I was woken up by my co worker texting me. I'm her sub for work and I worked for her yesterday. She had a 2016 calander still hanging up next to a 2017 one. It kept throwing me off so I took it down and threw it out. I usually help clean things up for her.
Well apparently she have very important note and dates on it and needed it. Whoops! I feel awful. But it was literally duct taped onto the wall, so it didn't seem like she wanted it for reference in the future. I still feel bad and can't fall back asleep.
easilyunamused ugh! I'm of the mindset that it's more than 10 days past the new year, so there was more than enough time to get her dates... but maybe I'm just cold hearted?

I thought that as well, but it really wasn't mine to throw away. I also don't keep important notes and dates on a work calander. So I wasn't thinking it through.
ugaqueencity - Sorry baby gave you some anxiety! Another sonogram will be fun! Random question: You play tennis, correct? Did you find some maternity shorts or pants with pockets to play in? I'm not sure what to do since I don't want to chase balls the entire time, so I need pockets.
Still bored at work. They keep pushing back our official project kick-off. Until we have dates in place, there's no urgency for the business to discuss and resolve the open items on my list.

I wore my skirts with oversized tshirts for as long as possible and just kind of folded the waist under my belly. Once I was too big for that I wore workout capris and tucked a ball in at the knee, it was a little annoying but my mobility was limited at that point anyway. I finally stopped playing at 30 weeks and I miss it but it was just too much on my back at that point
Good idea to roll the skirts under. I'll try that. Same with my shorts. Hopefully they stay up!
Also hoping I can play for a while longer. MW says as long as I'm comfortable to go for it, she just will worry about my knees due to quick lateral moves at the end of pregnancy. So hopefully I've got a while to go before it's uncomfortable. But we'll see!
We're having a baby gear discussion on June '17. Seems to be a split on sleepers with zippers vs snaps. Thoughts? I'm good to wait on buying much in sizes over 3 months until we know what we like, but what should I get for the first couple months? Plus people will want clothes on the registry since I'd rather them buy stuff we want and not random things.
@wineandcupcakes - We had the same issue with our walker when we had one for a few years. We asked her to come between noon and 3pm. She kept creeping the time up earlier every couple days until it was before 11am. I left a note asking her to go back to our agreed upon time frame and also emailed the company owner (since she wasn't the one doing the walking). You're paying her for a service. You could put it as a question: I noticed you're coming earlier, is there a reason? Then give her the reason you'd like her to stick with your agreed-upon time.
@wineandcupcakes - Interesting idea to not put any clothes on the registry. But I have no qualms about returning things we don't want or need, so that might influence our registry.

marshian personally, I would not do clothes on the registry. Frankly, people are going to buy whatever clothing they feel like. 90% of what we got at the friends/family shower was clothing and, in all honesty, I donated it all. We had to buy almost everything we still needed after that shower.
On pjs in general, I don't like sleepers and very rarely used them. I much preferred the sleep gowns but you can't use those in car seats (although the day my H dressed DS1 in one to go out was absolutely adorable and still makes me smile). Once he outgrew those, we moved to two piece pjs and haven't looked back

I get that picking out baby clothes is cute and fun, but not practical for what the parents need. And I know that it's not their responsibility, but I want useful things to have. I'll probably keep clothes off as well, if I have a shower.

Just keep in mind that not everyone will leave a gift receipt or any idea where they may have purchased the item/clothes.
I swear, gift-giving events like weddings and showers are such a social experiment.
Good call! So very true. I think we only got one gift off-registry for our wedding, which was amazing.

I always stick to the registry unless they don't have one or it's been all purchased by the time I get to it. I have a shower next weekend and they have no registry anywhere. So I got them the things all my friends with babies agree are useful. With gift receipts!
Babies do need some clothes, but not insane amounts and not frilly things you can't get on/off them and wash easily. Which seems to be what most people buy (why?!).
easilyunamused - Not a loss mom here, so I can't answer from that perspective. But we'll be waiting until after my shower to purchase anything else need. This is the first baby for us, first grandkid on my side, and only the second on my H's side. Many people have already said they're buying us something.
However, it will be tempting to buy something large (like the car seat) if it goes on a great sale before the shower.

I don't think I'll have a shower. MH and I are both from different states and we live in a state with no family and only a couple friends (and mostly guys who wouldn't be interested). So is that closer to 3rd tri for you then?
Those sound great. Otherwise I was team snaps because ds hated being mostly undressed
Definitely. I have them saved for when we start buying things.
When did everyone start the process of buying baby gear? My PaIF brain is still full force right now, but maybe after I'm well into 2nd tri?
I think I started at like 14 weeks? But I need enough gear for two babies. So when I find something on an amazing sale I buy it. We bought lots of big ticket items on Black Friday (2 carsests, 2 video monitors, 2 mattresses, etc) and managed to save about $500 over what we would have spent not on sale. There's lots of stuff people probably won't buy for your showers (diaper pad, mattress...). So you could start stocking up on that.
Whenever I buy something I make sure to add it to our BRU registry first so I'll get the cash back rewards on it too.
easilyunamused I want to say i registered at 12-13 weeks and started slowly accumulating around 16 weeks? I had a home Doppler and was consistently getting a heartbeat every few days so it helped. This time around, I didn't buy anything until a few weeks ago (24w+ now). Once I felt comfortable buying things, I got things, especially big things, as they were on sale or if I got really good coupons.

Bummer about the shower! I wonder if you could do something virtually?
My sisters are planning my shower and as of right now are looking at May when I would be around 35-36 weeks. Possibly late April when I'd be 32 weeks. Well into third trimester.
At the moment, I feel like once we have a good anatomy scan (in three weeks!) I'll get the urge to buy things. If we decide to not put clothes on the registry I might stick to that.
