It's Friday and H's off Friday so it's like a 3 day weekend here. We have DS's 2 month appointment at 9, we are podering heading over there now and going to ihop beforehand. Big sister would love it and I don't have to think about food. I am thinking we are cutting it too close though considering she isn't out of bed.
H tried to give C a bottle this morning and he flipped. Who knows why but I am guessing since the milk was warmed we need to toss it? Probably a moot point since it likely won't f used with 24hrs of thawing but would be nice to know.
Waiting on a plumber. Massive and possible long term leak found in our crawl space this week and they think it's coming from my bathroom. Being an adult is FUN.
Running off of two hours of sleep and we have our shots tomorrow. I'm looking for the next step to get the reflux under control. She can't even yawn without a choking episode now.
Lillian let me sleep until 7:15. Lilah only had one wake up pretty late in the night. So I feel relatively rested. But...it's 26* here which is very cold for us. And my allergies are pretty bad today. I hate cedar so so much.
We are going to a playdate at another mom's house this morning. It's a story and then a craft which should be fun. I need to go to Target, but I really don't want to with it being so cold. I'll probably just work on stuff at home until it's time to pick up dh. Lillian hasn't napped the past 2 days outside of the car. Maybe she will today.
I think we let L sleep too much yesterday! That or sucking seems to be soothing!?! I ended up giving him a pacifier last night after passing back and forth between boobs several times! He wasn't drinking/swallowing and he was irritating my nipples so he got cut off! He'd be dozing but fussy when I'd lay him down. I feel like every time I think I figure something out, he likes to throw a curveball!
aggiebug, I love breakfast foods, I hope you got to IHOP! I hope the appointment went well too.
Happy birthday cheshie6!! I hope you get lots of good naps, no blow-outs, and a decent night's sleep tonight
sophiegrace Sorry to hear about the plumbing issue, stuff like that is THE WORST. Hope the appt. goes well.
DS slept til 7:30 this a.m., which constitutes 'sleeping in' around here. We had a busy day yesterday and I think he was exhausted. This morning we're meeting a friend and her girls at library story time, and may do lunch with them at CFA afterwards.
H had his follow up from his tongue/lip tie revisions. It seems I stopped doing his stretches too soon as it was partially grown over again . I feel really bad. She was able to break it with her fingers rather than having to cut it again, but he cried so much. Gonna have to do the stretches from scratch for another 3 weeks now...
The stretches were the absolute worst part of DS's tongue-tie revision, once we got it healed. He was 18 months old, but not super cooperative, and it's hard to get a toddler to do stuff like that. I can't even imagine what you'd have to do with a newborn. Sorry you have to do it again
danib sorry to hear about the exercises. I can't imagine how hard that must be to do considering how upset he gets. I hope the next 3 weeks fly by.
sophiegrace that sucks about the plumbing. I was an extra adult this as I had to buy a new washing machine, call an hvac guy for furnace problems, and bring my car to the mechanic. Do not like adulting.

Friday is still exciting even though it feels like every other day right now.
Colin has his 2 month appointment at 12:30 today. Hoping he does well with the shots. I thought about going to see my mom afterwards but he might just need to sleep it off and I'd rather be home.
I need to go get ready. I'm in desperate need of coffee so I'm trying to leave early so I can stop at Tim Hortons.
Oh and I had a dream that Colin started walking. Like my 2 month old was walking all over the place and driving me crazy lol.
So relieved that the hvac guy was able to do a temporary fix to our furnace for only $150. But he couldn't predict how temporary though. He's seen it last 1 week to 2 years. Hoping for the later because who wants to replace a furnace?! Especially after buying a new washing machine this week.
But by scheduling this appt I had to miss the baby yoga class this morning. Guess I'll have to find something else to break up the day.
DS was super uncooperative this morning and it took 1.5 hours to get out the door...And that is with me and N basically in PJs...Doesn't bode well for when I have to get all of us out and ready for the day in March.
I was able to pump and do my first bikini body mommy workout (the 5 series, not the new one) before N woke up - so I officially got my first workout in! Granted it was maybe 10 minutes long, I'll take it!
I am debating either a walk with N to run errands in town, or venturing to target. I hate driving her during the day since she's in her carseat so much on school days.
Sorry to hear about the septic. I'll send over a bottle sophiegrace
I took C in today for a rash. He must have picked up a virus recently because the doctor said it is viral. I hope it clears up soon. No big plans for the weekend. I rented Finding Dory and am excited to watch it with DS tonight.
waitwhat I would bring it up with the doc today. If for no other reason than they can give you some specific things to look for in the next few weeks before his appointment. You could even pose it that way so as not look like you're high jacking the appointment and their time.
Are there any specific things that are most concerning? You could mention that too.
waitwhat Definitely bring it up if concerned, but anecdotal - at 18 months my DS had maybe 5 words, so doc suggested a hearing test and we get a county eval for services. His hearing was fine, and by the time we got an appt to evaluate him 7 weeks later, his speech had picked up enough so that he was fine. He didn't really pick up until closer to 21 months though. I also am in the camp of worrying and wanting to know if something is wrong so you can take action quickly. I am sure your doc will discuss even though it's not his appointment. Try to lay off the Google, of course easier said than done..
aggiebug We also had our 2 month appt today ! How'd C do with the immunizations? I hope all enjoyed IHOP !
sophiegrace Which superhuman force did you piss off? I'm so sorry you might have to spend money on such a NOT FUN thing. And on top of that I'm even more sorry that M is still having really bad reflux issues. Our pedi just switched AV's formula today bc she's not gaining as much as he'd like and she's spitting up more now than she was previously.
waitwhat You should definitely raise your concerns if something seems off. If it's nothing the doc would say so. I'm sure they get crazier questions from other moms. I would say something like, "I have an appt for B at the end of the month and I was going to bring up some concerns about potential autism. Is there anything I should be looking for before that appointment?"
So I hadn't mentioned this but we brought Adeline in to pedi earlier this week because she had been pooping at almost every diaper change (about 9 times in 24 hrs) and spitting up more than her usual and MH was concerned about dehydration. While there she weighed in at 8lb 13oz! She has since lost 2 oz.
So today we had our 2mo appt, both babies did well. Of course Alec turned shy and didn't want to show off his super impressive head holding skills but that's ok. So as of today's appt Alec has doubled his birth weight! From 6lb 5oz ..... to 12lb 3oz ! He's our little chunky butt.
But Adeline is not gaining as much as the doctor would like, esp since (although not always a good indicator) he sees Alec gaining so much more, and she has reflux issues, and although not always reliable we can kind of use Alec as a barometer since they started out at a similar weight and were born together. So her formula has now been switched, let's hope for some results. She's gone from 5lb 12oz at birth to 8lb 11oz today.
Enjoying 5 minutes of quiet in between staggered feedings. Both babies are giving me naps today ! Not sure if it's from the shots but I will take it!

