Guise I'm so frustrated. Baby has been fussing at the breast and pulling off a lot. I was so frustrated earlier that I ended up giving her an ounce of pumped milk and she sucked it down and fell right to sleep. After she woke up she nursed great. Now at another nursing session she is back to fussing and pulling off. H gave her an ounce and she didn't finish it and is still fussing. I can't imagine she is this gassy but I have no idea what her issue it. Anyone experiencing or experienced anything like this? Kelly mom tells me it can be normal behavior. But I'm so paranoid about baby not getting enough and my supply being affected.
Could it be fast letdown? F is pulling off and fussing as I type this. But also won't take a bottle
Could be. She's just not consistent about being fussy. The past 2 wake ups she's nursed fine, not sure why the rest of the day was she was so fussy. Hopefully just a little speed bump for now and things will get better.
ellabee. I got the Maymom adapters and they are working out really well. I have a ton of medela bottles as well, and I was tired of rotating between what the Spectra pump gave me. Lol

Keep us updated, thelittleredm. I hope you feel better:(
vlagroupie, so, this is completely unhalpful, but. Sometimes babies are just fussy at the nip without reason. And then you just have to steel your patience (LOL, so easily said).

So, I've been soaking though my breast pads, tank and shirts from my non-nursing boo almost every feeding. But I REALLY don't want to pump at every feeding.
For those of you that use the milk-saver thingies... can you post a link to exactly what I need to buy?
When did the leaking start for you guys? My milk started coming in Sunday noonish. I keep falling asleep afraid I'll wake up soaked but haven't yet. I leaked everywhere for a couple months with #1, but I thought it started pretty much right away

I haven't leaked at all and my milk is fully in. But I didn't leak much last time.
On a good note, my supply is improving and N can handle more milk. She transferred almost 3.5 oz over 90 minutes yesterday (fell asleep between the two sides). A week ago she was only doing 1.5. She's also faster/more efficient than DS and that will only get better.
Also the chiro is helping her latch already. She can latch fast on the right now.

Was able to get W to latch for a little while and top off what he got from the bottle from my last pump session! I think he has issues with my right boob because every successful latch has been has on my left.
Most of yesterday was evaluation but she also pulled out her model and explained how the uppermost vertebrae, the Atlas, can really cause issues if it isn't aligned properly.
N has some tension in her neck and jaw that are making her do this chomping motion when she nurses instead of the nice wave-like glide. It's more work for her and more painful for me.
She used a specialized actuator/clicker at the base of her skull under her ear to help realign the Atlas.
It sounds like a bunch of woo woo nonsense but it really helped DS and just one adjustment already helped N. The trick is knowing when you can stop going without regressing...

How would I know if my supply is low? If I remember correctly, I was engorged more frequently with DS. With DD, it feels like my boobs are empty at times (which of course they aren't because I check and milk comes out!). I may just be paranoid, but I'm not sure...

Well, the boob doesn't hurt today. It's a little sore/bruised feeling but nothing like yesterday and the redness is gone. I'm also not feeling feverish at all so I'm going to do the adult thing and not make an appointment lol I'll keep an eye on it, though.

I would track the output aka number of pees. My boobs have felt softer the last few days too.

+1 to what @orangecrush said about output. I also have been feeling softer than I remember with DD. I get the paranoia about supply too when I feel like I'm not as full.

MissDemeanor, I have zero tips. DS1 took a bottle like he'd taken it all his life and we didn't start doing bottles until 5 months or so. For W,I've just held it in his mouth until he figured out how to suck on the nipple and then he was fine.
MissDemeanor have you tried having someone else give the bottle? Ds didn't like to take it from me when we started because he knew I had boobs. I think we introduced it around three weeks. He didn't do well with the Medela bottles because he kept collapsing the nipple so you could try a different bottle/nipple. Be persistent, I know it took ds a week or two to be proficient with the bottle.

Today was rough, I went to a breastfeeding latch and support group with an lc. Did a weighted feeding and he only transferred an ounce, eating on both sides. He also has only gained an ounce in 2 weeks. I really wanted nursing to work this time but it looks like we are headed to supplementation. We have an appointment with the pedi tomorrow so I guess we'll figure it out then.

So, the birth center my doula group is based out of has an evening breastfeeding and toddler group two Wednesdays a month. I'm thinking of going but only taking W with me the first time. They also have a monthly Mommy and Baby yoga class before the support group that I might attend, too.
I'm so sorry you had a rough day @meeggaanw. I understand the feels but please remember a fed baby is the goal. You are an awesome mom for finding out what is right for you.

My mw group has weekly lactation circles and play groups free of charge. Definitely going to take advantage of them.
My milk really started coming in today. Nips aren't as bad as yesterday I think because she doesn't have to work so hard. Getting her to latch and stay has been tough since last night when she got spoiled with the bottle. Even with initial latch struggles each feed, C has been on the boob pretty much the entire time we've been home. Hoping we get some sleep tonight, but not banking on it.

meeggaannw I'm sorry for the bad news But you can't know these things on your own. Supplementing not the end of the world. You can still give him some breastmilk and it's better than none.
Did the lc indicate if the issue is with baby or with your supply or both?
