Thanks guys! The furnace people just left and we have heat again! I think this is the first time I've ever had someone show up at the beginning of the time frame too! Cost wasn't too horrible either.

Can I Aw my little guy for a second? He's 2 months old today and he's grown so much. I just weighed him on my scale and he's 12.4 lbs!! He was only 9 lbs at his one month.
cookswithwine9 I trust and send positive vibes that your mom will make 2017 the year she gains sobriety for herself, you and LO, and the rest of your family. Many hugs! I unfortunately know the heartbreak of watching someone you love battle addiction.
Thank you, it is very difficult. I often don't know the best way to support her or even the right things to say.
jubilantsquirrel that almost happened to me yesterday. Somehow H tricked it into working again. Now today I think my washing machine is broken. It's not spinning. Damn.
DS definitely became dependent on nursing or a bottle to get to/back to sleep. It wasn't terrible as an infant, but was really a pain between 12-18 months old...if he woke up MOTN, he wanted a bottle or sippy of milk, even if he wasn't hungry. It wasn't the end of the world but it wasn't fun, either, and it *was* tough to break that habit since it's bad for their teeth. I haven't consciously tried to avoid nursing-to-sleep with C, but so far she wakes up as I transfer her to the crib so it hasn't been a problem.
I will say, the humidifer we have projects images onto the ceiling, and C will lie there for anywhere from a couple to 30+ minutes watching it before falling asleep. I don't know if it actually helps her or it's just a coincidence, but she does a great job putting herself to sleep so I'm not messing with it!

Sometimes being an adult sucks. I hope you're able to get your washing machine fixed!
Hiii. C and I are both on our third outfits for the day, and the switch has officially been made to size 2 diapers. :sob:
DS was toddlering hard this afternoon; I was tempted to see if my mom could come get him early! I am very appreciative to have a night off, and judging by the texts I've gotten from my sister, he is having a great time with them. Win/win.
2016 was a very good year for our family, and I'm optimistic 2017 will be another good one. There's been some sadness but mostly fun, lots of time with family and friends, some travel, and of course two beautiful children. Most importantly, we all have our health, and that to me is truly a blessing.
Thai food and red wine for dinner. The big one is sleeping, the little one in my lap. My H (typically) is asleep on the couch. Great way to go out 2016! See you tomorrow 2017.
My parents and grandmother just left and I'm upstairs rocking D to sleep. Well, she's asleep but I'm rocking her a bit to make really sure I can put her down. Then DH and I are going to drink beer out of champagne flutes because we have no bubbly. Good thing I bought that bottle of sparkling cider to have with my non-drinking family though 😑
The past few days D has been weird with nursing. She'll only do 5-6 minutes and then refuses to do anymore, and gets really really pissed when I try to encourage her to take more. Usually she nurses 9-10 times in a day for an average total of 1.5 hours. Today she only nursed 7 times for 52 total minutes. She's still making plenty of diapers so I probably shouldn't worry, but it's just odd.
Also just wanted to say how much it meant to me to "meet" all of you and your LO's this year. I feel so grateful to have this group of supportive, funny, caring, witty friends with whom to go through some of life's most amazing experiences. Wishing everyone a very happy, healthy new year full of joy as we watch these beautiful babies grow ❤️
