danib that looks awesome, thank you so much for sharing the recipe! kleigh okay I need to know what the Polish Nyquil is!
We just got back from Chinese buffet a little while ago. D slept through the whole thing and then when we got home proceeded to have the biggest poop of her short life so far. It was through her pants, onesie, and even her button down sweater 😳 hopefully she will be less of a crank now for the rest of the day!
So there's prob an equivalent of the polish NyQuil but I don't know what it would be, maybe limoncello ?
So it's basically grain vodka, honey, and fresh squeezed lemon juice boiled, bottled for a week, and then kept in the freezer. H's family and friends make it and while it's not specifically intended for colds, I have a 7 year streak with it. If I take a shot at the first sign of a cold/flu/etc or even if I already have the cold I will either not get sick or I'll be better the next day. It's also the only shot I can drink several of and have zero hangover the next day.
ETA They call it NyQuil obv bc it does help with colds and sleep lol
We have our 5yr anniversary on February 10. With infertility issues I always pictured us spending our money on a vow renewal ceremony back in New Orleans with family and friends. I'm so happy to have to these two instead but I still want to celebrate though.
I'm thinking all four of us can head to Boston for the weekend.. Not that we can do much with them at 3 months old and dead of winter.
My PP visit went well. No prolapse, just a funny looking vagina. I guess I had another tear that healed in two pieces instead of one. It shouldn't cause any issues; it is just cosmetic. I'm cleared for all normal activities although I'm not sure I'm ready for sex yet. Sorry H.

YASSS come to Boston and hang out with meeee!! I'm sure YH will have no issue spending your special family time with your creepy Internet friend lol
Polish NyQuil sounds way better than Emergen-C (my go-to). I love limoncello so if the flavor is similar, I'm in!
Has anyone ever had grappa? I did a summer-semester in Italy and we tried it at this 200+ y.o. distillery. It tasted like rubbing alcohol and I think put some hair on my chest, but several of us were starting to get colds and everyone felt 100% better the next day. I've never looked for it here in the states, though.

Having an angry orchard now! Happy hour before the Japanese steakhouse tonight with the family.
We hit the mall earlier and got N a few sale items at Hanna Andersson. And got some nursing tanks from h&m. They had some on sale plus 30% off, so testing those out before getting the plain black and white ones I really want.
And I know it's not proven, but I'm not allowed to eat fajitas for the foreseeable future - the two times I have had them, N is a gassy angry mess. I suspect onions and peppers.

Thank you for the recipe danib. Already added to the list for our Memorial Day party! I don't want to mess it up by attempting to scale it down in size.
Oh I hear you about hating to spend money on stuff like tree removal LizInFL. At least I got M out of this, home maintenance stuff is just a drag! We have a roomba too. Keeps me sane with all of the dogs. Also, hard pass on grappa. Never again.
kleigh I ONLY did it because they're due on the 4th. I wouldn't even look in the direction of the envelopes before today. I hope Alec is ok. My whole family makes Polish NyQuil except we call it boilo. Best sleep ever after a warm mug of it. Texting my Nana now for the recipe!
dashook oh no!! I'm am SO glad you were home when that happened. *puts right sized extra change of clothes in diaper bag* I'm joining in on this Boston adventure!! I didn't know you liked scotch! That's my H's jam!

