I don't know that they're boring. I love Nathaniel and dig Colin. I also am a fan of Rhett as a nickname for Everett. So I think there are some good bones there to work with.
I think your biggest issue is either you were expecting a name to jump out as THE ONE, or you're still stuck on one of your favorites not on the list.
Both are pretty typical problems. I think most of us have a similar expectation of falling upon the perfect name. And it happens for some, but not for others.
As for the second issue, if that's the case, imagine how you would feel of your husband kept pushing a name you didn't like at all and channel your feelings for a favorite name elsewhere. Which is not to say it will ever completely go away. Daniel Gilles's children have names I love but DH didn't and two months ago I texted DH that I married the wrong man 😉

I'm still team Rhett for you, but I also love Nathan(iel), Lucas/Luke, Jack, and Gregory.
I'm sorry you are feeling sad. Name compromise sucks. I feel like my husband nixed my favorites, and nothing on our short list feels "right" yet, so I think I understand. It was a very different experience with my first born.

You have some solid choices and they aren't boring. It's OK that you aren't ecstatic about any of them. I love DS's name (it's on your list), but it's not one that makes me swoon and it wasn't the top of either our lists until the end.
I'm not a fan of Kendrick, but it makes a nice middle name. You may need to keep looking and think about why you like certain names and why he likes certain names. Babynamewizard.com is another good source for looking at names other people liked based on what they named siblings.
Lucas, Gregory, Rhett, and Elliott are all great names.
I understand what you mean, though. I had to let go of some deep loves when we are talking names. And I still have a tiny bit of hope I'll convert him before May.

I might beat my husband. He's got cold draggy feet about liking Elliott now and says he likes Nathaniel better. I like Elliott better but am TOTALLY COMPROMISING by picking either of these names because they're not my style. I just had a sob fest because DH & my mom were ganging up on me saying I was going to get DS beat up by picking a weird name.

They are idiots if they think Elliott is a weird name. I'm sorry. Remember you both have veto power and grandparents actually have no vote. It's not like you're now decided on a name if you don't want to be. You will figure this out one of these days.

Pretty much every name I love sounds like a kid who is going to get beat up on the playground.
(I think playground fights are rarely initiated by someone's name)

cabbagecabbage it wasn't Elliott in particular that sparked the comment (my mom actually really likes that one). It's my other actual top name choices. I'm just frustrated with DH over it. And billyhorrible that's pretty much exactly what I said!

With that being said, what is the consensus on Isaac ?? I literally just woke up from a dead sleep and thought about it. I looked it up cuz I really like the way it sounds and the meaning is amazing. BUT I'm shocked at the popularity. Is it really that popular?! I racked my brain and I can only think of maybe 1 that I've met.
It's ridiculous that they are trying to guilt you into a name. People always mention the idea of getting beat up over a name, but I really think those are the days of the past. Consider the fact that there are going to be kids with unique names like Oce.an, Od.in, and Se.ason (all names I know irl), and depending on your area you might have cultural names (Indian, Chinese, etc.) in there as well, so you aren't going to get half of a class or more beat up. Most of the older generation are far removed from the naming styles that they don't really know what is trendy, outdated, or heard everywhere. Don't let them push you into a name you don't want.
ETA since I saw you updated: I personally love Isaac! I don't think it's overly popular in my area, but you might want to see about yours here

ottertails I checked there after I saw the general popularity. It's high 30s low 40s for our home states. But it's quite high for our current state of residence (teens). However, we'd be moving before he started school here anyways. (Thanks navy lol)

And ottertails I tried to explain all that to them. They're not terrible people. They really did feel bad for upsetting me. I've always been QUITE different from my family so I'm used to a little bit of the crap. I figure when your style is so different then you won't always get along about it. And I can be pretty darn stubborn about it if necessary.
I want DH to wake up meow so I can tell him about Isaac.
ourcrazynavylife , I definitely didn't mean to imply they are bad people. I think those that do the "beat up in school" routine mean well, but are just out of touch. It's good that you're stubborn, I've heard of too many people that change names based on a comment from a family member. It does make it harder if you'll be moving around a lot to judge popularity. Maybe try this too; it's probably as close as you can see within the state. Of course, it depends on what hospitals give up the info, but it may make you feel better with a few data points. For example, using San Diego, CA only the UC San Diego health system hospital had Isaac in the top 10. Fingers crossed your H likes it too!

I like Isaac. I've never met one in real life. I would not consider it a popular name.

Well back to fucking square one. He doesn't like Isaac. I wish I could stop myself from getting my hopes up every time I find a good name. Always just disappointed.
"I've already looked at that name. If I liked it I would've showed you already." Dude you've got some nerve before I've had coffee since I've been up since 0445.
