I'd like to escape for an hr today. Except it currently feels like -3° outside...brrr
Last night both kids were fighting sleep so hard. Toddler didn't fall asleep until 10:30 & Alex until 11 pm. And alex was up since 4! He was over tired by the end, he'd cry, fall asleep, wake up. And acording to the internet, my toddler is going thru a sleep regression. Awesome. The only one around here getting a good nights sleep is dh.
Drinking my coffee to face the day. I may have had a couple hersheys kisses along with it.

Guys....the babies knew it was the weekend and slept in today. I feel amazing.
I really think there is truth to to saying "sleep begets sleep." I was a stickler about naps yesterday. I put the divas down swaddled, with the noise machine in the RnPs. They napped right on schedule. MH was worried they wouldn't sleep at night. The complete opposite happened.
My PITA baby slept from 9-2am and my angel baby slept from 9-6am. And for an added bonus, they went right back down at 6 am and woke back up at 9am. I'm sure this is a weird anomaly, but I am happy about it. Makes me feel like sleep is possible.

The ILs came back over ~10. I was nursing him in his room when they got here and have been back in there twice since. Thanks for being hungry and sleepy today baby!
They helped clean up the table from their and the kids lunch.... by putting the plates with some food on it on the counter next to the sink. Food goes in trash. Plate in sink. Empty bottle of soda next to the sink. Do you think it's going to grow legs and walk to the recycle bin that's right in front of your face? DS2 and baby were napping, so it's not like they were taking care of them. They are the least helpful people every single time they come. I had a baby, but yes come visit and make a mess!

Baby has been so gassy and uncomfortable. It all seemed to start on Wednesday. We switched her to enfamil gentlease Thursday night, it seemed to help but by Friday afternoon she was again fussy and gassy. She'll sleep all night like an angel and then the days are just like nonstop fussing/crying/gas bubbles/cat naps. We're just struggling.
Thinking about trying similac sensitive but I just don't know how long to keep trying with the formula we just started a couple of days ago.
I'm concerned she's developing colic but it all seems to be gas related...
Winnifred try gripe water? My cousin had colicky babies. She said her pedi recommended giving it beforehand not when they got gassy. I don't know if that meant it was a daily dose or what.

Any thoughts?
Ugh, I wish I had some advice. The gas is the worst.

Winnifred, we switched DD from Similac Advanced to Similac Sensitive and my pedi said if you're switching to different varieties of the same brand it's pretty easy.
However, if you're switching between brands (Enfamil to Similac) it might be a harder transition.
Maybe give it a little longer? Also, someone here was using gas drops...was it @kc295905?
Guise!! I should be doing a live blog of their visit! I can't make this shit up. They came over around 10. Got lunch at Subway around 11:20. It's 1 pm and she's NAPPING on my couch! Grabbed DS2's pillow off the Mickey couch. Like do you want his blanket too?? WTF!! Do I want to nap? Oh no thanks I'm good. I'll just be busy picking up your mess! I can't!

Winnifred ugh! Sorry! I would give the formula change 1-2 weeks. I think that's what my pedi said with DS1. How often is she eating? Sometimes the sensitive isn't as filling. Since it's only been 2 days, she could still be gassy from the regular formula... I think!

Winnifred, if it's only happening in the evenings, it could just be witching hour crying. Google Period of Purple Crying. My first 2 babies went through this and it was HORRIBLE -- especially with DD1. She did it a lot longer than most babies do and it made evenings pure hell. Nothing made her happy.
Cora was a complete crank from 9-11 last night. Something needs to give with our sleeping arrangements. I just don't know what to do. She will only sleep off of me when she's sleeping in the PnP on her belly. During the day for naps, she'll sleep 2+ hour stretches that way. It's fabulous. At night when she's sleeping on me, she'll sleep for 3-4 hours at a time. Hooray for that, but it's uncomfortable, and I'm not getting great sleep like that. Every movement she makes wakes me up. If I try to lay her down when she's asleep, she's awake again within 5 minutes and pissed off because she was put down on her back.
I've been kind of forcing her into a 3 hour eating schedule the past 2 days because the snacking had gotten ridiculous. I couldn't get anything done at all. She'd eat 1/2-1oz, nap for 20-30 minutes, then demand another 1/2-1oz. She'd continue this until about 5pm when she'd finally start bigger feeds with longer periods of sleep in between. I got fed up with being tied to the couch all day and literally getting nothing done.
Yesterday was kind of rough, but today is going a little better. She woke up at 3:30am and 7:30am to eat, then was awake until around 8:45 and napped until 10:30. She ate and went right back to sleep and is sleeping away (on her belly, ugh) in the PnP. I still have to have her in my line of sight all the time since she's sleeping like that, but luckily our house is tiny enough that it's possible with her PnP in the living room.
mrswillie, I'd be making so many rudely passive-aggressive comments. I couldn't handle that shit. They need to get out! Good luck with the hiding of the bodies you'll be doing later.

That bitch has got to GO. 😲. I can't.
This is what they do EV.ER.Y time! DH is also like WTF! I had DS1 ask her how her nap was. DH took crying baby down to wake her up. If he says anything to her, like one time she was really loud while the kids were napping before, she gets all defensive and upset and he's so mean to her.

Got home from the ER at 4am, 8 hours we spent there! Luckily no blood clots, but they said there's nothing they can do about the swelling. I missed 3 feedings and have to pump and dump/not breastfeed today which really sucks. It's super rainy today so we're all just chillin' on the couch.
Also Winnifred it could be a growth spurt, they are super fussy during those and growth spurts and very frequent in the early weeks/months.
Have you tried the "colic hold" or football hold? Do you have something you can wear baby in? My DS1 was colicky. We called him king baby bc he would cry for hours, especially in the evenings unless he was being worn or walked around constantly.
Baby could be tired, even if she just slept all night. You could try swaddling and keeping stimulation to a minimum. White noise is awesome. Even the vacuum! Try rocking/bouncing. You'll figure out what your baby likes. Nolan likes to be held up for a bit after he eats.
Thank you for the advice! I have to admit I have two carriers and we've tried both, which ended up being complete meltdowns for baby. It was also recommended that we do more skin to skin, which she seems to absolutely hate. I think I just have a weird baby, lol!!
I honestly had no idea that babies would ever fuss all day long.
We'll try a few things and wait for Monday to call the dr.
My bp is too low, yay! I've been feeling light headed the past couple days and I finally made a point to take my blood pressure. I'm supposed to lower my own meds (1 pill less). I have my 6 wk ob appt this weds. Since I'm done ttc I need to go back to a different bp med. So I need to find a primary care physician.
Thanks, ladies. It's like all day long she fusses and can't get in a good nap. We're about to take her out now to see if it helps.
Yesterday it definitely got worse in the evening. You can hear the gas bubbles while she's fussing, poor girl.
I just don't know how many days I can take before switching up her formula...
I hear ya. Good luck. You may also want to consult the pediatrician before switching. They might have some advice.
And if you do switch to Similac Sensitive, we use the Target Up&Up generic and really like it.
We use the generic as well -- not the sensitive, but the regular. It agrees well with Cora. My doctors office gives us samples of regular Similac every time we go (the pros of going to a family practice instead of a pediatrician -- they don't see many babies so we get tons of their similac samples! They said they end up having to throw them out sometimes because they don't see enough babies to give them away!) and we switch back and forth between the real thing and generic with no issue at all.
