What's new with baby (size, development)? Size of a least weasel/baseball hat. Baby is developing body fat and now often hiccups as a means to practice breathing. Also swallows amniotic fluid in order to practice eating.
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Not finding out/haven't found out yet. Haven't asked DH his thoughts on finding out yet. (Still have a week to wait.)
Any upcoming appointments this week? Nope
Any new symptoms or changes? Nothing new so far
Rants/Raves/Questions? I think I have a soccer player! (Or a boxer) DH hasn't been able to feel it yet.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? DH has been so busy with work lately. Nothing.
GTKY: What is your favorite movie snack? Salted and extra butter popcorn (movie theater popcorn is the best!)

How far along are you? 22 weeks
What's new with baby (size, development)? Size of a guinea pig (I love guinea pigs!) Inner ear is developing, eyebrows and eyelashes
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Boy
Any upcoming appointments this week? Not until the end of the month
Any new symptoms or changes? Sometimes harder to catch my breath, but I also have a cold so it's not working well together. My rings seems to be getting a little more snug, but still can wear them.
Rants/Raves/Questions?
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? Not too much right now. Waiting to buy stuff until we know what hanf me downs we will be getting. Grad school is taking all my attention at the moment anyway
GTKY: What is your favorite movie snack? Nachos! Not a huge popcorn fan. It's good if it has enough salt and butter, but makes my stomach hurt if I eat too much.
What's new with baby (size, development)? Spaghetti squash
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Not finding out
Any upcoming appointments this week? We had our fetal echo today and baby's heart looked normal! Of course DS's heart also got a normal report at his fetal echo and he still needed open heart surgery as a baby, but that was a super unusual situation. We waited a couple additional weeks to have the echo done this time (22 weeks vs. 20) in the hopes that it would be more accurate. I feel good about this baby not having any major heart defects.
Any new symptoms or changes? Not really. Baby is super active, especially at night.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Still mulling over childcare options - so complicated for three kids and two full time jobs with travel....my latest idea is all three kids in group childcare in different places, with us hiring babysitters for every morning and evening to help with the transitions and drop-offs/pick-ups that are walking distance. I think that would still be cheaper than a nanny for just the baby, and we'd get more help with getting out the door/dinner prep.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? I need to check on why our painter hasn't sent me a quote yet for our small room that I plan to initially use as a nursery and then as a home office. I was excited to figure out how to fit three carseats in a row in DH's small backseat over the weekend.
GTKY: What is your favorite movie snack? Junior mints!! I was really surprised no one said anything sweet until lulu783 did.
sdlaura - Congrats on having such a great Fetal Echo!!
How far along are you? 22 weeks + 3 days
What's new with baby (size, development)? The babies weigh 1 lb 3oz each and can hear my voice and heartbeat
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Boy and a girl
Any upcoming appointments this week? We had our Fetal Echo yesterday. They got most of the images, but the babies were in awful positions, so I have to go back in 2 weeks to complete the echo. From what they saw, everything appeared normal, so that's a relief.
Any new symptoms or changes? Sleep. I'm just not sleeping as well.
Rants/Raves/Questions?
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? We're buying a minivan the weekend after this one and will set up car seats and such. I've solicited help for setting up the nursery (my dad and husband) in a few weeks.
GTKY: What is your favorite movie snack? Lately popcorn, but sometimes I like the soft pretzels with mustard.
agm04, we actually considered moving to a different house so that we could consider that option, but we just don't have the space in our current house to have any kind of separate area for an au pair. Plus DH is a major homebody and a bit socially awkward . So I don't think having someone living in our house would make sense for us.
What kind of set up do you have for your au pair? Have you been happy with having one?
sdlaura yes that makes sense. we totally lucked out - our house has a garage apartment, which we were not looking for, but figured might be nice to have. our plan was daycare, but i couldn't do it (not that i think there is anything wrong with that option at all). so it really came in handy! it's a large studio with a kitchen, bathroom, and huge closet, so she really has her own space and that's good for all of us.
overall, it is the best solution for our family right now. it's not perfect - it's really hard sometimes having to deal with another person, help her when she has problems (sickness, insurance, etc.). on the other hand, it's more affordable than a nanny, DD's schedule isn't interrupted, i know she loves my daughter and vice versa, and we can set the rules as we see fit (like she has to be home 8 hours before she works). our current au pair is going back to germany in march, and we have a new one coming from argentina. i am really nervous, but at this point i can't really imagine anything else.
I'm so glad you've had such a good experience, agm04. I hope the new au pair is great, too!
Both my older kids went to an in-home daycare as babies and it worked really well for us - in terms of being a homey environment and sort of part of a big family. I think my kids probably didn't get sick as often as they would have in a larger setting and I think they developed bonds with the few other kids. Of course there are downsides to every option. I'm hoping to find another licensed in-home this time (since a few things led us to part ways with the one my older kids attended), but it's hard to do since they usually only take a couple infants at a time.

