Cake #1 in the oven. I really should have bought two rounds pans so I could bake the whole thing at once, but whatever. Then it's cupcake time! I'm praying my icing doesn't come out as a Pinterest fail. I prepped as much as I could last night. Now to avoid eating it all before Sunday!

My mom has been planning to come out for X's birthday. My dad just informed me that he booked a flight out as well. I'm glad he'll have some people out to celebrate with him! Now I don't feel as bad for buying a fun smash cake. I just REALLY hope he's not bringing his gf. I don't want her involved in my 1st birthday memories. >
rivers and roads tell me about this learning tower. Also, regardless of if anyone came to celebrate X's party he totally deserves a fun smash cake. I hope everyone behaves
Morning! I made a rookie mistake. I got S dressed in a really cute outfit before I fed her breakfast. Normally she's a pretty clean eater but not today! So she's already on her 2nd outfit of the day. We are meeting some friends at the zoo indoor exhibit in about an hour. I'm going to wear S this time instead of using the stroller since it was kind of in the way last time.

I am prepping for the party tomorrow. DH tends to pick-up by stuffing things in whatever drawer or shelf is convenient or throwing away things that are not trash. I ordered a banner for the birthday girl and I cannot find the pieces to hang it on the wall. I am hoping I am going to find them in the drawer with the spatulas or under the bathroom sink or something. Otherwise, I'm not sure how to get this banner on the wall.
trtlcrzy - you rock for all the birthday shoutouts ... I just wanted to say.
Thanks. I feel like all the babies and mommies are special and deserve their own thread. We've all accomplished so much over the last year and it's time to celebrate!

Something like this:
If you search "Ikea hack learning tower" you'll find the directions for it. They sell collapsible ones, but a $200+ tower isn't in my budget these days. He's still a bit young for it, but I think he'll love it when he's older. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

Oh yes, a bunch of girls on my other bmb got those when our kiddos were younger. Check craigslist, you may be able to find one on there for cheap.
Morning! I took the kids to daycare today. I'm on my 3rd weekend in a row of solo parenting so I'm taking a day to myself. With DD's birthday party next weekend I need to get caught up with housework. I went straight to the grocery store this morning after dropping the kids off. Now I'm moving onto cleaning. DS has hockey this evening and it's bath night, so we'll definitely be keeping busy until bed time.
I haven't ordered from Carter's for so long but I need a pack of plain long sleeve onesies. I have a few short sleeve dresses that look wintery-ish and DD should fit them now, and with her walking, I think I can start using them. But I need a long sleeve to go underneath. I'll have to go do some checking to see if they have free shipping out there, I don't want to place a bulk order to hit a shipping minimum and don't feel like paying $30 to get a few onesies.

They've been having free shipping shipping a lot lately. I ordered something a couple weeks ago and my mom placed an order the other day.

Also I know jcpenny sells carters in store, I believe macys, Belk also do too. So maybe check out your local dept store if that's all you need.

I hope you find the fasteners, otherwise I'd suggest looking at the 3M products - command hooks or the 3m strips are holding most of my wall decor up

My sister wanted one of those but couldn't afford it, so my dad just looked at it and built his own. Then one for the neighbor, then another for my best friend, when I got pregnant he built one for me right away. It's in my basement.

Good afternoon. I'm trying to get everything all sorted out for the party tomorrow. But I currently have no voice. I'm trying to kick this cold to the curb before tomorrow. So I took some dayquil tablets. I have a feeling it'll cut my breastmilk supply down even more, but I was going to stop pumping after the weekend anyway, so maybe I'll stop now.
So far today I made 36 cupcakes, a smash cake for C, and I used the rest of the batter to make 1 round cake lol. I was having some icing troubles earlier. I bought a kit that makes a 3 colour swirl. Except on one of the piping bags, I cut it too wide, so the tip fell out before I could frost any of the cupcakes. So I had to use a ziploc bag, as I was all out of the piping bags. It sort of worked. I feel like making the cupcakes and such myself is halfway between a pinterest fail and success. It doesn't look perfect like the image I have in my head, but, I've seen a lot worse.

DH agreed he probably cleaned them up straight into the trashcan, so I picked up some strips at the store when I ran out to get cheese and veggies for tomorrow.
Thanks for the tips guys. I'm actually wanting this particular set. We've already had it and she outgrew them, and I miss them. They are cuter than the normal white onesies and the light gray one will match nice with some of the dresses I think. No free shipping on Carter's right now but I think I saw JCP was having a big baby sale so I might check their website to see if they have them! Small town problems. I'm not sure I'll get anywhere this month.
chocolate carters and Oshkosh have some really cute stuff coming for the spring. If you wait a couple days I'm sure they will have free shipping again.

We have those ones, I am sure I got them at kohls!
