So genuine question: Why are some of you not taking child free vacations? Do you not have someone that can watch the kids for that long of a time period? Or do you just not want to leave the kids?
I love my trips without kids, maybe that's an UO. I have one coming up in February. It's a way for H and I to re connect and I get a reset with a break from all my responsibilities. We try to take one every other year. But I am lucky in that my parents are extremely helpful and capable of watching my kids for longer periods of time. Both my parents and MIL/FIL live within a mile of us. It's both a blessing and a curse.
No one has offered to watch DS so we could take a trip alone since I have weaned him. While he was nursing they were constantly offering. I feel like they only offered because they knew I would refuse.
Do you all have friends with littles? I'll pick up my fitness kids sometime soon on a Friday or Saturday night so my friend and her husband can get out. They don't have family that is capable of watching so it's really the only time they get to go alone. They do it for us too. Our kids play so good together so it's not any extra work because C is so involved with playing with them and doesn't bother me!
Ours families live 15 hours away. We honestly can't afford any vacations for a long time.
DD is in bed from 7-7 and never gets up during the night. I don't feel like we need a lot of away time from her since we both work full time anyway.
As a kid, we went on a family trip every summer (by car). My grandparents died before I was born or weren't capable of taking are of us. My parents never did a trip or night away with out us, but did work some night shifts.
