Our tree is finally up, along with the stockings. I still have presents from Santa to wrap and gingerbread dough waiting in the fridge. I am going to attempt to bake a gingerbread house from scratch, wish me luck!
I called out of work tonight. This cold just won't quit and every night it feels like I swallowed razors. And I have no voice. And I undid any healing I had done when I worked the other night. So I'm trying to rest before the weekend...
Finally home and stuffed. We went to a pizza place for lunch with my BFF. Then when we got back to town, we had that free dinner I won last week. The dinner included bbq chicken, ribs, bbq pork, baked beans, coleslaw, and 2 extra sides. So we got mac and cheese and corn on the cob. We had the kids with us so they just ate the sides lol. But it was still so much food.

SO date night tiurnrd into date day because I didn't want my mom to have to handle x at bedtime or for him to be further out of routine. We saw Manchester by the Sea. I'm so out of the loop on current movies but had recently seen that trailer scrolling though Hulu a few weeks ago. Also, hello Casey Affleck. By far my favorite Affleck. I cried the entire time. I ended up hiding in the bathroom the last 20 minutes of the movie because I just couldn't. It was a great movie, but damn. We went to dinner and had to sit in the parking lot for 20 minutes because H said my eyes were too bloodshot to go in.
Anyways. It was not quite the date night vibe I was planning for but we had a good laugh over it. Now I'm homs and getting slapped in the face by my nursing child. When does this phase end?
Hey ladies! I DO have an abscess but I don't have a fever so they think it might go away if I spend my entire holiday hot compressing and massaging. If I get a fever then I have to go to the ER for immediate drainage. My milk supply literally disappeared, even from the good breast, so I'm suddenly done breastfeeding. I nursed V this morning knowing it was our last time.

Horray (?) to them thinking you can treat the abscess on your own. I hope it works. Sorry your supply dipped out so quickly! You made it a long while and should feel good about that! (I'd probably still keep offering and trying some supply-boosting methods in hopes it might bounce back, but that's me-- you totally do what you feel is best for you and V!) I hope you're feeling peaceful with this development!
rivers and roads it's crazy there is just absolutely no milk!! I tried this morning to nurse and she sucked but I knew nothing was coming out. I had no idea that supply can go from full to 0 so quickly!!

Sending clear up vibes for you! You legit made me cry with that last statement. My hormones can't handle the thought of babies weaning!

Dang, I make good gingerbread! I had just enough dough left over after cutting all the house pieces to make a couple of test-taste cookies and they were delicious. Now fingers crossed I am successful in assembling this sucker!

My mom ended up with pneumonia when my brother was 18 months and she totally dried up. She likes to joke that he may still be nursing otherwise just to see his expression. Haha

Oh trust me there has been a LOT of crying here!!!

But at least once the crying is done there is freedom that follows!
I didn't have as many feels weaning DD1 since I knew she wouldn't be my last, even though she self-weaned earlier than I expected. I enjoyed the 'time off' before getting pregnant again. This time around I don't know if I'll ever get to nurse again, it's hard to imagine. Hopefully these guys aren't ready to wean for a while yet!

You're right, this is just my first so I'm not heartbroken BUT my heart immediately jumps to "make another baby"! I guess I'm just sad because my breastfeeding journey has been very hard but I had a plan to make it to 12 months and life cut it juuuuuust a bit too short, and way too suddenly. Must resist the urge to make another baby just yet. And I'm sure your little ones will nurse for a long time - from what I've seen you're a nursing rockstar!! Seriously, anyone that nurses twins is a hero in my book. I could barely nurse one

Oh no your poor boob! I hope hope you can fix it on your own but know that if not, the drainage procedure isn't as horrifying as it sounds (per my BFF who had it done twice, yuck). I'm sorry your supply dropped so fast, but as everyone has said, you're a rockstar for making it through all you have for so long. V is a lucky lady. Enjoy your freedom from the pump (until you make another baby, hehe).

Oh good to hear there are people who survived the drainage! Do you know if she got some sort of anesthetic before hand?

I believe they used a local both times. I know she felt relieved after the procedure rather than traumatized. I think when something has been hurting so much, instant relief is pretty much worth anything. But I will check on specifics if it comes down to it for you How is it today?

apunicorn, i know i am late and just catching up, but all the feels for you Mama. I too cried reading the last sentence of your post. I can't imagine the BF journey coming and an abrupt halt like that. I hope you are feeling better about it now.

Thanks so much I'm feeling a lot less sad about it now, a few days later, but oh man was it a rough thing to accept initially.
