I posted some of this in the pregnancy thread, but I thought I'd update here for those interested.
On 12/29 I went to my regular OB appointment and found out that I had incredibly high blood pressure. It was 163/122 or something of the like. This prompted her to dip my urine which indicated high protein So on Friday I picked up the supplies for a 24 hr irons catch.
Saturday we swing by the hospital to drop of the urine sample, and they pull me in for another BP check, it's again like 154/116. So they ask me to stay until my urine results come back. Well eventually they did, and it diagnosed me with PreEclampsia. I had a break down in the monitoring room, and begged the Dr to not admit me. Julie was begging me to be admitted as she knew it would be best. After a 20 minute melt down I admitted defeat and let them admit me.
I am 33 weeks as of today. They will deliver me as early as 34 weeks if my labs start to go wonky. The latest they will let me go with PreE is 37 weeks. No matter what I can't go past that.
I am on "take it easy" bed rest until delivery, I can walk and move around and stuff just nothing strenuous.
So today my medical team came in, and said that they would monitor my blood pressure for another 24 hours, and if it stayed at a managable level with no other symptoms that I could be on rest at home.
Knowing how quickly PreE can take a turn for the worst now, I am a bit worried to do this. I only live 10 minutes from the hospital, and I have remained asymptomatic I never would have known had it not been for my 24 hr catch and BP.
The BP seems to stay in check until about the time my meds wearoff. I guess I'm just a little worried to go home, I don't want anything to go wrong. Im hoping to cook this baby to 37 weeks!
I'm at the University of Iowa Hospital and I am beginning to learn that they don't screw around with this kind of stuff. If I was to discharge I would have to come in daily for NSTs and BP check, and then every two days they would run blood labs. I just feel safer here, but at the same time I'm miserable here.
