I have been putting off buying really anything for the baby since it seems too early. I was thinking though that since I have to buy literally everything (my youngest is 4 and I got rid of every single baby item), I should get started. It is a lot of things, and it is my 5th, so my friends are planning a small meet the baby party, but it's not like a shower.
So far I have bought two outfits I saw and thought were cute, and have a giant list of your buy. What have you bought so far? What do you need to get still?
We're done. I start shopping around 16 weeks and aim to be done by 32 weeks. I got the last convertible we needed and the high chair yesterday with Target's graco sale coupled with a completion coupon discount
This is our first and I don't plan on having a shower. We haven't bought a lot yet but the nursery should be ready next this week so I plan to start soon. So far I have bought a lot of clothes from a consignment sale and we have a hand-me-down stroller and infant tub. ILs bought us a crib which should arrive this week but I am having a hard time deciding on the mattress. I have a lot of other stuff picked out that just needs to get ordered (looking for sales and such) and have a few things I'll keep a eye out at consignment stores for good deals. I think I'll wait to buy most of my diapers as I heard there are a lot of sales on Earth Day.
DS has never had an issue sleeping on it (always slept 12+h through the night unless sick) and wipes clean easily. I also agonized over what mattress to buy because I feel like that's such a big decision when I go buy a new mattress, but in reality it wasn't worth that stress haha. DS also slept on a PNP (with mattress) until 9 months because we lived in a 1 BR condo up until that time, so he probably felt like a king when we got this haha! Sorry dude.
I was just saying to DH I need this to be next weekend project, sorting through what we have and seeing what we need. We tend to be minimalist with baby items (out of necessity with DS because we lived in a 1 BR until he was 9 months) so I don't think we will need much, but now that we have a house with 2 floors we may need a few more places to put baby than we did with DS, especially for times when the toddler needs our attention.
Crib and other nursery furniture will be transferred from DS to baby, and DS will go in the full bed that's currently in our guest room (RIP guest room), so we don't have furniture to buy which is nice. i think I'm going to treat myself to a Tula carrier this time for when baby outgrows the Boba wrap because I really wasn't a fan of the Ergo Performance last time until DS was about 10 months and I know I'm going to need to be hands free more this time around with a toddler.
jmcbick I wasn't a fan of SSC in general until 9-10 months. I'd definitely try out a Tula before ordering one (and then order from a boutique that gives you points, not from Tula itself, if possible).

After we clean out the nursery this weekend, I plan on taking inventory of what we have and what we still need. We order there furniture on Saturday night and that should be delivered in early March. I have been buying stuff here and there and MIL bought some stuff off our registry but right now everything in just piled up around the house, still in boxes or bags so I'm not really sure everything we still need. We're reusing DD's crib mattress, swing (if he likes it - she didn't), and car seat. I know we still need to get a new bouncer, bathtub, and a carrier. We also need decorations for the nursery, as well as bottles and burp cloths. I have been buying clothes but I'm having such a hard time figuring out whether to buy him pj's or not. DD was born in late December and even though we're in FL, it was still cooler so she wore footies a lot. It can be starting to get pretty warm here by May. Footies seem like they could be too warm so I'm wondering if we might just want to forgo the pj's and have him sleep in a onesie or just a diaper when swaddled. Decisions, decisions.

This is our 2nd and I kept everything so we don't need much. I plan on completing my list sometime in April.
Here's what we need/want:
-infant car seat (AA airline lost ours and we got a convertible to replace) -car backseat mirror -solly baby wrap or moby evolution -3 more newborn covers, prefolds, 4-6 more AIO's -couple nursing tanks/bras -glider
So far the only things I've bought are cloth diapers and some gender neutral onesies since DS was a winter baby and practically lived in sleepers his first 2-3 months of life. I just got a cheap big wet bag for diapers too since ours just started leaking this past week.
sleepymonkey DS1 was a January baby and slept in gowns with a swaddle until mid-October when he finally outgrew them... I wouldn't dismiss sleepers for that young
sleepymonkey DS1 is a July baby and I had him in a light sleeper or onesie + pants when swaddled at night depending on how hot it was that day. I was (still am) fearful of overheating so I spent a lot of time at night checking him.
We've bought a lot of clothes (by "we" I mean me, H doesn't have the clothing bug). This is our first/only and I acknowledge I'm going a bit crazy. Other than that, I've been starting our diaper stock. The shower is this weekend, so I'm going to see where we are after that. So far people have bought most of what I'll need off the bat from my registry, which is exciting.
I like the Earth Day note, I'll have to remember that for diapers.
I haven't bought anything. Luckily we don't need much this time, but I need to make some decisions and then start sale hunting. I think I'm going to BRU this weekend to trade in our expired infant seat....I need to decide what I want to do for sleeping (sidecar crib or arms reach)...then I'll at least be able to get baby home and have somewhere to put her :-)
I just ordered some muslin swaddle blankets (which I have loved with my last two babies) and a Graco lite pack and play. I will have to tell my husband that I am behind haha. We were talking and he thought it was way too early to buy stuff until I reminded him that we can either spend at once, and have a crap load of stuff to set up, or start spacing it
I need to get on calling my insurance for my pump, and researching what is the best hiking backpack.

