What books are you reading or have you read to guide you during pregnancy or to prepare for birth and parenting?

Last time I had the Mayo Clinic pregnancy book, and also got the Mayo Clinic guide to baby's first year. Not sure if that was the title, but something like that. I really liked them. They were informative without much fluff. Easy to navigate so you can pick it up and find the section about the stage you're in right now, and read about what's coming up. I plan to read them again, but we just moved and I'm not sure where they are, and I can't remember if I gave them away.

This time I want to read something about labor/delivery. I didn't last time because we took a class that focused on strategies for un-medicated delivery. I found it empowering to know that I had the tools to give birth without drugs, even though that wasn't my plan.

This time, I am freaking out a little about delivery because my last one was pretty awful, even with the epidural. Looking for a book to give me a little pep talk.

Last time I read Ina May's guide to childbirth- iirc there a bunch of birth stories as well as info about labour.


ETA her book focuses on med free childbirth. I opted for an epidural after 24 hours (total, not all active labour) so I found strategies helpful for the first part (well I forgot everything until my MW reminded me, but then it was helpful). The epidural took well for me, and I remember calling it magic juice in the hospital.

We got the Happiest Baby on the Block on DVD and found it extremely helpful. Now I gift it for every baby shower I attend.
