Yep. We started seeing one when ds1 was 7 months. Ds2 started seeing one at 3 months. Ours changed our life so I may be biased.
Ours does Botox injections, prescribes our baclofen, works with our orthotists, pushes to get our insurance to approve therapy, pushes and truly tries to figure out what my kids need to get to the next step. She just recently reassured me and nicely pushed me into serial casting for ds2 and it truly worked.
She has called our school, therapists to discuss plans of action, she has weighed in on our IEP. We see her about every 6 months.
The reason I say I'm biased is for ds1 we saw a neuro and gi only. Ds1 screamed day and night. We hadn't slept in more than 30 min increments in 7 months. DH and I were sleeping in shifts. Neuro told us tough luck, babies cry there is no fix. Gi said it's a neuro problem. Our pt at the time suggested seeing an old colleague of hers who has just came back to the area. He had a similar mindset as her and they could easily collaborate. It was a physiatrist. Our neuro said it was a waste but we went. I was willing to take the chance for a $30 copay. My sons have severe hypertonia. When we met him he exclaimed " why isn't this baby on baclofen!" We started him on a muscle relaxer. The first night he slept in 3 hour increments. Within 2 weeks he was waking once a night. He STTN before he turned 1. Turns out he was having severe muscle spasms from the high tone.
