macaronmama, that is the perfect example. I have seen DD maybe 2 hrs each day at the MOST since Sunday. Sometimes she is sleeping during that time as well. I also have 2 other kids who need attention from me so it was absolutely not undivided time with her. I just need some time to adjust and since this is a 3 day weekend for me, I was looking forward to having some of that time back.

I know I will sound like a hypocrite right now (after complaining that I miss DD), but I agree. This is just my first week back, but as a general rule, I feel the same way. 99% of the time I have zero guilt about working. The 1% has been knocking me down this week. But only with regards to the baby, not my older two.

Man...all the sorries for these epic PP periods. Mine lasted a week and was super heavy the whole time, until it just...stopped. Full disclosure though, I started my BCP two days into it so that probably affected it. Better living through science.

I had started BCP a week before mine arrived, so I was on BCP prior to and the entire time I had it and it was still 21 days and heavy.
It's back to normal now, thank god.

DS2 is down for his first nap of the day. Whether it's a cat nap or a marathon is TBD. Some days he sleeps 20-45 minutes 3-4x a day and others he'll take 1 long 3 hour nap and a short (< 45 mins) nap in the evening.

I'm seriously thinking of conditioning his sleep a little. He's a bear on the days that he cat naps, but sleeps all night. On marathon nap days, his night sleep is shit. There has to be some kind happy medium. I feel like by now DS1 was taking 2 naps. 1 shortish one late morning and then a longer one in the afternoon. Am I cray cray? This all over the board unpredictability is killing me.

Last night my H says he's been invited to his fraternity's brotherhood weekend at a fancy golf resort but he'll probably just go one night and not two.
I laughed in his face. No, you're not going one night. "When I am able to go away for one night, you are too." This isn't a work trip, hell no to a boys weekend .

I think at this age they are supposed to be awake for about 2 hours max at a time. Mine is still only awake that long in the evenings and she isn't necessarily happy about it. She takes mostly 30-45 minute naps during the day (3-4x) or will take random long ones if we go drive somewhere. The other day she slept for 3 hours in her car seat after 30 minutes in the car (i know not supposed to leave in the car seat but I'm not messing with her naps). Her nighttime sleep ranges from a longest stretch of 4 hours to 8 hours. I think they are still figuring things out and should get more on a schedule around 4 months or maybe after the 4 month regression. We are at least starting to see a regular bedtime right now. She has been down for the night by 830 every day this week.

vavavictoria when he cat naps there is definitely a pattern. He starts to fuss about 1.5-2 hours after he last woke up, then he naps for 30-45 minutes, rinse and repeat.

When he marathons (like yesterday), he'll get fussy on the same schedule (about 2 hours after he got up for the day), go down, then stay down for 2-3 hours. It's nuts. Then he'll be awake either the rest of the evening and go to bed early or take a cat nap and go to bed at a more "normal" time for him.

Regardless of naps, bedtime has been in the same 1-1.5 hour window every night (7:30-9).

The website you directed me to awhile ago says 3-6 months: 3 naps/day lasting 1-2 hours, and awake for ~2 hours between. Bedtime 8-10pm.

iwantbacon,ksyknelvr73 - I feel the same way, usually.  I do miss my one-on-one time with DS more than I miss my girls (how bad does that sound??) during the day, but I don't feel guilty working. It's actually kind of nice to have a break from him because he's in that hard to entertain phase and he gets really bored very easily. I guess you could say I have conflicting feelings about it. lol

This is exactly how my little guy is. He sleep well at night, but only cat naps during the day. I know my girls definitely took longer naps and were on more of a schedule than he is. I really wish he would do the same!

I started my BC the day I started my period. It's not helping I would have thought it would!

It's because loving a baby is uncomplicated. They are easy to love. The love goes one way and they are forgiven for any transgressions like waking us up or puking on our fave shirt.

Yeah we aren't doing that yet. But C is 12 weeks so maybe in a week or two. What I would give for regular 1-2 hour naps. I'm sure as soon as she gets settled in daycare she will do that and then sleep like crap for me when I have her at home. Lol. I remember #1 doing this stuff and I was so ridiculously stressed bc I worked from home for weeks 7-13 of my mat leave. This time I'm just taking the pay hit and not working. Much better for my mental state.

I am going on an overnight girls thing in about a month and leaving DH with all 3 littles, BUT I discussed it at length with him and pretty much asked his permission b/c I realize it's a pretty big undertaking and I didn't just assume I was going.

Funny that you say this. I was just telling H last night how I had forgotten how stressed I feel to be chained to the baby all the time. Especially before bottle feeding is settled. I travel for work a few times a year and I'm really not sure how that's going to pan out. It's hard enough to protect pumping time when on my set schedule. Let alone in meetings in another state.

vavavictoria I think part of my problem accepting all this is that my oldest was truly a unicorn child. Swear.

However, he did NOT nap at daycare. He was a belly sleeper and they obviously can't do that. His only naps were IF he fell asleep in the swing and IF his primary teacher had the time to sit and rock him for a bit. But, he was always happy despite that. For me at home, he'd sleep 12 hours a night no problem, and then 2 solid naps on weekend days.

SO TRUE.

I transitioned to very PT and dropped daycare down to 3 days a week when DS1 was 18 months old. The first week was cool and then I was like, "What the fresh hell have I done?" No lie, we pushed TTC back 3 months because of that age. I was at my wits end.

This was my oldest as well. To a "T". He is still by far my best sleeper at almost 6 years old. That kids LOVES sleep and he still likes to take naps on weekends. My 2.5 year old believes that sleep is for the weak.

If you make it a year Bf while working full time, you're a magical unicorn, imo.
It is stressful. Emotionally, physically, hormonally- all of it. There is a joy to Bf, but it's not pumping and making "enough" and traveling and finding time and a spot to make baby milk when you're apart. I almost quit several times the first go round just because I felt so trapped. This time I've kinda settled in- okay yes baby, you get a year of my life.
