When did you start branching out from purees? I've given LO avocado and bread and he seemed to like it better than the other foods (purees and cereal) that he's gotten so far. Also when did you start eggs and yogurt? Are there rules about this somewhere? I even took a nutrition class but I only remember no rice. I wasn't expecting him to be so anti-solids.
E has spit out purees like it's his job (until literally like two days ago) and enjoys finger foods way more. Full disclosure, I did start with BLW at 6 months and he didn't like ANYTHING then. Now he likes the finger foods more. I would try them. Sliced avocado, sweet potato sticks, steamed pear chunks.
I've also already given him plain greek yogurt, though he hasn't had much because of the aforementioned spiiting. He's 8 months next week. I started DD with egg yolk omelets around 9m I think. My go-to resource is wholesomebabyfoods.momtastic.com, which has charts of good food by age (and recipes!). So useful.
I'm using up the last of my homemade purees, and not making more. He seems to be refusing them and enjoys minced up food better. He still loves cereal. I gave him some bread the other day and he really liked it. Eggs on the other hand, was a fail. He gagged too much and puked.
I think we can start to intro dairy around 9m.
My LO has a really strong gag reflex and does it often when trying solids, even the smooth purees. I don't know if I should be concerned(?)
I had the same concern. I thought maybe he didn't know how to swallow. I polled my mom friends and decided not to worry for a couple more months. And it's been gradually changing and improving. I would choose not to worry yet. Too many things to worry about
txmommy14, her pedi was concerned that she was retaining fluid in her ear in between ear infections, but the ENT said that she doesn't have any fluid in there so she likely doesn't need them. If circumstancfes change she'll be reevaluated for tubes.

We introduced purées around 5 months and she has pretty much hated them since. She will be 8 months this week and in the last month I've gotten much more adventurous. For breakfast she normally has Cheerios, lunch some fruit (fresh or dried) with either some puffs or a teething cookie, dinner she really likes sweet potato fries.
ETA she has had scrambled eggs. I like to try new foods earlier in the day in case there is a reaction, then I have all day to watch for one.
Whelp that was a good run. Pinkeye has hit the daycare and ds now has goopy eyes. I've dropped breastmilk in (it worked for ds1 but the research is iffy) and he has a dr appt in the morning.
We can't catch a break this week. Ds1 was sick Saturday and is already on antibiotics for an ear infection , I was dying stomach sick all last night and now ds2. Oh my.

We tried to start from the beginning with bits of avocado, but she was not interested. I would say around 7.5 months she started eating both purees and soft foods. At our 6 month checkup our pedi said we can start introducing dairy, but I held off until recently. She LOVES yogurt.
GOmamab15 S is 7.5 month and we have tried eggs and yogurt already. He likes the yogurt but it didn't sit well with him. Eggs he ate a piece or 2 but isn't a big fan of finger foods yet. Our pedi recommended introducing high allergy foods (peanut butter, eggs, etc) sooner rather than later as the current research says delaying introducing peanuts is not the way to go. I introduced it early with DS1 even though at that time the recommendation was to wait until 2.
Hey everyone! I am never on here any more and when I am I am usually just a dirty lurker. I need to make it a point to check in here more often. I miss you ladies who are not on FB!
We've been working on the top front teeth for at least 2 weeks. I can see them through the gum, the gums are ballooning out where they are and look so painful. But they haven't cut through yet. How much longer are they going to torture us? Is it coming soon or do we have weeks more of this?
In the last month we've started getting more adventurous with food. LO loves shredded meat, cut up raspberries/blueberries, strawberries (I give halves/quartered), scrambled eggs, noodles, squash, cottage cheese. She'll feed herself pouches if I'm too lazy to make a healthy dinner or dinner she can eat. I'm really excited because she was slower to get into table foods than DD1 so I'm glad she's taking an interest in them!
So ds2 is now also on antibiotics for pinkeye and an ear infection. Big bro was kind enough to share it with him. Thankfully big bro is already on antibiotics so he shouldn't get pinkeye. But now big bro has like 10 red bumps on his feet that look like mosquito bites. I'm wondering if one was in his room last night while he was sleeping and attacked. It's the only time he's sockless and the bumps are itchy and only on his feet.

My daycare uses an app to log diapers, feeds, naps, etc. (and to post pics!) that I can check whenever I want. Today, it shows that E ate pears this morning and is now napping! He fell asleep without his typical morning bottle! This seems like such a big kid thing--I am proud but tear 😢

manybellsdown, DS started going to bed in the evenings after eating solids but no bottle in the past few weeks. I felt the same way - he's sudden;y such a big boy! Dinner and bed. Surely he's not a baby anymore if he doesn't need to nurse or have a bottle at bedtime
This week is totally dragging for me... I can't believe it is only Thursday . And I'm a bit jealous of the people that have a snow day today! I usually am not a snow fan, but we have gotten so little I miss it!