Jealous of the Boston and Roomba talk. I'm still not convinced the Roomba will work with my dog but I would love one! And I've never been to Boston but want to go.
Earlier today we wanted to get out of the house for the cleaning people so we went to my mom's for breakfast. We left Colin there while we went back home to drop off the dog and get ready. About to go pick him up and head to friend's house. I'll be having some Dragons Milk stout (local brewery) tonight.
I love seeing our friends but can't wait for things to calm down so we can spend some time at home again. It seems like we have plans every day through new years.
After only one Roomba run, I'm officially obsessed. Moreso after emptying the trap...omg, the dog hair. I stalked it around the house for a bit, and then went to take a nap while it did its thing.
goldenlove3 I know that feeling... Happy to see people but just want a break sometimes. I think having a baby only compounds that feeling.
+1
I actually skipped my moms group tonight because I have had too much togetherness with like everyone ever lately and just wanted a night in with my hubby and our babies.
H seriously is the funniest. Alec is not happy when he has trapped gas - like at all. H has a "secret trick" to help.
Squats. But likely a bouncing squat with Alec over his shoulder.
I cannot even explain what this looks like but just know I die a little when I watch it.
It works.
H was doing something like that when we were in the hospital for the light therepy. I would feed him then hand him over to H. I called it his oompa loompa burp dance.
I'm really not amused by D's new affection for waking up every 45 minutes from 8:30 -11:30 when she is clearly tired. She isn't hungry either. It's incredibly annoying and it takes me so friggin long to get her back down each time. I'm over it.
Currently on her third wakeup. This time she is nursing so hopefully after this I can actually try to go to bed.
It has been exactly 30 minutes since my last post and this kid is awake AGAIN. I'm sending in H and going to bed. He'll deal with her until her next feeding and then I'll take over. Ugh this is going to be a long effing night.
I don't know what to do with myself over here. We got in from the pedi and I fed Adeline. Normally she'd pass out in my arms and that would be it until 3-4am. But she wouldn't fall asleep, she was wide awake. I tried everything - more food, binkie, walking, football hold, over my shoulder, burping etc etc etc. She wasn't crying but I thought I was going to be up all night. So I put her in the RnP so I could go to the bathroom and BAM she fell asleep in under a minute and has been out since.
For the past four weeks she wouldn't sleep anywhere but my chest so I gave up trying. Could this be the miracle?!
I'm up, L let me sleep from 2:30am till 7:30am and again from 9-12!?! I'm here nursing him until that magic switch goes off and he's ready to sleep for real. We got about 6" of snow (better than the 12-15" they predicted), I plowed driveway before bed in hopes that it won't be awful in the morning. Mom and I are hoping to get to the local Inn for dinner with my neighbors . They have an almost 4 month old.
dashook L does what I'm calling fake sleeping or a light sleep. He dozes off, I play with his feet, hands, belly, but he stays asleep. I move him to bassinet and within 5 minutes, he's awake. Not in and out but wide eyed and all!
kleigh fx you have found your miracle!! Usually D sleeps in her RnP at night but tonight she'll only sleep on me. Maybe they traded?? Haha!
Long stupid rant ahead:
Sooo I am up again and annoyed at MH, which I should have expected but for some reason didn't. I just don't get how he can be so useless with a newborn when he has done this twice in less than 2 years.
I fed D at 10:30 and she fell asleep but then woke as soon as I put her down. Exhausted, I had H go in to her at like 11:15 to try to put her back to sleep (i.e., hold and rock her til she sleeps then put her in RnP, and if she wakes up, rinse and repeat). I told him that if she didn't settle, to just wake me up when she was hungry. I jacked up my white noise app and fell asleep.
I was awoken exactly two hours later by a loud bang and shout from downstairs (loud enough to cut through my white noise). I come down and he's holding D, who's crying and wearing a loose, disheveled swaddle blanket, and trying to stuff a pacifier in her mouth, which is just making her scream more. He's like, "she'd better be hungry." I'm like, "well yeah she clearly is and it's been almost 3 hours since she ate. Why didn't you come get me?"
Also, FFS why don't you follow anything I tell you (swaddle?? White noise??)? And at what point did you think that shouting was going to soothe her back to sleep? At least tonight he didn't have all the lights on.
Anyway LSS I tightened her swaddle, put on some white noise, and fed her, and now she's asleep on my chest. He kept offering to take her back. No thanks, bro. This is also why I don't wake him to help me with her even when she's being a pain at night. He just has no clue so he makes it worse and I end up having to do it anyway with twice the effort. It's a vicious cycle because maybe doing it more would make him better at it. But giving him those chances isn't worth it.
One of buckyb's amazing Baileys + cookie combos to anyone who read this!
I am up. Again. An hour and ten minutes is what I got out of her and I slept for maybe 20 of that. I'm trying so hard not to be angry at her but it's not really working. Biggest wtf ever, baby.
The inconsistency really is killer, waitwhat. Randomly, I also had awful heartburn tonight! I had to take Tums earlier. I've never had heartburn outside of being pregnant with D. Really hoping this isn't a "thing" for me now.
It's 4am and I'm just catching up. We went to buy a new Pilot and ended up leasing a new Odyssey. Lol. DH was so adamant about not having a minivan, but honestly it's pretty much just an extra long version of my CRV. It drives so well and it has a rear entertainment center thing so when the babies are forward facing they can watch their pre-approved dvds (Lillian is still rear facing). It's going to make road trips soooo much better. We have 15k miles per year, all maintenance covered, all parts of the tires covered, and seat/carpet replacement if they are damaged or stained. I'm pretty excited about it. So far it's surprisingly fun to drive. We'll both miss our old cars and being a one car family is going to be tricky, but I think it will ultimately be good for us.
waitwhat I also have been having heartburn randomly. I only ever have it like this when pregnant. My only guess is that it's related to things still settling and maybe the DR?
dashook That sounds miserable. I always have to do the swaddle for dh...we use the sleep sacks. How hard could it be? But I do it anyway because it's so much more work to try to teach him. It'd be easy if he let me, but he insists it's too hard and that he'll screw it up. Ugh. At least he's pretty good at soothing her and knows her hunger cues. I hope she went back down quickly and stays asleep for a nice long stretch for you.
+1 to looking at new cars this year! The backseat of my Mazda 3 is too small for a car seat and right now, the passenger side is eating the dash. Luckily my mom is short! Lol We're hoping to upgrade to a cx-5 this coming year! Plus I really want that car!! Lol
