What's new with baby (size, development)? Size of a carrot/endive/baseball cap
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Boy!!!!!!!
Any upcoming appointments this week? Not this week but we have a repeat US next Monday to get the final pictures of Bug's face and other areas that were hiding.
Any new symptoms or changes? None really, some heartburn but nothing terrible.
Rants/Raves/Questions? We had our second birth class this week and H is really getting into it. We are planning a med-free birth and he has been doing a ton of research and has jumped on the train.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? We found out the sex so now we can do all the things! We will tell family and friends this weekend and then can go official after that.
GTKY: what is one activity that you used to do, don't anymore, but wish you could pick up again?
Read more. I love reading so much but just don't seem to have time anymore for it
How far along are you? 20 weeks! Halfway there (well a little more than half way for me since I will be signing up for a RCS and going as early as they will let me.)
What's new with baby (size, development)? A paper airplane, or banana. Measuring from head to toe instead of crown to rump. Baby is also sprouting teeth buds underneath his/her gums, as well as lips, eyelashes, and eyebrows.
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Not finding out/ haven't found out yet. We still have 2 more weeks to decide if we are going to.
Any upcoming appointments this week? 20 week checkup is on Wednesday.
Any new symptoms or changes? Heartburn almost every day. My hips begin to hurt when I sleep on my sides for too long. Lower back hurts by the end of the day.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Not that I can think of. Still waiting for kicks to be hard enough that DH can feel them.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? Still nada. With my luck I'm going to end up having to hire our neighbor to fix the nursery at the last minute. DH is back to working 7 days a week putting in roughly 75-80 hours.
GTKY: what is one activity that you used to do, don't anymore, but wish you could pick up again? Running. I miss it so much. I swelled so bad with DS1 that it made running really hard (and putting on shoes). I never got back into it like I had hoped. Maybe after this one comes I can start my C25K program again. I'd love to be able to sign up for another half marathon and actually run the whole thing.

How far along are you? 20 weeks 2 days. Last time my ticket change day was Sunday, and I keep forgetting to post on Fridays now, so I'll try this.
What's new with baby (size, development)? An axolotl
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Girl!
Any upcoming appointments this week? My anatomy scan and OB appt got moved to tomorrow!
Any new symptoms or changes? I now have trouble getting back to sleep after I wake up to pee at night.
Rants/Raves/Questions? DH wants sex all the time, but I'm so damn tired by the evening these days. I need to find a way to make more time for him and stop turning him down all the time.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? We made plans for what we need to do to get the nursery ready. Now we just have to do it...
GTKY: what is one activity that you used to do, don't anymore, but wish you could pick up again? Hiking. Or really, just walking through the woods. We don't have any natural areas nearby now, and it's so very hot here in the summer. I wish DH was more into it and willing to drive an hour or so every now and then to hike. Maybe when the kids are older!
pinecone21 i hear you. i feel bad saying no, especially since it's not like i have no libido...it's just that the opportunities we get for sex aren't great timing. :/

How far along are you? 22 weeks!
What's new with baby? Baby is the size of an American guinea pig
We found out today that we're having another boy!!
Any upcoming appointments this week? Had our anatomy scan today, everything looked great, and the tech took her sweet time so we got to see the baby for a while
Any new symptoms or changes? The kicks are getting a whole lot stronger, and the baby likes to use my cervix as a trampoline so that's fun. Also, I'm pretty sure I've finally left regular morning sickness behind. Still get queesy on occasion, and food aversions, but it's easily manageable.
R/R/Q? The crazy dreams are back. Not a huge fan of them, my brain is weird.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? Well, now that we know gender, we are starting to think about names. And I'm trying to find and figure out where to put a dresser for the baby's clothes.
GTKY: I used to do a lot of hand lettering, but I've hardly done anything artsy since DS was born. It's hard to set aside time to focus on it. Also, I really miss backpacking.
]Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Not finding out
Any upcoming appointments this week? Nope, but fetal echo is a week from today.
Any new symptoms or changes? Just feeling huge already . And lots of movement.
Rants/Raves/Questions?
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? I have intensified trying to figure out childcare for the fall when I go back to work. I have a spreadsheet with five options . I decided that three drop offs and pick ups everyday is crazy, so I want to either move DS to a school that also has infant care for the baby, or hire a nanny and send DS to a little in home preschool in the neighborhood. I'll be visiting both in the next couple weeks. DD will be in kindergarten and aftercare at school.
GTKY: what is one activity that you used to do, don't anymore, but wish you could pick up again? I'll go with hiking too like a PP said. We have taken the kids on some little hikes, but we can't do them as much or as long as we used to.
What's new with baby (size, development)? Ovia says corn cob, but that doesn't seem to match the other size references or the measurements from my anatomy scan.
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Not finding out
Any upcoming appointments this week? None
Any new symptoms or changes? Serious trouble sleeping. Waking up a lot.
