Toddler and Preschooler Check-in (12/21)

DS is 14.5 months

Lots and lots of one-word talking.

I don't know what's up, but for about the first hour or so that he is home from DC, he has been a bear. Doesn't want milk, doesn't want ANY type of food, doesn't want to be held, can't be left by himself. I feel like DH and I are just stuck in a circus act trying to make the kid happy. Once he calms down, the rest of the night he's an absolute joy to be around. It's just trying to get him to calm down.

We were on the couch, and a commercial for a steakhouse came on. DS perked up, made this "ah" sound, then made the sign for food/eat. I said "do you want some food, something to eat?" And he got all excited, and started walking toward the kitchen. It literally blows my mind that he's learning how to interact w/ us.

FINALLY feeling 100% after being sick. You know, just in time to be run down by the holidays...

That being said, I'm so ready for some time off and be w/ my family. Just have to make it through today and tomorrow at work!

QOTW: Shopping is done, shipping is done, now I just have to wrap the gifts for the family we'll be seeing. No doubt I'll wait to start that until Thursday or Friday

Milestones: Again, nothing much to speak of.

Challenges: She's been pretty good lately! Maybe she's keeping it in check for Santa

Funny/cute stories: We keep telling her she has to wear a dress to Christmas Eve mass, and then afterward she can wear whatever she wants. Well, my MIL got her this adorable little outfit and now she's pushing me about what to wear to church. Finally yesterday she said, "Okay, Mommy, I'll wear the dress. But in the car I'm changing into snowman outfit for Nanny's! Then, Christmas I'mma wear that new outfit from Great Aunt." My little fashionista! She already schooled me on her hair styles for each outfit, too.

How are you? Tired (what's new?!) and kind of ready to get to Christmas Day already. We're hosting, so it's the only day I have that requires no travel. Softpants all day for the win!

Anything else? Stressing about money. Again... is Christmas spending over yet?

QOTW: I have grocery shopping to do on Friday, some nuts and barks to make on Friday/Saturday, and I have a few gifts left to get for MH. I *think* that's it. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but at this point if it's not done, it ain't gonna be.

Challenges: Same as above

Funny/cute stories: DD isn't a huge eater but loves cheeseburgers. The other night she saw me putting them on the grill and squeaked "Oh mommy! CHEESEBURGERS! I love cheeseburgers!" Lol I laughed so hard.

How are you? Pretty good. Excluding members of my family I am obligated to see during the holidays who try their hardest to make you miserable, I am looking forward to Christmas. DD "gets it" so much more than last year.

Anything else? No, just the usual holiday stuff.

QOTW: My last gift arrived last night. The rest have been wrapped and delivered (to my parents and the IL's) for Christmas Day so I won't have to worry about forgetting any when we load up. The taberbtb household is ready!

We're good! Thanks for checking on us. I've been hanging out over on N16. Lillian is 26 months today. She's talking more in sentences, learning her name, she knows about half the colors, tries to count (it's more like 2, 1, 5, 4 etc), is trying to sing familiar songs like happy birthday and twinkle twinkle little star, and is mostly engaging in creative or pretend play. She's a fantastic big sister and adjusted really fast. She's definitely 2 and has tantrums daily, but we don't have to do time out very often which is nice.

I'm recovering from pregnancy pretty well. Physically its been slow going, but emotionally I've been great. I had my 2nd daughter on 11/11 and we named her Lilah Julianne. She's bigger than Lillian was so far, nursing really well, and already rolled over front to back. Today is her 6 week birthday.
