No catch. I did it with DS1 and already signed up this time. You get two $5 off one item coupons a month, a box of samples (two small cans, and two four pack of packets) of formula prior to your EDD. Weekly emails until your EDD then monthly
Also, if you sign up for both types and end up using one, you can usually find people to swap the other brand coupons with. If you don't use the coupons due to BF or using gerber or specialty formula, you can, if so inclined, mail them to a formula feeding mama who uses that particular brand.
However, do sign up for both because baby may not tolerate enfamil if you go formula (DS1 did not handle similac well)
Nestle does one in Canada - they send you a diaper bag with formula samples and I think there were a couple diapers and a bottle in there too. Not sure if it's available in the U.S.

Enfamil sent me an unrequested box of samples (2 cans of different powdered formula, and a 4 pack of ready-mixed formula bottles) and coupons. I suspect it was one of my registries selling my name that got me on Enfamil's list, but I'm okay with that.
If you have Prime and are willing to spend $10 on Amazon on baby things, I thought the Welcome Box they offer for buying $10 off your registry (which can be private) was worth it. Mine had a toy, a nice muslin swaddle, a full pack of wipes, and then some random samples of baby lotion and things like that. It isn't worth the $35 they charge non-Prime members.

Apparently Similac also gets in on buying names/addresses from registries. Similar to Enfamil, they sent two cans of different powdered formula and four bottles of pre-mixed formula. Plus some coupons/formula checks.

I got a package from Enfamil today actually. I signed up for their coupons or whatever. Last month I got monthly milestone pictures. This is what came today. A full size can of formula, 6 ready to use bottles +2 slow flow nipples, 4 pre measured packets, 2 formula checks and a ton of coupons. Pretty awesome for a sample box.

@xamountofwords , and everyone, if your employer offers EAP (Employee Assistance Program??) they send a free prenatal care kit, as well as a post deliver. Aetna told me about this yesterday, and it took 20 seconds to sign up for. You can also sign up here for NJ people babyboxuniversity.com.
even if you're planning on exclusively breastfeeding, it'll be good to have at least a few bottles of supplementation just in case. AND you can always get them and donate them.
No pun intended, but unless they've changed the formula recently, the supplementing labeled one is the same as the regular formula. That was the case for similac and enfamil when I had DS1. Also, enfamil newborn and enfamil infant had the same as well.
Costco brand formula was identical to similac
You start seeing differences in formula when you get to the speciality formulas within the brands- gentlease/soothe, reflux, etc.
I know I saw some one explaining how to get a box of samples from Target if you have a registry there. But which thread was it on? Put it here please, I can't find it
You can just go to the customer service desk in the store and ask for the registry gift bag. They didn't ask for my name or anything. It was a pretty good gift bag, at least compared to other stores.
Not so much a freebie but in case anyone is looking, City Mini 2014 GT will be on a lightning deal this morning at 9:10am EST. I have this stroller and I LOVE it.
Just got my welcome box from Amazon, and I'd say it's worth it. Diapers, wipes, a cute teether, a bottle, and a swaddle blanket were the bigger items. I'm up to three or four bottles just from freebies.

I don't know if this was mentioned but depending what state you are in, you may be able to sign up for a free baby box. It is to help decrease the risk of SIDS especially for lower income families. It is a cute, study box with a mattress that can be used as a crib (I plan on using it as a toy bin personally) and also came with freebies like a pack of diapers, wipes, and coupons.
