Well, H is back at work this morning. We both cried no less than 20 times each between last night and this morning. He's missing the babies so much, already text me several times.
I'm celebrating making it an hour and a half so far. It's supposed to be nice here today (50 and sunny) so I might take them for a walk.

kleigh - thinking of you on this first day. You got it Mama! It's -20 to -30 here for the next 2 days. I am so sick of the cold and it's only January. Uggggh.
Also - we are starting to potty train DS1. Ladies - pray for me. LOL!!
Hahahahahaha. Sending you a subscription to wine of the week club now.
eta: I shouldn't say that. I'm sure you will be fine:) DS was actually pretty easy with #1, but we are still struggling with #2 months later (he won't have accidents, he just holds it until he gets constipated, and/or demands to be put in a pull-up). We did the 3-day method and it was pretty effective.
kleigh you are going to rock this! Would you bring the babies over for lunch one day? Might make it easier on h and would definitely break up your day.
tjanca22 +1 on loving those flamingo jammies! She's so cute!

waitwhat - DS1 turn 3 on Friday. We have been doing this very sporadically for a few months but upped the ante and bought treats a few days ago to entice him. So far it's working.
ETA: LizInFL - we have only had success with pee, not poop yet. I have heard that it can take forever to master that!
tjanca22 She is just precious and I LOVE the flamingos...do you mind me asking where you got that sleeper?
I can ask my friend who got it for Christmas for her. I absolutely am in love with it and want it in every size so I never have to pack it up and put it away. We tend to start a theme for each kid and stick to it. Flamingos for L, so if you see monthly photos of her with a flamingo, that's why. Then I'll do her 1st birthday party in a flamingo theme. For DS it was a sock monkey theme and loved it!
I had finally convinced myself that today was the day I was going to start yoga. Got the bag all packed and was ready to go. Until I realized today is Wednesday, not Tuesday. The Wednesday baby class is at 9am. So tomorrow I will start yoga; I'm holding myself accountable here!
Today I am going to begin putting Christmas toys away and purging/storing old toys. This could be a disaster.

Glad all you ladies have potty training experience with boys. I'll be picking your brain when our time comes! What age do you usually start he process? I'm terrified.
Same here! I'll need support when we hit that time too. Right now he poops in his diaper then says potty and asks to sit on the potty. How do we change it so he says potty first? We've had 2 successful times on the potty. I'm not pushing anything yet because he's only 19mo, but he seems very interested and if he's willing I wouldn't mind taking advantage of this window.

Yes definitely! They get their immunizations Friday so I'm going to do so next week. Bc we've both worked there for so many years we know a lot of people so I'll visit his coworkers first, then w'll have lunch, then visit my coworkers.
Morning! Having a relatively productive morning, it always starts that way and then dissolves into a useless afternoon. Anywho, I showered while N finished her car nap in her carseat in the doorway of bathroom. I got my pump out and ready to use, so hoping I get a chance to soon. I struggle getting things picked up or tackling any projects though..
I have my 6 week pp appt this afternoon, so I'm excited to see my doctor (is it odd that I love her?).

We originally started DS around 2 1/4, but it was too soon. I gave up after a couple days. We waited till he was about 2.5 or so and he did much better. I liked the 3-day method and after going through the process I'd recommend going straight to underwear...in our experience using pull-ups just drags things out.
ETA: I'd start by getting a little potty or seat for the toilet, and sitting him on it at bath-time, or before bed, or whatever. B was very comfortable with the potty, which is why we made the attempt shortly after he turned 2; I just think biologically he wasn't 'there' yet in terms of understanding the urge to go until later.
starbuck27 DS is awake maybe an hour? Including the eating time. I would definitely try and get them back to sleep sooner. Maybe trying sooner will make it easier so less fighting. And yes you are putting to much pressure on yourself when it comes to interaction. It will come now it's about eating and sleeping and growing first.
Today is mom's group at church except I had two screaming kids this morning so instead one got the TV and the other got the boob. I was ready for H to go back to work and now I regret that lol. Well today I do, once they feel better it will all be good.
DS is two months today! And DD turns 2 in three weeks eek! If you ask DD she will tell you Santa comes in 3 weeks, I guess he is the only one who brings presents haha.
I just pulled out my sleep book to look up awake/sleep times! So this book says that 90 minutes is ideal. So at 75 min, you should start to wind down and do mini nap routine.
I am def not doing a nap routine, but awake time does range between 1 and 2 hours.
My pedi says their longest awake time should be their first one. This will help them orient to day time/ night time easiest.

