We had a sickie baby Thursday-Saturday and back to back weekends with visitors at the house (my brother then my mom). So she's been a hot mess mainly with trying to put her down at night and then get her back to sleep after MOTN feedings. Of course, while she was sick, I couldn't help but want to snuggle her so she ended up in bed with us twice this weekend. Of course that doesn't help.
I have read it shouldn't be as bad during re-trainings so let's hope so!

ladytiffany24 - DS sleep was a crapshoot while we were in Miami. As bad as it was, I was dreading coming back because of the retraining. It took us one night. So there is hope!
I'm not familiar with the history, but retraining shouldn't take as long. I have had to do it a couple of times after sickness.
Sorry, it sucks!
Agree with this. It should be quick and easy... but I think becole would disagree. Anyway, every baby is different.
Retraining for us means hours of crying for many nights. Like the original training. Ours maybe even worse. But I have a special snowflake sleeper over here.

becole We have a "special" one over here too. Last night was unbearable and I gave in and nursed/rocked her to sleep. We'll try retraining this weekend.

Nighttime sleep is back to normal, naps are not. I've been trying to get DS down for a nap since 11:30AM. He's currently screaming his head off. But the moment I walk in there he acts like its party time.

Poor you. Have you been successful yet or is still a battle?

I'm trying to decide when to retrain for the 17th time. He's at the end of his antibiotic for pink eye. I think his cold is getting better but he is still hitting his mouth and whining (teeth). Even when we give Advil at night he's still waking and crying. Last night he got Advil at 6:30 at bedtime. He cried at 7pm, 8:30, 9, 10, 11 (gave Tylenol), ate at 2:30, woke at 5:45. He naps longer than he sleep.
If we did Ferber for all those wake ups, we would have just stayed up all night since he cries for 1-1.5 hours with Ferber. And he doesn't do shorter and shorter times. Sleep training really wasn't that great for him. He will just cry forever. It seems like the only thing that changes anything is for him to be perfectly well. Which he never is. I call uncle. I have no idea.

becole man that sounds miserable. I wish I had some advice but I've got nothing since it seems like you've already tried a lot. I'd probably be at my wits end and ask the pedi for advice.

We asked the pedi who just acted surprised that he wasn't sleeping. Told us to sleep train. I told her we did Ferber. She blamed it on his sickness. I don't think there's anything else they can offer but sleep training. He even gets Zyrtec at night (because of his constant runny nose) and it's supposed to cause drowsiness, much like my breastmilk. Probably 3 weeks ago he was sleeping 6:30-4 or 5, eating and then waking at 6:30 for the day. And sickness happened and all hell broke loose. But for us- he's sick literally back to back all the time. There have been very few times between Thanksgiving and now that he hasn't been sick. I just would like to stick with the Ferber and have it work regardless of the snot running everywhere and his teeth aching. And tonight he was digging in his ears. FML if this is another ear infection. That would be 3 in 3 months.

becole Ugh sickness just seems horrible this year. I'm sure everyone will be happy to see spring already and be rid of this. Hoping he feels better soon.

Prior to Christmas holidays, L was an awesome sleeper. And then all hell broke loose. He's been sick pretty much consistently since Thanksgiving with ear infections, a C. Diff infection, suspected allergies and teething. For some reason we also thought 6 months was a great age to take him to France to meet his grandparents. He's finally back to sleeping longer stretches at night, and waking longer during the day, but my sweet angel baby that slept from 8:30pm-6am is now a jerk baby that gets up at 11pm and then every 45minutes to hour there after.
I need to start sleep training but since L's bedroom is right next door to the teenagers I've been hesitant because I know there will be screaming and then bitching.... I'm going out of town for work a work conference this weekend and am so looking forward to getting a solid 8 hours of sleep 2 nights in a row. Poor DH...

Been up with DD for an hour and a half and it's looking like there's no end in sight. She thinks it's playtime. I might cry. Tomorrow will be rough. I will need all the coffee.

ladytiffany24 - This shall pass. There's another wakeful period around the seven to eight month mark. Not as bad the the 4MW. She might be spurting or leaping. There have been times when this has happened to DS and he's been back to normal within a week or so. I found that giving him a bottle would get him back down.
ladytiffany24 misery loves company. Can the 4 month wakefullness happen at 3 months?
Yes! Those things are always give or take a few weeks. Sorry you're having to deal with that!
Wanna know the cherry on top for me?!?? Sitter texted at 2:45am that she had been up with a fever so she was closing for today. Makes me wonder if DD wasn't feeling well last night. Regardless, I guess her closing is a blessing in disguise because I've heard the roads are awful.

Also, DD has barely nursed. And my right boob is out of control engorged. Pump is at work and no way I'm going out in this! My boobs don't respond well to hand expressing. What do I do?!?!
