honeylemon I am so sorry that you are dealing with this. Sending you lots of virtual hugs and strength. And in case you needed a reminder, you are awesome.
I am so incredibly sorry to hear these news honeylemon. Reading your responses just reminds me of what a wonderful and kick ass spirit you've always had. Please count me in!! I want to help.
I wanted to see if anyone was going to do something, but I wasn't sure if it was public knowledge yet. I know I'm not really an M15er anymore, but please count me in on this.
Oh, this hurts my heart so. I jsut had my youngest patient with triple negative complete chemo and double mastectomy. she is 52. Cancer doesnt discriminate, and honeylemon is way too young! I'm in.
I'm 32. Even my doctors and nurses seem shocked when they meet me. I'll be having a bilateral mastectomy probably in a few months. On the plus side, I met my plastic surgeon today and he was the nicest person ever and he's going to give me new, perky, cancer free boobs when this is all over.
Silver linings honeylemon, you never cease to amaze me. Chemo, mastectomy, radiation, reconstruction?

Yes, exactly that. I had my port placed today. It was... not a fun day. Lack of food and coffee plus anesthesia gave me a giant migraine that's just now going away. And now my incisions are starting to hurt. Lovely. 😖

But the port is amazing! Pming yu on fb to talk details if you don't mind
Just checking in to see how today's surgeries went.
Thanks for thinking of me.
I had my port placed. Pre surgery sucked because they had a hard time getting an IV in. The surgery went ok and I woke up with a migraine. So that was awful. Once the headache finally calmed down a few hours later, the pain from the surgery started up. I finally gave in and took some oxycodone and fell asleep. Usually I try to avoid narcotics because they make me puke but the pain was pretty bad. I just ate a sandwich with it and I was ok.
Still in some pain this morning but hopefully it will be manageable with ibuprofen and Tylenol.

Oh, for all the LLR fans. A group of my friends got together and sent me four LLR outfits to wear for my long, boring, uncomfortable appointments. Leggings, tunics, and this gorgeous long cardigan that I love. I'm amazed at the leggings. Amazed.

I've been thinking about you lately and I'm glad your first procedure went well. I hope it's not inappropriate to ask you this, but I was wondering what the first sign was that something wasn't right? I know a lot of us are in the same age range and I was just wondering if there was a specific symptom or feeling? Ignore me if I'm over stepping.

Last June I developed a lump that I assumed was a clogged duct since I'm still nursing and I had gone most of that day without. Nothing worked to get it out but it didn't hurt so I left it, thinking it was some kind of retained milk cyst.
By September it was still there so I had it checked. They agreed it was probably lactation related and to come back in six months or if it changed at all.
In late November it started changing. It got a little bigger. My areola on that breast became hard and the skin would itch and peel. So I went back in and started the diagnosis process.
I had a breast ultrasound after which they immediately scheduled me for a biopsy the next morning. I knew then that it was not a good sign. They also did a mammogram after the biopsy. That was a Friday and they had me come in the next Monday for the exam and that's when we got the results.
So if you have a lump that won't go away, don't assume anything. Get it checked immediately. There's no such thing as overreacting. I never ever would have thought I would get breast cancer while I was breastfeeding.

I'm really glad the procedure went okay and hope you're feeling decent today. Glad you have some comfy clothes to wear! What a thoughtful thing from your friends.

How is pain management going today? Is there anything we can help with?
It's manageable with ibuprofen today. I took a nap with DD when she got home from preschool and figured a way to prop my neck up in a more comfortable way to keep everything from pulling and stretching over the port. 😬 Hopefully by tomorrow it will start feeling less tender.
