Thank you to whoever suggested the drama that is the Blended Family thread over on Parenting. I've been reading it all morning #worthit
It went from entertainment to way too much for me. I got too invested in the lives of those poor kids.
I don't think most of it is real. Suddenly grandma is a (former) meth user? She's sleeping with the kid every night for a year (and while pregnant) to keep him from self-harming? I think there's a lot of exaggeration in there, at least.

I honestly hope so. I'm glad the thread is dying because I needed to just step away. I will 100% admit my privilege in the sense that I didn't grow up being exposed to drug abuse or violence but I was starting to have way too many feels about what those children are being exposed to.

If I create a registry at BBB or BRU online, we can still go to the store and scan things in person, right?
Yes, just ask for a scanner. Also, tell them you registered online and want a registry bag. Be shameless and ask
+1 to being shameless. I asked for a second bag cuz twins. I feel like pregnancy is one of the few times in your life you can be a little demanding and no one really cares.
hpnegirl - I'm pretty shameless. I already had to shut down this one employee on two separate occasions as she attempted to school us on what type of stroller was "best" (which wasn't going to work for our situation) and then on car seat safety. I've read all the safety stuff from reputable websites (e.g. Car Seats for the Littles). I'm not going to lap up what random employee who likely isn't certified as a car seat tech says. She was mad when I shut her down hard on the bucket seat. We do not want or need one for legit reasons. Not everyone has to do the same thing. Ugh.
TL;DR: No shame here in shutting people up. Don't have time for that, haha.

Whoa! Spoiler alert! I havent gotten that far!!!
Sorry, sorry - I forgot so much of the story unfolds long after the initial post!

marshian ugh I hate moving! Moving twice in one year is the pits. I purge stuff every time I move. What's your husband's specialty?
And no, you don't need a bucket seat if you don't want one. I like having one but I see your point from the other thread where it came up. Though double check the minimum weight on your convertible. I think a lot of them are 8 lbs and we wouldn't have been able to use it yet since N is so little...
moutonrouge I read that drama fest last night while up feeding the baby. Sad stuff no matter how you feel about OP

Two week check up went well. She's at exactly 7lb and went from -8% birth weight to +1% in eight days. So the intense pumping and supplement regimen worked. Looking forward to possibly having a chunky baby in a few months.
silvermelody - We've settled on the Chicco NextFit, which is a 5-pound minimum and looks like it fits actual little babes very well (from photos on car seat sites). Good point about the weight because that's a huge factor.
My H is a urologist. It's a surgical specialty, so he's always super busy. Looking at doing fellowship in reconstructive surgery (specific to the urology-covered areas).
I walked two blocks to grab a sandwich (because the craving for deli meat on a baguette was hitting me hard). Walked my usual speed (which is faster than most people) and got a fair amount of crotch discomfort. Lovely.
I'm part of a small committee providing recommendations to improve our maternity/paternity leave policy at my company. We gave our recommendations and reasoning to leadership months ago and it was supposed to be moved up the chain appropriately. One of our company leaders just set up a call for next week to discuss updates. I'm excited but nervous. I really hope they're going to make official changes and that it comes before I tell my boss I'm pregnant!
I'm tired and cranky, just like this whole week. I don't know what it is, and it's pissing me off that I can't enjoy Nashville. People are continuing to buy off my registry, though, and that's fun to watch.
Everyone in the blended family thread bugged me. The OP, the posters running on and on about fraud, people asking questions to things she'd answered pages ago. Grumble.
