3 out of his 4 victims in the past week were random women that he had no connection to, so I'll stick to being paranoid for now. There are bad people in the world!
You guys can continue to open your door to everyone though
I don't open for everyone and if there was a murderer in my neighborhood currently murdering people, different story. Most of us don't have that happening.

Also, I'm sorry that's happening!
You would know it was happening if you watched crime tv. I mean Nancy Grace is practically PBS with her public service to this country.

I tend to open my door and DH wants to get cameras for the front and back doors just to have. We are in a new development and lots of people drive through. No one weird has kn ocked yet. When we lived on a main road, I never ever opened the door. It was always solicitors. Also, the front door was jammed so I literally couldn't get it open without a screwdriver. So that helped. 130 year old house...
I open the door most of the time. We live in a really low crime area and are in a townhome, so there are people all around us.
My MIL was kidnapped as a teen while working at Taco Johns and stabbed, so she never answers the door. My parents never even lock the front door unless they are going to bed. They all live in Montana but a city of 110,000.
We have terrible issues with bogus workmen where I stay.
Initially when it first became a problem, elderly people were given stickers from Trading Standards, the Police and the Council like bazingaa has, basically saying "don't bother knocking because we won't answer".
Now I think those stickers are quite mainstream so they must work well.