I wonder when we should start setting up the baby stuff. Maybe late April since I'm not due until towards the end of May. Most of it is in closets or the attic. I feel like I need to declutter more before I do that.
We still have everything from DS, so we just a couple doubles of things because twins...
So far we've bought: - a 2nd crib - k'taan wrap - a couple boxes of disposable diapers - a box of wipes - liners for our Playtex bottles - 2 playpen sheets - new monitor (ours with DS just crapped out last month) - baby brezza formula maker (2nd hand from friends) - our friends are letting us borrow their infant car seat. Our infant one from DS expires March 2018 so we'll just move them to convertibles by then. - a couple pacifiers - swaddle me swaddles - baby soap - diaper cream
We still need: - 2 new crib mattresses (DS'S has rips in it) - possibly one of those swing/bouncers so we have 2 of both - a 2nd high chair (not need right away obviously) - I need to go through DS'S baby clothes and see what we have. We'll be fine for older clothes but I'm concerned our seasons may not match well in the beginning (DS is a Sept baby)
I also need to find another tote of baby stuff and see what we have for blankets, etc. to see if there's anything there that needs doubled or replaced

Christmas? I can't bend down easily so we set up the furniture back around Christmas while I could still get up and down off the floor.

That makes sense. We don't have any actual furniture to set up so that's probably why I'm not rushed. Just going to get out the pack n'play, bouncer, swing, RNP, baby mat and bucket of baby toys.
I was having a minor freak out about not having anything ready this weekend lol.
I'm trying to hold off buying anything until after my shower... problem with that is that step mom hasn't decided on a date (and I casually mentioned meeting up for lunch to discuss about 3 weeks ago and she hasn't took me up on that)...I don't want to be pushy since it's nice of her to offer to host the shower but I do not want have a shower later than mid April since I'm worried about having this baby early and having nothing ready lol...were Supposed to get together when my sister is in town next week so hoping we can set a date then.
We have a dresser (DH is going to paint it) Getting a hand me down crib and changing table (impatiently waiting on my dad to bring it over, since he has a truck and it won't all fit in our cars) I have 90% of our newborn cloth diapers bought which I bought on Black Friday, I plan to get the last few during earth day sales We have about 7 outfits

I realized this weekend that DD's baby Stella doll has more stuff than the new baby.
Since we still have everything from DD we haven't bought anything for the baby yet. I bought her first non-hand-me-down outfit this weekend. DH wanting us to move to a new house combined with both of us not wanting to move the guest room furniture means we probably won't be setting up a room until after the baby gets here. DD stayed in our room in the bassinet until she was rolling and we'll probably do the same - although DD is also a terrible sleeper and I need to figure out if there's something we need to do differently to try to keep this baby from also being a terrible sleeper.
I haven't bought anything but a few clothes for my little man - and even then, I don't really NEED those since he has two big brothers. I'm just justifying it because after two boys wearing the clothes I have, they are all stained yellow from spit up and crazy faded. Plus, my other two boys were born in the fall/winter so this is my first experience with a spring baby so all my clothes I have are out of season. Especially since I'm in TX and it's so effing hot here in the summer.
We need a crib, since kid 2 is still in the crib....he is 16 months today so he should (hopefully) be in it for a while. But I'm still hesitant and think I should just keep kid 3 in my room until kid 2 turns 2, then put him in a twin bed with rails and hope for the best. I'm normally a crib 4 lyfe type mama....so this idea scares me, lol.
We need a double stroller...my kid 1 and 2 are almost 4 years apart so we didn't get one, but with kid 2 and 3 only being at most 19 months to the day apart, we will need one for them. I also sold my bouncy seat and swing about 2 months before I found out I was pregnant so I'll need at least one of those things...prob a swing.
I just feel like I'm putting off everything...almost like I'm still in denial that a kid 3 is coming, ha!