Rants/Raves/Questions? I want a good night's sleep!
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? Registry
GTKY: what is one activity that you used to do, don't anymore, but wish you could pick up again? I still read, but I wish I could read more.
What's new with baby (size, development)? 10" I believe
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? boy and a girl
Any upcoming appointments this week? Fetal echo on Monday, 2/6
Any new symptoms or changes? Starting to feel more movement. Still not regular movement, but I do feel them a few times / day.
Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm not sleeping as well as I used to, which is causing some anxiety.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? Minivan shopping
GTKY: what is one activity that you used to do, don't anymore, but wish you could pick up again? Exercise. I want to run, swim and walk at least 4 days per week, but I don't have the energy or desire to do so. I'm planning to work out 6 weeks post-partum, and will likely have a babysitter come in for 1.5 hours a few days a week so I can get my workout in.
cateyes - I love how your H is jumping into birth classes!
sabrinaml - My calves are still killing me from an easy run on Sunday. More than usual. I hope this isn't the new normal.
pinecone21 - I'd be up for more sex, but H doesn't get home until fairly late and by then I'm bloated and tired. We're pretty much stuck with weekend sex. Thankfully H doesn't push it. Tell your H making a baby is tiring!

How far along are you? 21 weeks
What's new with baby (size, development)? Dragon egg from GoT
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Girl!
Any upcoming appointments this week? No appointments for another couple weeks.
Any new symptoms or changes? Feeling much better than last week, and feeling more movement. I'm trying to catch her wiggling when MH is around so he can feel.
Rants/Raves/Questions? +1 for sleeping poorly.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? My mom and I went shopping for baby clothes before we went to see a movie together. We tried to spread the clothes out over a few sizes, but most of them were $3.60! I love clearance.
GTKY: what is one activity that you used to do, don't anymore, but wish you could pick up again? Irish group dance. I stopped when I was pregnant with DS because it took so much energy, and never got back into it because I don't like messing with DS's bedtime when it is not necessary. I know I could go by myself, but I like bringing DS and DH.
What's new with baby (size, development)? Baby Bok choy
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Boy
Any upcoming appointments this week? Nothing for a few weeks.
Any new symptoms or changes? Baby movement is getting more obvious.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Boy names are so much harder than girl names for us! We have the same taste in girls names and agreed on one early on, but it's moot now. We didn't come up with DS's name until the day he was born, and it looks like this one will be similar. There aren't a lot of boy names that I like, and DH doesn't like my favourites, so I'm pretty sure this will be an ongoing discussion until baby arrives again.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? Trying to figure out how to convince DH I need to spend around $800 on a new stroller! No inspiration yet, so far he doesn't even understand why I want a double stroller.
GTKY: what is one activity that you used to do, don't anymore, but wish you could pick up again? I don't have an answer for this one, I've never been one to do a lot of "activities" and if I like something I haven't dropped it.
What's new with baby (size, development)? Size of a paper airplane/Belgian endive.
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Not finding out
Any upcoming appointments this week? Anatomy scan and 20-week appointment on Friday. H gets to come! The resident making the schedule just had a baby in September so was very happy to make it happen if possible.
Any new symptoms or changes? I felt true movement last night! It's so weird and amazing at the same time.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Just another rave for movement!
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? We chose our doula! Also picked out our car seat over the weekend. We were going to official start a registry at BBB, but it was PACKED. H really likes to tag things with the scanning gun, so I told him we'll have to go as soon as it opens this Saturday or Sunday to beat the crowd.
GTKY: what is one activity that you used to do, don't anymore, but wish you could pick up again? Flying. I have a private pilot's license but am not current in hours. I haven't flown since we moved to Chicago because 1) expensive, 2) have to drive out to BFE, and so 3) no time for that. Once we inevitably setting in the 'burbs somewhere, I plan to pick it back up. At one point I really wanted a jet engine license, so I might still go for that.
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Pink
Any upcoming appointments this week? No appointments until Feb 15
Any new symptoms or changes? Nothing new- just starting to really feel "huge" and tired. Heartburn is awful as always.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Just feeling like crap lately. Everything hurts and I'm tired all the time.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? I bought a couple cute dresses/rompers for the baby with my mom this week. It's starting to feel real which is exciting and terrifying.
GTKY: what is one activity that you used to do, don't anymore, but wish you could pick up again? Skydiving. I used to go once a month but due to money and time I just can't anymore.
violetrose - I went skydiving once and LOVED it. If it didn't scare the ever-loving crap out of my H, I would probably have pursued doing it again. But I'm saving my pushes for hang-gliding and other activities he's labelled as "crazy".
How far along are you? 20 weeks, I'm moving backwards because my dr moved my due date from the 10th to the 21st at my anatomy scan
What's new with baby? Baby is the size of a banana.
Boy/girl/finding out? Another girl!
