Hey everyone! I just ordered the hypnobabies home course and am really excited! I had thought about med free for my first delivery but things progressed much quicker than I had anticipated and I ended up getting an epidural. It was the best decision for me at the time and I don't regret it one bit. I did however have back pain at the site of my epidural for about 5 months.
I want to try again with this delivery and see how it goes! My birth plan consists of getting a baby at the end and being open for everything in between. Delivery was my biggest concern during my pregnancy with my first and now that I have BTDT I hope not to stress about it this time around.
Anybody else coming up with plans now that we are at the halfway point?
We did hypnobirthing before our first baby and I used the concepts for both births and had two awesome med/intervention free labors and deliveries. I think the programs are similar. Our class was eight 2-hour sessions though and it sounds like you can try to do hypnobabies at home?

Yeah, I have zero time for going to classes so I picked the study at home course. Glad to hear that it worked well for you!
animaldoctor I would have your husband do it with you if you can. The class was as/if not more useful for my husband as my support person. I hope it works for you!
I did HypnoBirthing the first time around and I loved the in-person course and felt the program really jived with what I was looking for in a birth plan/experience. However, I was not mentally prepared for the hospital emergency C-section I ultimately ended up with. I had a lot of disappointment afterward.
animaldoctor I think knowing what you kind of birth you want--but being open to medical interventions--is the best way to go into HypnoBabies. I agree with sdlaura that it's important for your partner to be on board as well. Enjoy the program!
My birth plan this time is a repeat C-section. Some people I know IRL assume I will try an unmedicated VBAC this time, but because of the size of my babies and for my own mental preparedness, as well as having a LO at home already, AND the 2 extra weeks of disability a C-section affords me, I'm going to pick my baby's birthday and try not to feel guilty about the C-section.
barkley22, I will be signing up for a RCS as well. I could attempt a VBAC, but why? Who do I need to prove anything to? That and since DH and I are done after this one I will have a tubal ligation while they already have me open on the table. (Otherwise DH would go and get snipped)

Thanks for this. You're right--who DO I need to prove anything to? Or why? Excellent perspective that I needed to hear. :-)
I did Bradley the first go around which was awesome and just what my husband and I were looking for. I feel we used a lot of that with DD1 (although 30 hours into the induction I did get an epidural). This go around I am planning a homebirth and asked my midwife at the last appointment about hypnobabies, but she was inclined to recommend that DH and I just take a fun 2 hour refresher course and we will probably do a prenatal yoga for couples workshop as well. She said hypnobabies is wonderful and I can do it if I think it might help me but she reminded me I have already been through labor and know what to expect. I think at this point we are just going to go with the flow and have some fun with preparing since I am the type of person who will get hyper focused on the course and start stressing and perfecting everything.

I'm reading a book about mindful birthing, and I plan to start daily meditations soon. With my first, I just winged it. After 24 hours of labor, I needed IV meds to get through transition. I'm hoping to go completely med free this time. I think I got stuck last time because I was fighting the contractions and couldn't dilate past 8 cm. I want to learn to lean into them and let them do their work.
At my hospital, I was the only woman in recent memory to not get an epidural. The nurses didn't really know what to do with me. They were impressed that I made it as far as I did.
