Also, once he got slightly more mobile, I used the 48584938484 blankets I received spread out on the floor with his toys tossed all over and he'd roll and wriggle all over the place.
Now though he's not so interested in his toys and is interested in cords and other non baby stuff, so I have a playyard set up.
Ughhhh I just realized if we really do go camping with the baby we don't have a portable crib for her. So maybe I should put the pack n play back on my list?
Sorry I totally don't go here, but I'm loving all the advice. Re camping with baby, my 4mo niece slept in her moms suitcase when our family went camping so I figured I'd either do that or a laundry basket since is typically bring something like a laundry basket to carry stuff/fill with all the random little things while driving. A pnp would be way too big for our tent and car.
I was thinking of getting something like this but a laundry basket would work just as well! It looks pretty small though so it won't last very long as a bed but at least it also doubles as a play mat.

@milano I don't use one personally. But Kim Ormsby the founder of Grovia diapers swears by hers. My understanding is it helps babies deal with the "open spaceness" of their cribs or pack n plays. A lot of parents swear by them and yes for sleeping.

Similar to the rolled up towel in a u shape under the sheet, I think.
Is anyone getting a dock-a-tot or know anyone who is using one? I don't fully understand what they are used for. I keep reading the description on various websites and I still don't get it. Could you use it in your bed as a co-sleeper? Are they even supposed to sleep in it?
I had one on my registry but I read so many reviews of how unnecessary it was that I ended up not purchasing it. I was seeing it in a lot of YouTube videos, obviously those people were given it for free or being paid to advertise it.

It's supposed to be used in your bed for co-sleeping. They're not approved for use in a crib unless it's the toddler sized one, which can go in a toddler bed or regular bed.
I won't personally get one because I think they're expensive and there are other ways to get the same feel

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm leaning towards. Kind of pricey for what it is. I thought it might be nice to use in our bed, but her crib will be 6 ft from our bed already- and I still have a RNP from DS that we used occasionally at night if he was needing his pacifier put back in his mouth constantly.
This is where I am at too. She has a crib in our room and a rock n play. I think it's unnecessary.

Thanks to the play mat recommendations I went and got my very own penis giraffe mat! It seemed to be the largest in size so I feel good that 2 babies can enjoy it together.
I wanted the gym that turns into a ball pit but DH was adamant that ball pit + dogs was a bad idea.

Do I need a stroller caddy? My stroller (Mountain Buggy Nano) doesn't have anything in the way of a console. If they are useful, any suggestions/favorites?

As I have no idea what this is, I would say it is not a need..

We ended up getting one for our Britax B-agile (we got the Britax brand one and it worked fine). I often like to have a bottle of water and my cellphone accessible and having a caddy is definitely helpful for that.

hpnegirl, a stroller caddy usually has a space for cups/bottles and a few compartments for other things. A lot of strollers come with them attached but some do not.

I got a 3Sprouts one for my Vista. I dont know if it is the best but it has a cute hedgehog on it so I was sold! I also would have considered a skip hop one.

Yes! I hate not having somewhere to put my phone or a bottle of water when we go for a walk. No brand recommendations though because I still need to find one for our stroller.

moutonrouge definitely not a necessity but it's really nice. We have an embroidered one from 31. I like it because it has two cup holders, a zippy pocket (perfect for keys or cell phone) an then a big hang down mesh compartment (we use for stashing a blankie or our jackets or anything we need to reach quickly).

Thanks all! It sounds like I may find myself wanting one, but it's not so necessary I couldn't go get one or order on Prime once we're using the stroller more.
juliayadda , I was looking at that one! The Sprouts stuff is too cute.