Any upcoming appointments this week? Not until the end of feb
Any new symptoms or changes? I just feel like i am getting so much bigger so much faster this time around! I know that's common after you already have had a baby.
Rants/raves/questions? Nope
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? We've started discussing names. Of course we had a boys name that we agreed on, but no idea for a girl!
GTKY: I loved to snow ski. Haven't been in a few years though!
mreve have we already discussed buying secondhand strollers? that's how i bought my first city select, and it was SUCH a great deal. i actually just saw another one pop up on one of my local FB trading/resale sites today - frame, 2 seats, 2 snack trays, glider board, parent console, and a few other accessories for $450. you can always wash the fabric, and i LOVED not having to worry so much about damaging mine since it was in great shape but not brand new. my current stroller whine is that the car seat adapter for my city select (the 2015 model) is $70+. grumbling hard about that one.
What's new with baby (size, development)? 11 oz according to anatomy scan, small banana per baby center.
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? girl
Any upcoming appointments this week? anatomy scan was monday, so nothing else until march.
Any new symptoms or changes? sciatica, and DH felt her kick for the first time sunday night! i'm also quite emotional.
Rants/Raves/Questions? nothing!
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? organizing like crazy, and we're getting our upstairs hardwoods replaced in about a week.
GTKY: what is one activity that you used to do, don't anymore, but wish you could pick up again? i'll go with weight lifting, even though i know i could make time if i tried harder. i used to love it so much.
agm04 we did talk about it back in fall! I've pretty much decided I want a city select, and I'm only looking at used ones right now. In Canada the new ones with a second seat are well over $1000 and any accessories are at least $40 if not more. There's no way I can justify that, but the only good quality used ones I've found are at least $700, again if not more.
This is actually the worst thing about being part of a board like this as a Canadian - I get to see how many more options Americans have for baby things and how much less you pay for them! Whenever I get jealous while trying to shop online, I go read through the insurance and maternity leave threads for perspective 😉.
agm04 - Good luck with the flooring replacement! Ours has been in progress all week and my H is way over our stuff being all over the place and not finding what he wants. But he's also been working long hours and is just cranky in general. I knew it would be a week of annoyance but the end result will be great.
marshian so you guys are just staying put while they do the work? i'm so scared, haha. we had the downstairs floors redone before we moved in, and it was a MESS. right now they're saying 11 days for the upstairs, and i'm trying to convince DH to let them do the bulk of the work while we're at disneyland later this month. he's paranoid and doesn't like people in our house, which i get, but i can live with it if it means convenience! since DD and our au pair spend the days at home, we'd have to move in with in laws if we don't do it while we're away.
agm04 - Because we're doing a manufactured wood which is pre-finished, they are able to shift our stuff around the condo as they go room to room. If it had been true hardwood and needed sealer, etc, we would have had to move out completely and we would not have done the work. We will most likely be selling the condo in a year and a half when we move, so since insurance covered the replacement (except our small deductible) due to our fridge leaking, we felt it was worth the week of inconvenience to add value.
We did board our dog at the sitter for the week, though (which insurance is also covering).
If you have the option to not be there, do it. We both go to work while the guys are there because it's loud and dusty and we would be in their way.
DH and I refinished our hardwood floors at the old house. It was awful! Hardwood in 3 bedrooms, the hallway, living room and dining room (so everything but kitchen and bathroom.) We had to sand, stain and put the polyurethane coat on top. (No kids yet, but we were married at the time either.). His mom came and helped occasionally with the sanding. We had to do it room by room. I think it took like 2 months from start to finish. (Or that's what it felt like at least. We would work on it in the evenings and on weekends since we both worked during the day.) We need to put a sealer on the floors at our new house, and I am not looking forward to that project.
marshian smart to do it though, especially before baby is here! DH seems to think they can't move stuff room to room because they have to redo our subfloor. The reason we're getting new floors is bc ours are so.squeaky. We didn't do it when we bought the house because they actually look nice, and we thought we (and the baby) would get used to it. Well 2.5 years later and we still wake DD every time we walk up/down the stairs, so we're over it. They've tried nailing it down in squeaky spots, but nope. Gotta start over. We're also doing manufactured wood though, to match what's downstairs.
sabrinaml that sounds rough! i used to be motivated to DIY things, but now i just can't. i'd rather not do something than try to do it myself haha. i'm seriously impressed.
You guys are making me rethink whether I want to get rid of our slate and get hardwood - sounds like a pain. I'm sure it will be worth it in the end though!
sabrinaml - That's impressive you guys did all that yourselves! It does sound like a pain, though!
agm04 - They removed our old floor down to the concrete. They've been able to replace subfloor, underlayment, and the wood itself room-to-room. I would ask your contractor if they can do it that way for you guys. Our insurance covered them having their guys move our stuff around, so see if that's included. We did pack up more delicate things and electronics in boxes and shoved those in the bathroom so they wouldn't move them around.
