Happy New Year's Eve mamas! Well, our trip to BFFs got postponed (her kiddo had a fever on Friday so we decided, begrudgingly, to be safe) but all has been clear for 24 hours. So we are doing NYE tomorrow night, haha. Complete with fancy dinner and champagne toast and dvr'd ball drop at midnight We WILL NOT miss our NYE celebration together. But because we ended up here we did (Narnia) town NYE celebration tonight with my new mom girlfriend and her family. The town sets up little fire pits all along the rail trail where you can stop and roast marshmallows and hot dogs and stuff and they give out cider and hot cocoa and literally THE WHOLE TOWN comes and walks around and says happy new year to each other. It's hilariously adorable. And all free. And from 5-9 so good for families. We had a blast. And tomorrow the mini trains are running so I'll take DS for some free rides. And then head to CT for party time! Yay!

Seriously...who sponsors events like this? The city? My town sucks.
So my H finally came home and tried talking me into going to his brother's to hang out with friends, like he would stay home with the kids. Which is a nice offer, but I'm solo parenting tomorrow so I'm choosing sleep over fun. And just not in the mood. So then he leaves. Like, ok, thanks for spending the evening with me. 👎🏻 And he wonders why he never gets any.
Well we went out for supper. DD chowed some meatloaf, so I guess I know what I'll be making soon. I always forget about that option, and I usually make it in a muffin pan so I could save those easily for her.
We got home at 6:30 and H decided that was the time he needed to go to work to load up the stuff he needs for tomorrow. Like, really.... DD was already tired and kids needed a bath. So he leaves, and I could tell DS needed to poop and was holding it in, because apparently that's his new thing. Like he's scared to go. So I left him crying on the toilet while I took DD upstairs and bathed her and put her to bed. I'm so tired of dealing with DS and this poop issue I made him get ready for bed alone and get into bed, no rocking or anything from me tonight. Seems harsh but I've tried everything under the sun and I'm over it. He can sit and get stomach aches I guess.
Low dose laxatives! DS went through this for a while after starting up school again when I went back to work. He didn't want to poop there, then got constipated, then just didn't want to go because it hurt ... and viscious cycle. It was so frustrating.
We gave him miralax in some juice for a couple days until things got moving and a couple further days just to make sure things kept moving. Check with your pediatrician, as I don't recall dosage etc ... but ours was cool with this plan of action.

This one is sponsored by The Friends of the Rail Trail so they fundraise and people donate throughout the year. The Halloween one was put on by the Newcomers Club, which has a $25/yr fee. But most of the other ones are sponsored by the town and local businesses. It's pretty cool People volunteer to work a lot of them too (I did the Halloween one).

I'm at my wits end pulling my hair out. I think for some reason he had a couple harder poops that maybe hurt a bit, so then he spiraled into holding it for a day or two and then had a super large hard one that hurt, which we had to force him to go. His body was shaking trying to hold it in. It was bad. We started giving him prune juice and he wanted to keep holding it, but he's had 3 or 4 normal poops now that were soft and not difficult to get out. After each one he's happy and seems to feel good about it, so I don't know why he's then scared again and wanting to hold them in. I thought after a few normal times he'd be fine. They aren't hard and he needs to go. It's all mental and he's physically doing it to himself so it's actually making me mad and driving me nuts. Like really trying my patience and making it hard for me to sympathize to help him or be nice about it.

C went through this (same situation where he had a REALLY bad one and then it cleared up but he kept holding them in). He would do this crazy hopping around thing and it would make me so frustrated too I'm sorry. It's hard when you just want them to do something you know will help! It passed for us, almost like it was just a phase. I did make very sure that he had lots of fruit and fluids so he wouldn't have a scary one set him back again. I hope it passes for R too!

Yes he will pace and walk around on his tippy toes sticking his butt out holding it in! It's so obvious but cries and cries when we try to get him to go sit on the toilet. And will literally sit on the toilet for hours refusing to go. H has been having luck getting him to go these last few times and just gets very stern and tells him to push and coaches him through it. I've tried it, and he won't do it for me. I've tried consoling him, being funny, bribing, anything I can think of and it's not working. He didn't go tonight so I'm sure we'll be back at it as soon as he gets done eating breakfast in the morning. Literally, we've spent almost the entire Christmas break dealing with this. He's wasted so many days where he's not played or done anything because of it. So annoying!

Do you live in Stars Hollow? I also want to move to where you live!

chocolate, that sounds absurd and makes me not excited about that at all. I hope this passes. It must be really frustrating.
leahks77, are your taxes insane? Sounds totally worth it, but how do they do it!? My town is only half as cool as yours and they still charge a ton.
We have an early morning flight. By the time I got X down to sleep and came downstairs, SIL was in her room with the door shut and H and BIL are nowhere to be found. I ate dinner by myself and now I'm going to bed. I could be mad, but I'd rather sleep than socialize anyways.
@auchick(numbers?), in so sorry for your trip. I'm glad he's nursing again!
Ladies!! TMI but... We just had good sex. Like, really good. The first good sex we've had in almost two years now. (Still some pain in the beginning, but beggars can't be choosers and all that.) What an exciting NYE. Ha.
When we were getting dressed to come out and finally make dinner, my H looked at me and giggled. "You have hot mom sex hair."

I shaved my legs today and all, but then H decided to be a douche.
mishy2010 I want to pick your brain for a minute. I've been having wrist pain for a while now, probably a month. I got a brace thinking it would help but I think it's making things worse. Do I start with my pcp or just skip the middle man and see the ortho specialist directly?
Ortho directly, hand and wrist specialist. PCPs are hit or miss with treatment. Many are behind on current recommendations.

Oh man. I can't even eat pork belly without feeling sick, lol. Good stuff though.
That girl will have the most expansive palate of any baby I know by her birthday. Well done, mama.
Haha she's a trooper with everything I give her! But looks like I overdid it today And you're so right, even adults shouldn't be eating that stuff! So fatty. But it was special for New Years

Thanks, that was what I was leaning towards. I figured some rest (well as much as I can do while taking care of a toddler and baby full time) and possibly the brace would help but no dice. Looks like I'll be calling them on Tuesday.

Sometime you just need a Rx strength anti inflammatory to hit the reset button. They might give you a script for PT too.
Hi ladies! I'm sorry I post so far and few between. I would like to get better with that in 2017. Yesterday we went grocery shopping and then had friends over in the evening to hang out. We have all been sick this past week so today we will relax at home and I'll probably get some cleaning done. I also need to get DD2's birthday invitations done. I can't believe I'm already planning another 1st birthday. I got pregnant with DD2 right around the time DD1 had her first birthday