Here's my little man this morning! I wish I had my phone on me when I took him upstairs to change his diaper. He thought it was just hilarious that he made such a mess and was smiling like crazy!

starbuck27 I think C stays up for 2 hours sometimes but I haven't been good at tracking it. I'm always wondering the same thing about interaction time but more like when will we have time to do everything, especially when he gets older and wants to play more. Plus balancing housework and taking care of me.
hangry what time is considered the first wakeup? If C wakes up at 5 or 6, I try to put him back to sleep for a couple more hours. Should we be starting our day instead?

I just got an invitation to a one year olds birthday party.. at Chuck E Cheese. What can a one year old do there exactly? And it's a joint party with another kid that I don't know.
goldenlove3 I think the 5-6 am wake up is still considered night for them. I think this because they should be getting 12-14 hours at night. So unless you are putting them to bed at 5, it would still be nighttime at 5am. I'll have to look at the book again to confirm that theory.
waitwhat - we started potty training at 2.5. He did well with pee after a few weeks. I had to be diligent about taking him to the bathroom regularly. He just turned three and can go long stretches and will tell me when he has to go. Pooping was a whole different ballgame. He pooped in his underwear every day for months. He finally turned the corner at the beginning of December.
It is obnoxiously cold here this week. The high for today is only supposed to be 4 degrees. I got my workout in already so my plans for the afternoon include the couch and Netflix.
The ultra clingy has gotten to me so he is now in his swing downstairs where I can't hear him. Although I am guessing he has woken up his sister. I just can't with it today.
waitwhat My sister tried starting her son at 2.5 and was having a hard time so she stopped. She then tried at 3 and he pretty quickly took to peeing but still wanted a diaper to poop. He ditched the pooping diaper about 4 months in.
starbuck27 Mine are usually awake for one and a half hours and then sleep for a half hour and then up again to feed (so two hour cycles). That varies, sometimes they'll go right down after eating. Sometimes they'll nap 2 hours or more. But if they miss more than one "nap" holy hell they are not happy. Adelines most wakeful time is the 7:00ish wake up (Alec goes right back to sleep). Alecs is the 9:00ish wake up (Adeline wants to sleep here, maybe the stimulation from prior time?). So I try to interact and play with them during those times, it's usually not together. I was actually thinking I do something wrong bc my kids eat every 2 hours and it seems like ally more often than others, this interferes with long naps.
Babies are sleeping off a hella screamfest. Neither one would nap after eating since like 7 this morning. So around 1:00 the three of us just sat and cried. Took them on a walk and they fell right asleep but woke the second we got back in the house which led to screamfest the sequel.
Now they are passed out on mommy again, much like the other day. I need to read about leaps/growth spurts - or maybe they're just having a rough couple days. They were 8 weeks this past Saturday (2 months tomorrow).
So here's my babies - don't mind the trashy sports bra/tank top look, I took my sweatshirt off:
ETA overnight I am not using pillows/blankets with baby sleeping on me - that is only done when I can monitor

H and I are both sick. He started throwing up at like 4am, I started at about 9. Neither one of us can keep anything down. Thankfully my ILs are beautiful people and they're coming to get DS1 for a sleepover and also bringing us some 7up and chicken noodle soup. We'll (more like I'll) still have to take care of DS2, so hopefully he's nice today and takes naps and doesn't scream in my face.

kleigh thinking of you on your first solo day! I'm sorry it's been rough so far.
O is very difficult to put down for naps. He fights them so much. I aim for 1.5 hours awake time and then I try and put him down. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
