queenofcats I still walk around naked and my older kids are 7 and 5. Whoops. I'm all for body positivity and I wonder sometimes if I had such deep body hate in my teens and early 20's because of how covered up my parents were 24/7
wineandcake it's not about being comfortable in front of my kids- I guess it's about being modest. Many in my circle do the same.
I'm curious about the thought process behind this. Would you wear a two piece if your kids weren't around?
You know - I do.
I guess my thought has always been that my boys will be exposed to so much sexual culture that it's nice to show them a woman doesn't have to fit the mold of society's beauty and sex definitions.
But if I flip it around and think about it from a positive body image female perspective, I can definitely see how that makes sense too.

@wafflesfriendswork lindylogana I tagged you both since you specifically said you are naked around your kids. Obviously yours is younger waffles but I am still interested in your opinion.
I do not try to hide if I am changing or showering. I have three kids and am home with them often so it is bound to happen. Occasionally I will let ds (5.5) and dd1 (4.5) shower with me. Only if they ask. I mean it makes it easier because I don't have to bathe them then. We are all in and out quickly. Recently though I noticed ds stares at me when I am naked. Do I draw a line and not change when he is around? Is this inappropriate that I have allowed this this long?
lovemyirishtwins i think you know your kids best and should take your cues from them. I feel like as long as your kids have a good understanding of safety and nudity (no one should be touching them or asking asking to see them naked, etc) then KOKO - it's not my place to say what is appropriate for your family since I don't think this is harmful.
I don't have bigs and since HH is a girl, I'll probably feel ok being naked in front of her forever. When I was a kid I was super private about my body and wish my mom hadn't teased me about it though.
My kids have great boundaries with their bodies. DS in particular has a very clear understanding of who can or should touch his privacy.
My mil was putting lotion on him after a bath and accidentally touched his privates. He told her in a stern voice never to let it happen again. I could tell she was so embarrassed when he said it. He told her only mommy, daddy, or a doctor can touch him there. I was so proud of him.

My mom was ALWAYS on a diet when I was growing up and her weight has yo-yo'd all over the place. She was always saying how she hated her body and she couldn't wear this or that because she was fat but once she was skinny again she had all of these plans.
It was toxic and I grew up also being a yo-yo dieter and had some messed up ideas about my body and food. It is hard but I really try to never say anything bad about my body or others' in front of E and for food to just be food, not a thing that makes you bad/good.

I couldn't have privacy in my house even if I tried! Mac opens doors and then both have to be right next to me at all times. I try to shower and both are opening the shower door trying to talk to me or show me something. Plus, they don't care if I'm clothed or not. I don't go out of my way to be naked, so it's up to them what they see or don't see - I get dressed in my room or the bathroom and they choose to come in. I see wearing a two piece bathing suit as an absolute non issue. How is dad wearing just swim shorts and no shirt normal but mom showing some tummy a modesty issue? I have no desire to go topless, but if it's not a problem for men it shouldn't be for women so I don't see the modesty issue (I'm not religious so maybe those who are see it differently and I can definitely respect that). Basically a you do you scenario, no judgement towards anyones body or what they choose to wear from me.
So in relation to messed up messages from mom re: body image. My mom used to text me by accident all of the time, usually she was thinking she would be texting her boyfriend. Anyways, I found out that way that she would text him what color underwear she was wearing and how much she weighed that morning.
Some things about this woman absolutely mortify me.
I just read an article about how important it is for both parents to be naked in front of kids (for a long time) so they know what real bodies look like and don't hold themselves or their partners to unrealistic standards. Ill try to find it.
Keep on with your naked selves.
Good because we have a glass shower door and Julia hangs out while we shower.
I don't get why people feel the need to add pronunciation guide on their Facebook profile when there name is something completely normal like Kate Smith or Michelle Wise. Unless your name is commonly mispronounced and or not a common name in America then It just looks dumb.
My H is starting to get a little bit shy. This is mostly after Peyton came in like the paparazzi the other day while he was in the shower and took like 20 photos on his cell phone. LOL
Same as lonegalathome . There got to be a point during pregnancy when I didn't feel safe having a little person in the shower because I was afraid I would fall, so just before 4 he no longer took the occasional shower with me. He will sometimes see me getting dressed or in/out of the shower but I'm definitely done showering with him, and I come from a very openly naked family. I give my boys a bath together, but I'm definitely not in it with them.
If for some reason DS wants to shower, he may still with H. Though, once I heard from the bathroom DS: Let's wash each others penises!! H: NO!!! EVERYONE WASHES THEIR OWN PENIS!!!!
I just had to explain to Mh why I just snorted! This is the BEST.SaveSave
