnesses their immune systems battle right away. V got her first big sickness immediately after starting daycare, and has been sick every other week at least. Now she's home with me for a few weeks since daycare is closed and she's healthy!

Yep. But it's better he's sick as a baby/toddler than when he starts school, right?
I don't want to deal with him being sick all the time. Not now, not ever. I'm in denial, lol.
And yes, we don't live in the city so there's no public transportation, not that I would go that route anyway. I'm used to having a car (pub trans is simply not a big thing in Wisconsin, period) and being able to leave and come back whenever I please and not deal with people. In the warm months, necessities like groceries are close enough we can walk, but not in this weather.
And um, the 18m pants I recently bought that seemed too big last time I tried, well they fit perfectly now, so I guess problem solved. Both my H and I have been saying he suddenly feels bigger, like a growth spurt. Guess we were right.
Morning ladies! I took a sick day for the mastitis, baby is watching Daniel Tiger, and I'm eating a croissant. Just need to get enough energy to start making the Christmas cookies.

You really just never know. DD has had a couple snotty noses. She dodged the hfm that went all around our daycare. DS has had hfm once but he got it from our nephew. They played very closely together when my nephew was contagious and we didn't know he had hfm, his mom thought he was teething. Other than that, DS has been extremely healthy. Knock on wood. The kid is turning 4 and has never been on an antibiotic.
Also I don't get the whole thing of kids being sick young and getting it over with before they go to school. One time my friend posted on fb that her son was sick (and he is constantly) and someone wrote, "At least he'll have a rockstar immune system when he goes to kindergarten!" I don't really buy that. I understand the logic that your immune system builds up. But in my (not personal experience but with people I know) opinion, some kids are just prone to pick up everything and some not. I know people whose kids are well into school and still get sick often.

I think people prefer kids to be sick before school age because skipping school sucks much more than skipping a day of daycare. At least for us the sicknesses are due to V putting everything in her mouth. She got mobile very early and straight up eats shoes, dirt, etc. Daycare has told us that other kids, especially ones that use pacifiers, don't put things in their mouths as much as V. I'm hopeful that now that she's walking and eating less random crap she'll be healthier!

Yeah they are obviously putting germs straight to the source!! DS is a thumb sucker, well both kids are, so I've read that thumb suckers can be healthier because of the consistency of putting things in their mouth and exposing their body. I've also read that having pets, like a dog, can actually help too, as they drag stuff in and kids are exposed and their bodies learn to fight stuff off.
