Atticus discovered Alexa on the Amazon Dot this weekend and he keeps telling her to play "Caribou" by the Pixies. He thinks this is the funniest thing ever.
Do you like the Dot? Do you know how it's different from the echo? I'm debating and can't figure out the difference besides the size.
I'm really not sure what the difference is. I like the Dot. It's helpful when I have my hands full and need to update a shopping list or add a reminder on my calendar and can just tell her what to do.
The PBS app isn't overly user friendly, but you can still watch Curious George there.
pbs kids seems pretty easy, just character pictures on the main page. but the adult app for finding Sherlock seemed a bit tougher
It's easy to find the specific show, but I have yet to figure out how to find specific episodes aside from forwarding or reversing, and checking the info for the title. I've been spoiled by the Disney Jr. app, that thing is so easy to navigate!
nam2013 , I had the same thing happen with T. It drove me nuts, and now I'm sad.
Exactly this. Kids are just one big mindfuck I guess.
We kept letting Chase nap on us on the weekends because, baby snuggles. Except then his nighttime sleep went to shit so we've had to break the habit. Nights are definitely improving but I was really enjoying those naps knowing they wouldn't last forever. Boo.
I just shopped cruises. Dh and I went on a cruise 10 years ago from Boston to Bermuda. I'm dying to go on vacation and want some sort of structure with C and I'm thinking this cruise could be a good fit. Has anyone taken their N13 on a cruise? Any pro tips? I know dh will be like "7 days away is a lot" but I also think it will take C a few days to adjust before we have fun.
I wouldn't do it again wedding. Not until my kids are older. Granted, I had 2 to take care of, one of them being a 1 year old . . . but it was too much "waiting" and not enough "doing." There is just always something to wait for - even boarding the ship was 3 separate waiting lines for various things. Getting off at port meant more lines, then back on the ship again - more lines. There are things to do on the ship like rock climbing, surfing simulator, arcade, basketball, mini golf. I just found my kids to be too young for most of it. The days at port were the best because they love the beach. So it was nice to be on the beaches and spend some time in the different areas. With that in mind, mh and I said next time we would skip a cruise altogether and stay at a resort!
lahdeedah88 ugh that sucks, your H not being able to plan ahead. My dh is a teacher and while we can only go on holiday during peak season at least we have 12 weeks a year where we can plan to go away. Luckily I have a very flexible boss, so 9 out of 10 times it's okay for me to take a few days off.
It sucks BAD! I'm a planner by nature, so not being able to plan to travel when I want to sucks. I usually take a few days off around the holidays to visit family, but if it's the only time of year I have to travel, so be it!
Doctor appt resulted in double EI diagnosis for S. The pedi put her on omnicef again and I'm being proactive with the probiotics and diaper cream. DNW diarrhea and terrible rash again. Then we went to target for her script. I got home and had to switch cars with my sister which was a giant pain in the ass, literally. I got all the car seats in her car, put my nephew in through the back hatch. As I was climbing out I slipped on the ice and fell on my ass. I bet I have a huge bruise. Also, it was like 10 degrees when I was switching the seats around so my legs and fingers were numb.
Sorry Z is sick snoopmommymom. I hope she's feeling better soon.

I am not a cruise person at all, so I can't speak to that at all. But I'm all about vacations with my kid, I always try to aim for 7-9 days now. I feel like if I have to pack his stuff and make the flight somewhere, I'm spending as much time as possible before making the trip back.
After 6 odd months of only wanted to sleep on top of me, needing to be rocked for hours on end to fall asleep, dd has now developed polar opposite. At night, when she's ready for bed, she keeps fussing and whining until I put her in her crib. After I put her down she cries for about a minute or so and then falls asleep while I sing and stroke her forehead. Is it weird that I'm somewhat saddened by this...?
I was so sad when L started not wanting to be rocked (though she wasn't as extreme as J Now I get frustrated when sbe can't settle because she doesn't want me to hold/rock her, but doesn't want to be put down!

nam2013, whatever he throws, take it away. The item is put in time out for a certain amount of time. If after the item is given back, it gets thrown again, then they can't have it back until the next day.

We do similar to this, but he just finds something new to throw. Luckily it's just when he's mad, not all the time. Drives me nuts though.

Cadence likes to hit. We're working on it, but not very well. Last night she was hitting her Anna doll and I told her we don't hit. "I'm just hitting HER, she's not real." "We don't hit ANYTHING." "Fine." and she threw it across the room. Awesome.
wedding if you want a warm-weather vacation but decide to skip the cruise, there's a resort in the Keys, Hawks Cay, that is really nice and terrific for families. We're actually looking at doing a spring vacation there next year since we'll be in VA.

I ordered a book trilogy on Amazon. I got them today, but opened it and it's a box of Stevia packets. Color me confused. I emailed the seller to see wtf, cause not what I ordered. They better get me my books!

Mh just said his friend is coming over. Suddenly Cadence is all about taking a bath and getting "ready" for his arrival. I think she loves him....Or loves the fact that he brings her candy.

Book update: seller apologized profusely. Apparently the labels got mixed up. Poor stevia user is going to be surprised whe they open the 50 shades trilogy!

klongoria11 that is hilarious!! I have them if you want me to bring them to gymnastics.
They are going to send me a new set. I just need to read them by Feb. I'm going with a friend to see the 2nd movie.
Oh, and we won't be at gymnastics on Saturday. We're going to San Antonio to visit my brother and they requested 11:30, which isn't enough time for gymnastics and driving.
