The handprint didn't work out. Oh well. I did find my paint pen to personalize the other ornament.
If one is traveling across the country and suspects that one may have either an ear or sinus infection, one should get it checked out before getting on a plane. Apparently that is unpopular to my father. My mom just called me to tell me. Ugh.
Our house feels more and more like a money pit every day. My hopes of a four figure fix for the water situation are dashed. At least we can get away with doing part of it now and waiting until spring for the rest? Good thing I'll be working again starting next week!
You figured out a way to make it work? Hooray! (This is the correct response, yes?) Are you going to be FT or PT?
DS1's Christmas party was a disaster. Well, for our family anyway. I should have skipped it, like I seriously contemplated, but I felt bad.
I had to wake DS2 from his first real nap of the day, so that's the first fail of the afternoon. When I talked to his teacher this morning, they didn't have much in the way of snacks other than cookies, so I stopped to get a small ham/cheese/crackers tray and some pretzels. This, of course, made me late by 10 minutes. The parking lot was full, except for some jackass that double parked her big truck, so I was even more late after finding a spot farther away and hauling the food, class gift, and DS1's carrier. When I got in the classroom, the kids were already finishing eating. Oh well, guess I have some snacks for this weekend now. DS2 starts fussing because it's time to eat. All day long he's only eaten about half of his norm, very slowly, and then spitting it all up after. This time was no different. DS1 didn't understand the book exchange they were doing so he was melting down over that, while my arms were full feeding a baby. Then he didn't want to leave. On the way out, a kid puked in the hallway. There's already been 8 cases of stomach flu in the other Preschool class. I'm throwing dinner together now while the baby sits in the swing and DS1 is occupied by Sesame Street on the DVR. Then, it's bath and bed. Even if it's only 6:30pm. Stick a fork in me, I'm done. 😳😳😳😑😑😑😑
Tl;dr: I tried to solo parent at DS1's Preschool Christmas party with a newborn in tow and failed miserably. Please send alcohol.

I open my trunk, get out DS2s stroller that the carrier fits in, and I push the second kid in and out of daycare. Hell no to hauling a carrier and all his school crap and jacket and daily sheet and holding the kids hand in the parking lot. It's a pita... but worth it.
Really though, there's a woman who drops off about the same time I do everyday and does that. She has twins and an older child though. When I saw her today, I held the door and thought, "Ok. When the twins were smaller, I could see doing this. But...they can walk now. Hell no to hauling that stroller in and out everyday, twice a day."

Maybe I should.
My back went out with my first kid post partum so I am protective of not having abs or strength yet.

britta Sorry about your afternoon. But you survived! I'm sure no one was judging you and were probably wishing they could help. And I hope the stomach flu didn't follow you home!
I braved the daycare holiday party last week solo. Because lo hasn't started daycare yet, I had to lug him around with me - first to the three's room with DS, then the two's room with DD, and back to the three's room with DD to see Santa. Lo chilled in the carseat. As the line to see Santa got shorter, I asked DS and DD to stand in line. DS listened, DD didn't. I look across the room to find DD getting into the markers. As I run across the room to get her out of the markers, I left the carseat (I couldn't carry it with me at ALL times). I'm tending to DD and another mother comes up to me and says, "your baby woke up and is crying." Eff. What a circus.
Although one of the father's complimented me yesterday. He sees me every morning bringing three kids in and doesn't know how I do it. Thankfully there's usually someone to hold the doors open as I carry in DD and lo! It also helps to have a chill baby. But I can't wait until lo starts and I can drop him off first.
@kitchen we've replaced the roof, water heater, hvac, thermostat, light fixtures and doorknobs, kitchen floor and appliances, wooden fascia, crown moulding, finished the basement, replaced paneling and a drop ceiling with dry wall, chimney caps, the sewer drain on the driveway, gas logs in the fireplace, some old electrical outlets, the doorbell, and painted about every square inch. And the people lived here with everything old around them with young kids before us. They literally just didn't fix things that broke.
erien22846 thanks. I'm at home thinking that now-whatever, I survived. Wtf to the lady that was like, "Hey youd baby is crying." Umm, ok thanks? That would have annoyed the crap out of me, but I may be projecting because of a crap show my afternoon was. 😏
Apparently, DH also had a crap show of a day. He had to stay over an hour to tie up loose ends for the night call person and isn't even home yet.
Does anyone else's LO have cold hands/feet? MH and I were noticing that DS2's hands and feet are always cold. I keep socks on him and, except for on his play mat today, he doesn't chew his hands yet. It's weird. I feel bad but maybe it doesn't bother him?

britta, G's hands are always cold. It doesn't seem to bother him. I'm sorry the party was so rough.
@kitchen, I'm so sorry the repairs are going to be so expensive.
erien22846, I love when people try to be "helpful." N was goofing around at Moe's and fell off his chair. He was fine, but this woman was like, "Oh I almost had a heart attack. He nearly hit his mouth." Umm, thanks for telling me? I saw what happened and had turned my head toward the baby for a second. You don't need to tell me and my kid is not crying. Situation under control.
He did pick her up and change her diaper then fed her. So that was good. It was just him being upset with me that wasn't cool.
For sure. No bueno, Mr. Penguin.
How was your appt?
It went really well. The psych told me I talked like a doctor when I was telling him about my hypothyroidism and the girls' GERD. He said that I am doing really well for everything I've been through lately. He said it could take a full month to see the effects of the Celexa so I should be patient. He also said that I shouldn't let the new doctors I'll be seeing in my town raise my dose unless I really need it. He thinks I should be ok on just the 10 mg and said the max dose is 30 mg. He gave me 2 months worth and refills just in case something goes wrong with the new place. They were really understanding of me finding a doctor in my hometown.
Ugh hikingmama222! Just ugh to all that. britta LOs hands and feet are always cold too. I don't know if it always bothers her, but when she's fussy and we've tried feeding changing rocking walking burping gassing, if I swaddle her and put a blanket on her, when she's toasty, she does calm down. I even keep the heat up higher than I ever have.