We're mostly waiting until after our shower (mid-March) to figure out what else we'll need. So far we have some clothes (both new and hand-me-down), a high chair on its way, a hand-me-down swing, a hand-me-down jumper, a hand-me-down bumbo, and a small assortment of hand-me-down toys/bibs. Basically we've barely spent any money so far lol.
Me: 32, Wife: 38, Together for 5 years, Married for 2 years IUI #1 (8/2016): Letrozole, Ovidrel, Crinone = BFN IUI #2 (9/2016): Letrozole, Ovidrel, Endometrin = BFP!! EDD 5/26/17
I'm starting to feel the panic too. I actually washed all his clothes that we've bought so I could see what we have. We have some of DD's old stuff but some of it is so it's we had to get new stuff.

I think I may need to make MH go up in the attic and get all of the baby stuff down very soon so I can make sure that what we plan on reusing is still in decent shape. I don't want to be counting on reusing something only to find out it doesn't work at the last minute. Plus I am pretty sure we have at least a few gender-neutral onesies and sleepers lurking in the boxes and boxes of baby girl clothes we have.
For those of you reusing a breast pump, mine was barely used and has been stored in the attic for the past 2 years (it was stored in the box in air-conditioning for the year before that.) Do you think I need to replace any parts before attempting to reuse it if I decide to BF? I know I can get a new free pump from my insurance but it seems like a waste, especially if I'm not sure I will be BFing.
sleepymonkey I'm in the same boat regarding a pump that was barely used and is about 2 years old. As far as your question, maybe you can get all the parts out and turn it on to make sure it's suction still works? That's all I can think of, someone probably has a better idea.
*Obviously don't try it out on your breast, just put it against your hand or something.
We are reusing most of DD's stuff...what isn't pink, that is. I actually got really lucky because my aunt ignored my pink obsession and bought a red & gray high chair for DD, then I found the matching Graco Click Connect Travel system & PnP on an online yard sale for $70! Even though I wasn't pregnant yet, I bought it just in case the next kid was a boy.
We transitioned DD to the toddler bed seamlessly so the crib and glider are in the nursery. We also took the square IKEA cubes from DD's room and are going to use them in lieu of a dresser. I just need to get blue bins for them, blue/gray crib sheets and blankets, and nursery decor.
Between gifts and hand-me-downs from friends, we have a complete wardrobe for him up to 12 mos! My friend also gave us barely-used burp cloths, bibs and bottles (since DD's were all pink!).
My only big buys are going to be a double stroller and a new infant carrier.

mcp6286, most of our major stuff we got with DD was gender neutral except for the swing, which is pink butterflies. But DD barely used it and it was expensive so I figure baby boy will be using it if he likes it. I can't imagine buying a new one, especially since it's only used at home. One of DD's convertible car seats is pink, too, but when it's time to switch him to the convertible and her to a high back booster, I saw we can buy a new cover for it, which is a lot cheaper than a new seat.
jmcbick if you're ok with secondhand, sometimes they have tulas on the budget babywearing swap on fb. I think the official title is "babywearing on a budget" - you can usually get stuff well under retail, though I've never tried a Tula and idk what they retail for.
We need almost nothing since DS is 2, and I would rather let DD reuse blue stuff than buy a lot of new. We'll get new bottle nipples but I'm waiting to make sure she likes the same types. Debating the pump thing too - I also still have my PISA, which worked pretty well but I used it tons - at least 3x/day while working FT from 3 months - so I will probably replace it. I'm seriously considering renting a hospital grade pump this time, since I think that's an option with my insurance and I would love something quicker and more effective. Other than that, just a few crib sheets, maybe a 2nd boppy for upstairs.
Oh, and I've bought 2 woven wraps and a ring sling, bc they're soooooo pretty, and I want to be able to go hands free so I can interact more with both kids. I used the moby then a classic ergo last time and loved the moby, so I'm hoping this one likes wraps.
Most of the stuff we're buying is for DS's toddler room, honestly. Though I think we're about done there, just waiting on some furniture from family then we'll move him to the toddler bed in a couple weeks (God help me).
