DD2 is almost running now. She went from being able to walk but unsure about it, to running in like 2 weeks. DH and I are getting better at catching on to her words/sounds. Makes our life easier since she gets SO MAD when she's not being understood. She is such a mockingbird. She'll copy sounds but even does this fake laugh where she'll bend over and put her hand on her face. It's hilarious.
2017 will be interesting to see how she does with a new baby. Ironically, as a baby, she does not like babies. Very jealous. We have plans to fly back to Ontario to watch her God parents get married this summer. She was a great flier when we brought here here to look at houses so if we do that I hope it continues.

She runs everywhere!! She signs all done, eat, hot, milk, drink (in her own way). It's pretty awesome to be able to communicate. She loves to pretend to dress up. She is very strong willed and throws tantrums at a drop of a hat. Joy. I love watching her learn and get excited about causing a toy to make a noise or put something in another thing.
She got a baby doll and seems to really like it....which is good since she will be too young to understand actually becoming a big sister.

DD is signing more, please, all done, milk, eat and thank you. She also has about 15 English words and 3 or 4 French words. She strings them together too- specifically "more milk please" and "more eat please". She can tell you what a horse, dog, cat, cow, sheep say. She does all sorts of song actions (itsy bitsy spider, wheels on the bus, etc). She's starting to run, but luckily hasn't shown a ton of interest in climbing yet.
He tries to sing along if I sing a song to him. He just goes "a blah blah" but it's cute.
He gives me hugs and kisses and makes a mmmmmm sound when he gives a kiss. I try to offer my cheek for a kiss but he'll grab my face and kiss me on the lips.
G claps when I sing " if you're happy and you know it...". He also picks up his board books and "reads" them out loud.
He's also figured out my "routine" when I come get him in the morning and will point at the heater until I turn it off and will turn off his musical aquarium or point at it until I do, then he will say "up" for me to pick him up.
W is running, jumping, climbing. She learned about stairs over Christmas and now loves to climb them and slide down on her belly. She just started saying more and it sounds like mo but the little face she makes is so so precious. She repeats EVERYTHING. She is so in love with her stuffed animals it's insane (she hugged all of them this morning and told them a story or something, adorbs). A has blossomed into this sweet, happy, lovey thing. He is running, and learned to stomp his feet. He's more cautious than his sister (thank GOD). He's my little engineer, studying how things work and often taking things apart or pointing to the next step in a process- it's just amazing to watch those little brains work!
E runs. Like runs fast. She shakes her head no and is getting better at communicating. She won't talk unless it's at home with just DH or I and she apparently talks a little bit at my mom's.
The words she's said so far are : mama, dada, pop-pop/papa (they sound similar), nana (banana), Apple, hah brah (hash brown), puhpull (purple), bu (blue), yellow, dog, bubble (like bubble guppies). The last five in about the last week or so. She signs more, all done, please, thank you.
She hates being told no.
She loves to climb but is pretty cautious. She's my affectionate little girl too, kisses all day. She likes to show you itsy bitsy and we do hands to wheels on the bus too.

I'm truly amazed at all the babies talking!! DD still just babbles for the most part.
We just realized that A puts a "D" sound at the front of most words- so we thought he was just babbling but he's calling bananas "da das," and calls my dog Stella "De-da," he clucks at the cat... he's communicating but it requires some extra interpretation. We are now trying to work on pronunciation of those words and it's getting better. But he's big on pointing and grunting

DD2 mostly babbles too and will actually go off on long babbling tangents moving her hands as she talks and then looks at us like we should answer lol. However, we notice more words than most people realise she has just by interpreting her shorter babble because we hear it every day. Like a lot of our family think she is still just saying "cat" which was her first word, but she can say cat and hat which both sound like "at" it's just a context thing really or her hand motions. And she also says cup and asks for up but both sound similar to "at" but we can tell it's actually "ut"; and again, it's a context thing. So that's 4 words from what sounds like one noise lol.

C has really ramped up his communication in the past few weeks. He signs more and all done and shakes his head yes or no. He can say milk, dog, ball, mama and dada. He will point to the pantry door (and try to open it!) when he wants a snack. Actually he points to all sorts of things and it my fun task to figure out what he wants before he throws another tantrum, lol. I also think it's cute that he can follow simple commands- he's got "throw this in the trash" down pat. If we're going somewhere, l'll tell him to go get his coat, and he will! This age was one of my faves w my DD bc they are getting to be so communicative but still baby like at the same time - if that makes sense.

