My first ones and they're long... it's been a crazy week.
Dear Project Manager,
I see you. I get what you're doing. So does my account lead and my fellow business analyst who is also a member of my consulting company. Just because we are part of different consulting companies does not make us enemies. I've worked well (and even become good friends) with team members from other companies. Stop trying to trip me up and throw me under the bus in meetings. Stop bad-mouthing me to our PMO leads. They were the ones who asked for me specifically to be on this project. You'll find me over-prepared for everything in every way. This isn't effective and is just causing me to spend emotional energy when I should be concentrating on this project.
Signed, team member who can do a fantastic job if you would stop railroading me
Dear H,
Yes, you had two cross-country flights in a 24-hour period. It was tiring. Yes, our home was chaos for 9 days while we had the floors replaced. I live there too. I also dropped you off at work super early (earlier than I needed to get up) multiple days in order to take the dog to the sitter. I ran all the errands since you were out of town and then work insane hours. I made sure we had food to eat. When the floors were finished yesterday I used the few minutes I had to set up YOUR alarm clock and YOUR side of the closet (not mine) because I thought it would make you less stressed. While I also work a 40+ hour job which was very stressful this week. Your attitude when I asked you to pick up the dog from the sitter on the late side last night (because they weren't home until then) while I was at a work meeting (which you knew about, we have it every other month) was not appreciated. Please don't be cranky tonight. It's the first night we've seen each other for more than 5 minutes since Sunday.
Love, your wife who keeps your whole life together and you usually recognize this, so ditch the 'tude
