The sleep function on our toddler broke a couple days ago. Guy just turned two and probably has a tooth or two coming in. I just don't remember it being so miserable with DS1. Last nigh I got two, 3 hour naps; the second of which felt more like 180 one minute naps. He's a freakin ball of energy at 1:30. Then kicks and squirms if I lay down with him and just screams if left in his crib.
Two minutes of W and I getting into bed and dude starts yelling for us. W grabbed him and he passed out in our bed pretty quick. Of course since he's asleep I'm not. Aside from him, my sleep has been terrible the past couple of weeks. I'm not typically one to remember my dreams but they've very vivid and not so pleasant lately. On the plus side of dude not sleeping, I've up and do some mindful meditation. Put me back to sleep pretty quick. I bought W a subscription to Headspace but I don't think she's interested any more, but I'm on day 15. Love it. Perhaps a meditation thread is in order? 🤔
Dude slept well last night. That's typical though 2-3 bad nights one good. Basic sleep patterns...shameless plug for good sleep hygiene - if you don't sleep well two nights in a row don't take a sleep aid the third night. Chances are good you'll crash without it. But if you take it you increase your psychological dependence on it because you start to associate the one night of good sleep with the med even though you'd sleep well without it. Sorry, saw a few people with sleep issues today.
I hate looking at my Fitbit sleep data. On one hand it lets me know I can semi-function on minimal sleep. In the other I get a better idea of just how little sleep I actually get. No tracker is perfect, but I find Fitbit to be consistent in its readings. Seriously, little man dada needs more than an average of 5 hours a night...
I have been playing a kid's meditation to help DS1 fall asleep. Totally works! It's a progressive relaxation that suggests you say "good night" to your body. Your toes, your feet, your legs, etc. he always passes out before the 5 mins are up. Now only if he'd stay asleep. He gets up to crawl in bed or ask me to lay with him around 3 or so each night for the past week or so.
The boys crushed it a couple nights ago. Both stayed in their rooms until 5am! Everyone is sick now though so it was musical beds last night. The little one does better upright. I slept with him the recliner earlier this week. Best night of sleep for me in weeks dice he stayed asleep.
