Can someone please tell me how to get my baby to sleep at night? Last night he slept for one hour and then did some little 20 minutes naps between 4am and 8am.
I had my 6 week appointment today and aside from two 20 minute naps in the car he hasn't slept at all today and it's 1:15. Normally he sleeps great during the day but I'm guessing he's overtired at this point. I really hope he goes down soon because I'm on the verge of losing my mind.

Is it warm enough for a walk? Maybe some fresh air and a stroller or carrier ride would help? May make you feel better if nothing else.

It's about 32 degrees out, but it's nice and sunny. I also need to get the toddler down for a nap.
jubilantsquirrel do you have a wrap? When J is fighting it I strap him in the ergo and take some laps around the house. He's out pretty quickly. And then I can *usually* transfer him to the swing or pnp.
I might try this after I get the big kid down for a nap. He's hit or miss with the wrap, but when it's a hit he definitely passes out in it.

kleigh I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. Lots of hugs.
sophiegrace Ha. I sing some lullabies/kid songs, but mostly I play stuff I like. So does DH. Both girls have been serenaded to sleep by Taylor Swift and John Denver.
tallblonde ooh I'll have to look for this documentary you speak of. I could never be a full-on minimalist, but it's been super fun following the Kon Mari thread on parenting and getting rid of stuff.
On that note...anyone want a wok?
Oh we have one of those. I just saw it yesterday in the basement still in the original packaging.
Same, for 5 years. It was a last-minute add to our wedding registry at Williams Sonoma b/c we were running low on available gifts. Sure enough, someone got it for us. I guess I had big plans of basically being like the guys at Pei Wei, but I end up just using my go-to AllClad lidded skillet.
tallblonde I am also sentimental about items from family members and it's hard for me to get rid of gifts. I used to save every greeting card, etc. but I've gotten better and just keep the occasional one. I would literally be drowning in Hallmark envelopes otherwise...we all love to send cards.
I need to learn some lullabies. On today's docket for M's listening pleasure: santa baby and the star spangled banner.
Lol.. This is awesome. B was a needy baby and the first song that always came out was Amazing Grace; over and over and over....
The only one I know is Twinkle Twinkle. But I switch that up with random songs that I make up on the spot that don't rhyme - I'm sure they love it. They do quiet laugh at me when I do it though.
Thank you all for the support. All of my family is kind of still in shock.
I found out that he didn't know how bad the situation was. He went in thinking they were just operating to remove the one or two clots (didn't know his body was riddled with them or that the cancer was found to be Stage 4 - but the dr's did know at this point). Apparently even if they could've gotten the clots he would've been given just 3-6 weeks with the lung cancer which would've been spent in pain, fear, and worry. Oddly it brings a certain calmness knowing he didn't have to suffer that way.
We decided to bite the bullet and send DS into daycare tomorrow. H wants to leave the house at 6:45 which is hours before little man is usually even awake. The good news is he went right to bed tonight so hopefully he'll handle it okay in the morning and will actually nap at DC.
So yup, tomorrow I get a one day taste of the maternity leave that could have been. The one where he was still in DC and I could have a quiet house to myself to enjoy and bond with my new baby. I am so excited!

Have the best day. I hope you get to spend all the time soaking up little angel snuggles.
sophiegrace I wait until O is crying. He's so noisy! If I jumped at every sound I would be awake every 30 mins. Sometimes he is difficult to get back down but I would prefer the couple hour stretches of sleep I get to him being difficult to get down again.

*shakes H awake* Me: can you please roll over? You're snoring. H: you're just saying that because you want the scientific answer. Me: huh? H: the baby knows.
What the hell is he dreaming about?! And what secret scientific knowledge does my baby know?!!

ClassyMrsA, great title for thread! I accidentally fell asleep at 8pm yesterday and slept till 10pm... so Liam slept great, but slept awfully because I couldn't sleep!?! Plus blueberry tea sounds amazing 😉. LizInFL, I'll send you all the wine this weekend! How do you do diaper changes during your trip? Will you be pumping while on the road? kleigh, I'm sorry for your family's loss. T&Ps for you all! sophiegrace, L's been getting a lot of Fools Rush In! (more Elvis less UB40) +1 for singing T. Swift! Also love songs DH and I loved in college when we first started dating!
L slept really well last night, I slept awful! Then he didn't want to sleep today! We couldn't get him down and he was clusters feeding all day! I'm guessing a growth spurt!?! Why do babies seem to hit a stage where they hate sleeping? lol Don't they know they'll want it back when they're older!

Wasn't there a movie when we were kids that had the premise that babies knew a lot but lost it as they got older! But that's awesome, I too wonder what your baby knows and will it save mankind! Lol
waitwhat, didn't happen, L's too young for the first office! I got a referral to another one but no appointment till Feb 22nd! They only do this test every other week and twice a day (1:30;3:00)