Just got back from our appointment and Colin did really good! He's meeting all his development goals. He gobbled down the oral vax and didn't even notice one of the shots. The second shot he cried for about 30 seconds. But then he started crying for food as soon as well left of course. He's eating right now and will hopefully take a nice long nap so I can eat lunch myself and get some things done around the house.
Also I'm guessing that my scale is jacked up because I weighed him at 12.4 lbs last week but it was lower yesterday. Today his official weight is 12 lbs .5 oz.
Hola! We went to a trampoline park this morning for tot time and DS loved it! He jumped and ran and had so much fun for 2 hours straight! I love this age because we can actually do some fun activities now and know he will get some enjoyment from them!
No appointment for us today since L is the tail end of the month, but hopefully these babies give you ladies some much needed rest!
sophiegrace Oh no! Sending all the wine. I have Bailey's too if you're into that.
waitwhat I agree with the approach of asking what to look for. For us, Lillian does the tiptoe thing and doesn't always respond to me talking to her. Tiptoe walking can be a sensory thing, but not necessarily an issue or related to a larger concern. Some kids just prefer it. She's only does it about half the time now. The not responding thing has become clear to be either her being distracted or purposely ignoring me. How many words does he have now? The cdc says it's a concern if they don't have 6 words by 18 months. Also, receptive language is still more important than spoken words. We didn't hit the "language burst" until closer to 20-22 months. Now she says all kinds of stuff and has a couple hundred words.
Late again! cheshie6 happy birthday!! starbuck27 GL with the snow; I know things can get crazy when it snows in the south. waitwhat hugs. It's normal to worry and hopefully you will get some reassurance or at least some guidance at the appointment.
I got to have lunch at my favorite Indian buffet today! Maybe coincidence but after all that fenugreek my boobs feel super full this afternoon haha! My friend also stopped by with a big container of homemade meatballs for us. Good thing my diet starts Monday.
H is going to the Celtics game tonight with his cousin, who offered the tix last night. I am highly annoyed by this; not necessarily at H but in general. DH and I actually had a productive convo about why it's so annoying. Basically I feel like everyone sees him as a free man now that he's back to work and no one thinks twice about asking him to go out and do fun things because the assumption is that he's got childcare lined up (i.e., me). Whereas no one ever asks me to do anything because the assumption is "well of course she can't go out; she has a 7 week old."
This shit seriously happens all the time. Apparently a coworker also invited him to a hockey game tomorrow night too (he knew well enough to decline that one at least). This double standard made me salty when I had DS and it's got me salty again.
I'm trapped with a Lillian who is whiney and doesn't know what she wants and a fussy baby who will not nap for more than 10 minutes even being held. Yay.
waitwhat Glad to hear the dr wasn't concerned at all. Google is rarely a friend to us. Yes, animal sounds count as well as signs. Lillian used to always just point and whine so we taught her to sign please and also finished. She now says both words. We also repeat words for her to say and ask her to be specific. Like she'll say "more!" and we say, "more what?" And then lead her to whatever it is and we say it for her over and over. For example: L: more, more! Me: more what? L: more! Me: more milk? L: Yeah. Me: can you say more milk, please? L: more milk. Please.
She's if course older so we're working on sentences, but you get the idea. I've also tried to stop asking yes or no questions. Like instead of, "is the ball blue?" I'll say "what color is the ball?" Not sure if any of that is helpful or not.

I'm still making my way through the thread but waitwhat, my toddler does everything you said except walk on his toes. At 2.5 he's still catching up on speech, used his whole hand to point up until a few months ago and doesn't always respond when I call his name (I'm pretty positive this is selective hearing at it's finest). Autism has never been brought up at any of his appointments. Definitely talk to the pedi if you're worried though!
waitwhat glad you got some reassurance from the pedi. I can't recall if it was at B's 18-month or 2 yr well-check, but they had me fill out a form called M-CHAT that gauges autism risk. based on the parent's observations of speech, behavior, etc. So you may see something like that at his next appt.