+1, a lot of our words sound similar. She doesn't really use them but she's knows then and can say them

Let's see.... we have a willful girl. She's a climber, I can't turn my back. She climbed up the shoe rack, onto the ottoman, and then to the couch the other day. I watched her in awe. She can run and likes to push her grocery cart around and pull her block wagon.
She says, hi, heya, bye, mama/mommy, dada, dog dog, up, book, bubbles, and hot. Her one phrase is "all done." Right now she is all done with everything. She closes books, and it's all done, out of the bath=all done. She says all done, and pushes her tray away at dinner. She still points to my chest for milk even though we're fully weaned. She walked over to the fridge, waited for me to open it, and got out a yogurt yesterday. Homegirl knows what she wants.
She's using a spoon and fork, can find her nose, tongue, and belly. She takes off her coat and is trying so hard to take off her diaper (lord, help me). Yesterday she "fed" her baby doll water, and she is always trying to give things to the dog.

There are so many things but my favorite right now is her going "whaisdat" and pointing to everything lol If you can't tell it is What is that, and she really listens to your answer on how you reply.
She also can name all my dogs and loves to go up and lay on each one.
Just watching her learn so much is so cute.
Like yummeecookee, I love this age because they are so cute learning things but in the next moment they are snuggled into your chest like a baby still. Now my almost 4 year old snuggles me and he is huge and I feel I can barely pick up anymore

Plus I feel like this is that sweet spot right before they enter into tantrum city and willful disobedience!

Oh ya, totally my favorite age. So much discovery, their personalities are hilarious, the snuggles, and I just love watching this tiny person stumbling around my house like a little drunk babbling nonsense and doing random things. Right now she's walking back and forth through the new wall opening with her sisters socks on her hands, waving them around saying "Baaaaaa,Baaaaaaa,BAAAAAAAA" over and over. They have tantrums but I can let it slide because they don't understand or can't vocalize properly what they want. When my 4yo willfully won't do things she knows full well how to do or knows not to do, it's maddening.
Well, I guess we're behind on the word game...however, she points and says "that" when she wants something, and "s'that?" when she wants to know what something is ("what's that?"
E is a big fan of climbing. She's been climbing the ottoman for about a month or so now, then hurls herself onto the couch. She likes to slide off the bed (it's very low) and loves being thrown around by her dad. She runs all over the house and you can't blink or she's gone.
She has lots of conversations with me but I haven't been able to decipher her babble much yet. I get the feeling she's banking words and is just working them out in her own way. The other day I asked her where one of her Little People princesses was, and she got up, walked across the room, gave me a very matter-of-fact answer, complete with hand gestures, then walked back to where she had been and sat down to play again. It was freaking hilarious. She has whole conversations with herself in the car. I think she's talking to her reflection.
She's finally giving kisses, and goes "mmmm" when she does. It kills me. She loves putting things in containers and taking them back out again. She also loves handing you things while saying "dookadookadooka." I have no idea what it means.
Oh! And she still loves sticking out her tongue going "libblelibblelibble." The purpose remains a mystery.

I'm reading this thread and thinking wow my kid does none of this shit lol.
He does say dad or daddy when he calling for DH's attention. Mama only if he's upset. We think he says hi, bye and ball. He does babble a lot - but he babbles like he's lecturing us. He'll babble while wagging his finger. lol His favorite thing to do right now is take my phone and gets DH's attention so they can talk on the phone together.
I also noticed he has hiding places around the house. He'll put stuff places and later goes back for them. He likes to put things between my mattress and the bed frame. It's a platform bed so there's a good amount of space between the two. He'll go into my room and pull out a small bottle of lotion he had put there the day before lol.

I just want to be clear that C's speaking is very unclear! So not trying to give the idea that he is some wordsmith. Mama and Dada sound how they are, but the rest: milk - mi ball - baw dog - duh
He is just cracking me up lately. Yesterday he grabbed a magic eraser and started rubbing the fridge with it. I believe he thinks he is helpful and cleaning up.
His newest obsession is helping when I try to put lotion on him after his bath. He puts his hand over the hole where the lotion comes out then rubs his hand down his face. So now I have been saying "put that on your leg" or "put that on your belly." Its so funny to watch him rubbing his little buddha belly, with a big grin on his face.

DD2 is starting to communicate more but it is still mostly in her own language. That she will have an entire conversation in and if she gets angry she starts pointing her finger fast and speeding up her "talk"
Actual words she says mama, Dada, bye, and dog.
She is in little gym and absolutely loves it, she's always on the go and she's not walking yet but she crawls FAST. She is also determined that she is going to do a forward roll on her own, she's gotten close a few times.
DD1 loves to sing songs and DD2 is always dancing along.