How far along are you? 22 weeks
What's new with baby (size, development)? Baby is the size of a standard hatchet head.
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Girl!
Any upcoming appointments this week? Next Wednesday is my next regular OB appt
Any new symptoms or changes? Good: Feeling baby bounce around more, more pressure on my bladder which suddenly feels better when she moves! Bad: I had the GI virus again and lost 3-4 lbs, which puts me back at -9 lbs from starting weight. Feeling better today, hoping no one else catches it and it goes away this time.
Rants/Raves/Questions?
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? Started a registry at BRUs, bought the cutest little owl stuffed animal that winds up to play "You Are My Sunshine." DS didn't like it at the store, but once we got home he kept asking for "sun" and wanting to play with it. It is now hidden in another room and I think he has forgotten about it...
GTKY: What is your favorite movie snack? Definitely delicious buttery salty popcorn. Real butter is a plus.
What's new with baby (size, development)? Size of a baseball cap or banana. Measured at A/S last Friday at 11 ounces.
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Not finding out
Any upcoming appointments this week? Not until 3/3
Any new symptoms or changes? Feeling movement sporadically but stronger when I do feel it. Still getting some slightly painful feelings down low, but turns out baby's head is sitting right on my cervix, so that's probably the reason.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Love feeling baby in there!
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? Putting down daycare deposit this week. Firming up our registries, though we'll probably still edit them until shower invites go out.
GTKY: What is your favorite movie snack? Popcorn, though I'll admit it's really not the best at the theater. Making it at home is much tastier.

Any new symptoms or changes? feeling really good!
Rants/Raves/Questions? My bump seems small still so I will double check with the OB that she is growing appropriately at my next appt
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? Finalized day care for November when I go back to work, picked a nursery color (BM Graytint) and the painter is coming Monday to get started on painting the nursery, my mom is coming to visit this weekend so we can get some baby shower stuff figured out
GTKY: What is your favorite movie snack? Popcorn but I also love Snowcaps

How far along are you? 24 + 1
What's new with baby (size, development)? Baby is the size of a cantaloupe (but in real life baby is measuring right on track and is gaining weight). Today marks my first viability milestone, I am acutely aware of the impact every week makes from here on out
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Nope, no idea
Any upcoming appointments this week? Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, I went from very few appointments to lots of them!
Any new symptoms or changes? I had really strong cramping last week, turned out it was dehydration, several IV's later and I'm feeling great. I've been tracking 8 glasses of water a day, I suppose that is not enough
Rants/Raves/Questions? People in my life have been great, I've had visits, phone calls and texts. I'm really starting to let things go and honestly I've never loved DH more.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? Staying in bed, doing nothing (yay bed rest) but this baby is so worth it
GTKY: What is your favorite movie snack?[/quote] I don't really like movie foods/ snacks. I'm the boring person who doesn't buy snacks (although last time I totally snuck in east side marios)
Me: 29 DH: 35 NTNP since May 2013 charting since June 2014 dx: Graves disease (radioactive iodine), Crohns disease (abdominal surgeries) MMC October 2015 (9 weeks) Severe MFI diagnosis July 2015
What's new with baby (size, development)? The size of a bag of bagels!
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Boy!
Any upcoming appointments this week? Not till the end of the month
Any new symptoms or changes? I was just thinking how strange it was that with DD I had sex dreams all the time. With this boy I'm having a ton of scary wake me up in the middle of the night with my heart pounding dreams. Yet I can never remember exactly what they're about.
Rants/Raves/Questions? My tail bone is so sore. And my sciatic kills me when I over do it cleaning house or something like that. Ugh.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby? Slowly working on the nursery. Trying to decide on a paint color.
GTKY: What is your favorite movie snack? Buttery popcorn and skittles.

ihatepizza, I had been tracking 64 oz of water a day and still felt thirsty so I upped my goal to 80 ounces. I am now feeling thirsty again so am upping to 100 oz. I have read we need like 12-13 8 oz glasses a day while pregnant.

I seriously feel like I have to drink several gallons a day! I get bad headaches when dehydrated so I try to watch my pee and get it to be pretty clear . It feels ridiculous how much water I have to drink everyday.
Team drink all the water here! I've been thirstier the last week or so and I just keep refilling my glass. Don't forget tea and juice count toward your water goals!

Awesome, I'm going to try that, I do not want to dehydrate myself again

Yah I've been trying to vary up what I drink, I mostly drink water but I think I'm getting bored with it. Time to be creative
