Day 3 of putting Ben down awake at night. Not sure if it's helping, but it's not hurting. I'm kind of shocked there hasn't been any crying. He rubs his face, babbles for a few minutes, rolls over and falls asleep.
How are everyone's LOs naps looking lately? B's last nap of the day is from 5:30-6:15 and he goes to bed around 7:30. He fights it most nights, but he's a hot mess if I try to keep him awake.

Thank you for the advice earlier. We decided to move his crib downstairs (we live in a ranch style house, master in main level, other bedrooms in basement) and we will sleep in the guest room while he sleeps in the office. A temporary fix anyway. Hopefully we will be in new housing in the next 6-8 months.
Hope tonight goes well! That's great he's putting himself to sleep!
A has just started dropping his 3rd nap of the day. He still does have one sometimes, but the last 3-4 days he fought it, so I didn't push it. Otherwise we try to follow the 2-3-4 schedule (nap #1 2 hours after wake time, nap #2 3 hours after waking from that nap, then bed 4 hours after that wake time).
Melody I was just going to ask about naps. R has taken 25-45 min crap naps since 2 months old. And that's with me holding her. Just in the last few days, her afternoon naps have been over an hour, and today she only took 2 naps and both were over an hour! It's a miracle! I read that daytime sleep gets consolidated at 6 months so hopefully that is happening.
Her last nap ended at 2:45 and I thought she'd be a disaster by bedtime at 7 but she was ok.
I really really hope the longer naps are here to stay. I think I'm going to try the 2-3-4 schedule (first nap 2 hours after wakeup, second nap 3 hours after waking up from first nap, bedtime 4 hours after waking up from second nap) and see what happens.
Good luck madamewaffles! I hope you are able to get some more "you" time!
If I did the 2-3-4 thing his schedule would look something like this. 6:30 wake up 8:30-10ishnap#1 1-2:30 ish nap #2 And bedtime would be around 6:30/7. That sounds perfect. For now I'll keep following his lead with things. He doesn't seem ready to drop that third nap just yet.

You can totally add in that last catnap in there. On the days A needs one, it's usually from 5-5:30-45 and then goes to sleep roughly 1-1.5 hours after waking up.
Naps are shit here. Once we have a firm handle on nighttime sleep, we will be moving onto sleep training for naps. Both of my kids fought naps today and I am wiped out. Is it bedtime yet? (It's not even 7:00 here yet)

Naps are going pretty well at the moment *knock on wood*. We've been following the 2-3-4 method when we can. First nap is in the crib half the time and on the go the other half. 2nd nap is in the crib. We don't get a 3rd nap in too often. When we do, it's on me or in the car and is pretty brief. Bedtime is 6:30/7.
katelou, awesome news that naps are getting better! We were in the same boat with so many cat naps, but things have gotten so much better these past couple of weeks. He even took a 2 hour nap today! I had to check on him because of course I thought he was dead.
Thanks. We wound up doing okay after midnight. He was a hot mess from 8-12 though. After midnight he slept until 6:40 and then went back to sleep after he ate until 8:15!
Question - ever since HK started sleeping on her stomach it seems like she pees through her diaper every night. We even tried to size up but that didn't work either. I usually don't change her MOTN unless there is poop but for the last week has STTN **knocks vigorously on any wood insight to prevent jinxing*****

Anyone have the same issue?
I haven't had this problem but I've heard of putting the diaper on backwards for tummy sleepers. Might be worth a shot! Other than that, have you tried overnight diapers?
And back to 4 wake ups. The only encouraging part is I only fed him 3 of those times. One wake up was 1.5 hours after a feed so I went in there, told him he was being a bit ridiculous and couldn't be hungry, he said sorry mom, you're right, and went back to sleep. His side of the conversation may have actually been him screaming, but he actually cried for a very short amount of time which was great. I need to stop giving in and feeding him every time he cries. That's my project this week.

Yup. We use specific overnight diapers for this reason. Sometimes it's still not enough. It usually does the trick!

Breaking the nursing habit is hard. I had to do that with DD1. But it is doable. Stay strong'

We are :::knocks on all the wood::: having a great night. Bedtime was a little bit of a shit show because B refused his third nap, but once he was down he was golden. It's 3:00 now and he just woke up for the first time.
FX he sleeps until 6:30, which is when we start our day in this house! Everyone needs to be out the door for work/DC by 7:15.
I feel bad complaining after seeing many of you are getting up so frequently. Ever since Christmas-time, A goes to sleep around 7-7:30pm every night and sleeps until about 3-4:00am but then he is such a monster to get back to sleep. He wants to part-ay. I usually nurse him and he's sleepy again but then when he goes back in the crib, he stays awake. I've tried a paci, rocking, rubbing his head (usually that works when he fights naps).
He usually just babbles. Sometimes he falls asleep, other times he gets progressively louder until I give in and just get up. But then first nap is like 6:00...and on days where I have to go in to the office, it just messes him up so much. Another facet to this is that we are sharing a room so I can't just turn the monitor volume down. I wish we had a place for him to sleep on his own but I am just not comfortable having him on a different floor. I usually just go to bed when he does to make sure I am getting ample rest, but honestly I'm going crazy because I literally have no me-time or down time if I do that. Thanks for letting me vent.
Oh, hello lyfe twin.
I could have written almost EXACTLY the same thing. Ours are only a couple days apart so they must both be going through the same nonsense. I started after Christmas and has gotten progressively worse since her shots on 12/30. And I think separation anxiety is contributing, too. I am officially OVER IT.
