Common in children, rare in adults. Usually seen in adults as an STD!!! Ha ha but I caught mine from DD who had a terrible case of them all over her body that lasted 18 months....she's now scarred where they were. Hers went a while ago so god knows where mine popped up from all of a sudden.
Would you believe....I have one. One solitary fucker on my thigh. It is however infected and I kid you not - THE sorest thing ever.
In fact at a certain angle, it's so swollen, my thigh looks like it's grown a boob.
Here are some pictures of my third boob...one without a flash so you can see the red, burning hot infection.
It's honestly so sore it makes me want to cry. I've been shoving an ice pack down my trousers. Showed the midwife and she had never seen it before and had to go and get a consultant. Great!
I'm sorry you're dealing with that. What's the treatment?
It's honestly ridiculous that something so small is so painful.
I feel horrific now for DD who suffered for 18 months with hers. In kids, doctors like not to treat them so children when they are young build up immunity. I hated her GP for putting her through that though. But sure enough, they vanished eventually. DD's spread from behind her knees, up her legs, over her bum, to her torso and armpits, luckily never reaching her face. Hers spread though because she scratched them unknowingly at nighttime.
They are majorly contagious through touch, towels, bedding etc. Which is obviously how I came to have one.
In adults you can get them frozen off but not sure about when you are pregnant. Plus - also not sure about whether the NHS would fund that if they are known to just vanish. Especially as mine aren't an STD and on my genitals so won't be passed on to DH. I can see my doctor just saying to leave it.
I'm worried about giving birth though and passing it onto the baby as it's right on my inner thigh. I'll just have to make sure it's covered up.

lulu, that looks and sounds so miserable I had to google it. At least it (I now have learned) is not one of those viruses that remains dormant in your body to flare up again later. But still, yuck! I hope yours gpes away at the short end of the time range!
Once again, completely a waste of time to make us work on the holiday. It is freaking dead here and the idiot new owners keep thinking we will be busy if they make us be the only location in all of Ontario that is open.
Well, nope! We told them that and that it is not busy at holidays so now they have to pay all of the staff wages and give us an extra day off with pay for the holiday and they have made zero profit.
Thanks for making me send my kid to daycare for a long boring day when I would love time off.

My SIL and BIL just decided to have my niececs 4th birthday party this weekend at chuck-e-cheese. Ugh. I'll need to bring food and a treat for Dd1 since she Won't be able to eat anything there.
DH and I are getting our first niece on Wednesday! H's sister has a C-section scheduled. When we saw them last weekend they asked H to be her godfather. The baptism isn't scheduled yet, but will probably happen in the next 3-4 months. What sort of gift is appropriate for this? Something for the parents? Just for the baby? They're Catholic if that makes a difference.

Usually something keepsake-y with the baby's name on it. DH got a child's set of silverware engraved with his name on the handles for his. Silver items are somewhat traditional.

Something for the baby. Since they are catholic a small cross necklace or children's bible would be appropriate. You could also give a savings bond or $ gift for the baby's future.

The dad's side of the family is huge, and I'm betting someone else will get her a bible. I'm thinking maybe a cross or picture frame to hang in her room that could be engraved. I don't know how SIL would feel about that bc she worked really hard decorating the nursery. Am I overthinking?

@jobhub I think that bracelet would be perfect. You may want to give it early so your neice can wear for her baptism. DD got a necklace and a bracelet for hers I put both on her that day.

I knew it was bad but man, I had no clue. It's seriously beyond messed up.
Have you watched the one about David Miscavage? He is a scary guy.
Yes! And the extent that some of these people go to to escape is insane! Also I can't imagine sending my 12 year old off to something like the Sea Org. Oh and back to David, where's his wife?! She's talked about in pass tense and so weird that the church wouldn't even address it after the missing persons report... what the hell?!
