Frigid here as well. But we went to the mall and returned some clothing and purchased some other. Might of spent double what I returned...which means I will be in the house for the next week. Lol...no spending. I started eating healthy so came home to a smoothie and some veggies and some protein. I am trying to get myself full and stay full...I love to snack!!
Weekend is just house work and hanging out with our family of four. Might take DD to the hands on museum and then early lunch on Sunday.
littlelion I'm going to try the ergo today. I've tried the moby around the house and she doesn't love it, but maybe the more structured ergo will be better.
catherineoctober, that is seriously unacceptable! I'd be livid. I worked in an infant room long long ago, and there were so many checks in place to make sure something like that wouldn't happen. If the person in the room doesn't know which one Jane is, then how is Jane getting the correct food? The right diapers? The correct papers filled out? How do they know they aren't handing your baby to someone else?? Sure they check IDs and all, but that doesn't help when they aren't sure which baby is which.
Cora is generally a fan of being worn. She likes the fake Ergo carrier more than the wrap, but I wonder if she'll like the wrap a little more when she's big enough for her legs to be out. She absolutely loathes the mei tai. DH likes the fake Ergo too. He puts her in it when he's working at the computer. He used to put her in the sling, but always felt like her head went in weird positions and she was going to smother.
This is generally how Cora and I spend the evenings:
Our babe loves the Ergo, but she pretty much only sleeps in it. I'm sure she'll stay awake more when she's forward-facing but they don't recommend that until she's older.

All this baby wearing makes me want to do it again. I have a bjorn and an off brand something with a ton of clips everywhere and a wrap. Jane's like all of them at different times. I'm totally going to wear her again tonight. Last night she slept in the rock and play from 7:30-9 pm and I TOOK A BATH and read an essay from my Feminist book thing. It was AWESOME!
lola, most carriers shouldn't be used facing out anyway. It puts their hips in a bad position. There are some that can work and put their hips and spine in the correct position, but not many.
I ran across this on Timehop this morning. This was DS and DD at the exact same age (4 months).
Such a difference! How did they compare at birth? I keep getting the babies confused.
He was 3lbs 1oz at birth, she was 7lbs 2oz at birth. Cora was 5lbs 2oz at birth -- smack in between them. I can't wait to add her to the comparison photo in 2 months!

Also, if anyone is into gift card deals.....at Target right now if you spend $100 on baby stuff (formula, diapers, etc) you get a $25 gift card. I just bought 4 containers of formula.
Hello! It's cold here too and I don't want to do anything but huddle under a blanket on the couch.
@kc295905 , hope everything goes great with the realtor! Doesn't it always feel like you have to sacrifice something when looking for a house - price or size or walkability or schools... I have yet to be able to afford it all.
Winnifred , glad to hear that your first week home alone is going well! My DH works from home four days a week and those Thursdays when he's in the office are still really hard for me. Hopefully someday I will be able to handle this baby on my own!
Yikes mrsp121308 , I hope your DD2 is feeling better soon. Poor girl.
Aww, catherineoctober , FX that the daycare lady just hasn't had time to get to know Jane yet since she isn't the primary caregiver. Still though... trust your instincts if you don't get good vibes after this first month. When we were touring daycares we visited one where a little girl (probably... 14 - 16 months) tried to use the tourguide lady's leg as a brace to stand up, and the woman shook her off and said, "No! I don't want you!" Needless to say, my DD will not be going to that particular facility.
Boo, Mr. @cahistoryteacher! Don't men understand how much easier a bottle feeding is than what we go through with nursing? Be glad it's quick and painless!
Lucy , it's amazing how different babies in the same family can be! It's really fun that you have the photos to compare.
AFM, a couple of DH's friends are coming over tomorrow to play old school Nintendo games on an emulator (DH and his friends are nerds, if that's not already obvious) so I will probably spend a lot of time upstairs with baby since I'm still pumping all the time to try to re-build my milk supply. Fun times. Someday I will get to leave my house again. They're also getting pizza, which I can't eat since I'm still on a dairy-free diet for DD. Jerks.
On Tuesday we have the lactation consultant coming back to help me decide if we should have DD's frenulum clipped to help with her nursing. I think yes, but I'd rather have a professional agree with me before I actually commit. I cannot wait for Tuesday though!

This and if they're overstimulated they can't turn away. I thought that was one of the main reasons Ergo wasn't forward facing. Now they have the one you can do forward facing and I was scratching my head. I prefer baby facing me. He can lay down and sleep comfortably when he wants and can still look out and around if/when he wants.

Lucymrswillie Yes! We have the Ergo 360 so they technically can face forward but the instructions are very explicit about how long they should face forward at a time (not long at all). I don't see the use in it. I put her in the carrier specifically to avoid overstimulation!

achromia, DS had his clipped and it was so, so, minor. So, if she does need it, don't worry about the actual clipping part. I watched, there wasn't even crying.

That's so good to hear! It's hard to think of willingly doing something that would hurt them - they're so little! I'm happy that it sounds like it's NBD.

When they didn't his they clipped him and then gave him a little shot of sugar. He was really excited about the sugar. Haha.

Anyone have advice for giving your baby Tylenol after shots? She doesn't have a fever but she's miserable. Called my Dr and just waiting for the on call Dr to call back

Poor babe. Yeah, the doctor will be able to tell you how much based on weight every 4 hours. Hope she feels better. He goes Tuesday afternoon. Now I'm wishing they had a morning appointment especially since I'll be bringing the bigger ones to swim class after that.
