Yesterday dd fell at daycare and bit her lip. It looks pretty bad, but not emergency bad. She's acting like herself. All I can think about is the scar it's going to leave by her mouth and she already has one on her eyebrow. It's so shallow to be worried about looks, but I am.

One morning I could not find Eli's toothbrush and was already running late. I didn't want him going to daycare with funky breath, so I used DD's brush for his teeth. I scrubbed the hell out of it both before and after with scolding hot water, but still...ewww...and not one of my best decisions.

I have told you guys about a very good friend of mine that is sort of on the selfish side. I have previously referred to her as tacky friend. This is going to be long. Anyway she has a really good job and makes about double what her husband does. They rely pretty heavily on her paycheck. She got pregnant and had a borderline high risk so she was out on medical leave and was still getting paid. After she had her baby she took all the maternity leave that she was entitled to. That's fine, I am glad she spent that time with her DD. When she went back to work she worked for about a week or two and then "got hurt" at work and has been out for a year. She sprained her ankle. The dr says she tore a ligament or something but she seems fine. She went to Disney and to an indoor water park and several other things that she has to walk around a lot. That's why I can't buy that she is that hurt. She was still getting paid from her job. A year passed and they are no longer required to hold her position. They fired her. She can be reinstated but it takes time. Confession 1) I don't really feel bad. I don't want them to struggle but She worked less than two weeks in two years because her company has a very liberal leave policy and she took advantage of it. Confession 2) now that she isn't getting paid her husband set up a go fund me so they can get help paying their bills. I am judging them for it. They had money. They spent it on vacations and leasing a new car.
marygracerich she sounds... special. I wouldn't feel bad either. What was her job? She really couldn't do it with a sprained ankle?
I feel bad because I don't want them to struggle because the stress is terrible but they sort of did it to themselves. Her job involves driving and it was her right ankle that is hurt. My whole thing is that why is she ok to walk around Disney, even with a brace on but you can't drive?!

Yeah that sounds weird. Her employer sounded incredibly flexible. It does sound like she put herself in this position.

Rub vitamin E oil on it. (You can get the vitamin gel caps and cut them open.) Seriously, it's amazing stuff.
Huh marygracerich. Regardless of whether or not she actually hurt herself I think the taking of vacations while you're on medical leave and not sure if you'll be able to return to work is insane. I would judge that too.

Spin off confession: I just recently started brushing M's teeth. He's had teeth for a long time now. What makes it even worse is that he seemed scared the first time I brushed them. Not my best mothering or lack there of moment. I do have a dentist appt set up for him though and he likes brushing now. (Silver lining)?

I am pretty sure she thought she would have been cleared to go back to work before they fired her but she wanted to push it until the very end of the policy. She then couldn't get an appointment with the work dr to clear her before the 1 year was up. That's how she ended up fired which doesn't make the situation any better but explains why she spent the money. It was all the walking while on these vacations that has me wondering how bad should could have been hurt.

The whole thing just seems really strange. They seem irresponsible. I would not contribute to that.
Aren't there insurance people that will start following you to make sure you're actually still hurt and not "milking it" I would be worried someone was watching me. That's crazy to go on Vaca while on leave from work for being injured.

Yep. Workers' Comp Agents. If she posted these photos all over social media she could easily get sued.
robotpcr - sorry to sidetrack here but tell me more about this vitamin E oil....will it help with stretch marks?!
Hmmm, I don't know. Maybe? Vitamin E is pretty cheap so it probably couldn't hurt to try. You want to massage it in for a few minutes (or on a child for as long as they'll let you). I had a bad dog bite right under my eye as a kid and the plastic surgeon that stitched it up told my parents to use vitamin E on it. I only have a few light scars that people can see if I point them out.

Not trying to butt in but I have some info on that:
I used Vitamin E oil on my old c-section scars from my first two kids, and you can barely see it now. Great for basic scars.
As far as stretch marks-- I recommend Bio Oil which is more complex than basic Vitamin E. I used tons of that during and after pregnancy and it was a mini miracle.

Yes. When she would leave the house she would carry a cane with her and she didn't drive herself around. However in the house she didn't use and we went shopping in Walmart and she didn't use it. Also there are pics on Facebook of her at Disney (I haven't seen them because I don't Facebook) but I have been told she isn't seen with a cane in any of them.

Confession 3) I sort of hoped she would get caught. Not because I want her to get sued but maybe to be forced to return to work before she wanted to. Honestly for all I know she could be seriously injured but she doesn't seem like it.

Last confession about my friend. I am seriously sad that I feel this way. She and I used to be super close. She has just turned into a very selfish person. I love her despite the fact that she has screwed me over numerous times.

Oh. So it seems like she somewhat knew what she was doing.

Yeah. That's why I am judging it. If she seemed legit hurt, I would only side eye the go fund me not the whole situation. Everyone we know thinks she fine but we aren't doctors so who knows.

Ours is more temporary but this is how I felt when E knocked out her front tooth. She is fine and it could have been worse but her little smile for the next 4-5 years

Hi twin. I have a scar on my temple from one. People rarely comment (it's more an indentation than a scar) and I never ever notice it.
