I called the midwife's office today because I was experiencing uterine cramps for about 3 hours this morning. The nurse made me feel really awful. I told her the only thing that were different was that 1) I was taking Sudafed for a cold and 2) I had done a particularly difficult yoga class on Saturday, but other than that, things were normal.
She gave me some response along the lines of "Well with Sudafed as a stimulant, the green tea you're drinking, and an intense workout, I'm not surprised you're cramping. Go drink a gallon of water and then call me back."
It was really sarcastic and condescending. This is my first pregnancy that I've made it this far. I didn't realize I was dehydrating myself. Green tea doesn't have nearly the amount of caffeine as coffee, so I actually thought I was doing myself some good, especially since I'm still sick. And now I haz all the guilt...
WTF. The whole point of having a nurse on call is to be able to ask questions and run things by them. If she can't be nice to the mamas who call, she shouldn't be answering the one on call. I'm sorry she mad you feel badly.
Rama like I said I have been doing Powerade. You just have to be careful because it is super sugary. I limit it to less than one a day. Do you like milk or milk alternatives? Milk is wonderful and low in sugar. I drink lactose free about 2cups a day. I do like herbal tea though so I do that too.
I've been doing Gatorade, but keeping it on the low end. Glad to know this is okay!
Has anyone here ever quit using shampoo? Like either do a baking soda/apple cider mix or just quit it altogether? Asking since my H decided to quit using it and see what happens and now I'm thinking about it. Basically...we are dirty hippies :)
I've done "no 'poo" before and double washed with conditioner. I liked it, but eventually went back to shampoo and conditioner anyway. There's no harm in trying it!

Powerade has vitamin B6 added now (in Canada anyway) so my mind makes me think it's better for MS. Whether it's a placebo or not it makes me feel better!
Do I really have to complete the checklist on Amazon to get the welcome box? DNW all of the things they suggest. I guess I can add them, order the box, then remove, but wondering if there's a way around that?
I don't know if this works for the welcome box, but they do have the option to mark a section "complete" without actually registering for each suggested thing on the section. I did that for a bunch because unchecked boxes make me twitchy.
IIRC manually checking off the boxes does make you eligible for the Welcome Box.

Oooh, I'll keep that in mind. I'm still in the nausea stage, so I'm keeping the barfs at bay, but if I need it, I'll go to POWERade!
For you ladies cutting your hair off, I'm wondering what kind of hair you have, texture wise? I cut all my hair off with DD and regretted it immensely because my hair is wavy and never acts normal and it was too short to put in a ponytail so I had to straighten it all the time. I'm actually growing it out this time so I can easily pull it back. I'm jealous of the ladies who can wash their hair and just leave it.

My MWs told me to take Zantac, suck on jolly ranchers, and drink Gatorade all through first tri... I drank a lot of Gatorade

This. I cut my hair into a really cute stacked bob, but it takes a good deal of daily styling. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I decided to grow it back out. I need to be able to throw my hair in a ponytail for the last trimester/newborn stage.

My hair is super thick and curly naturally, so I heat style it every time I wash it no matter the cut or length. Right now it takes 30-45 minutes to style on wash days, but I typically only wash every 4-5 days.

Thick and wavy. I'm definitely keeping enough of it to ponytail -- this is my natural state. I'm thinking shoulder blade length for me.

setsuna17 I have wavy hair and I chopped all mine after DD was born. I found the trick for mine was to go to a pixie. If I go with a bob then it requires blow drying and straightening. I still did that with my pixie but it literally took like 5 seconds because hellooo short. Lol

I have thick, but kind of fine hair with slight waves but mostly straight. I don't style it. My blow dryer broke 5 years ago and I never replaced it. I have a flat iron and curling iron, but only use them on special occasions....maybe once a month.

setsuna17 I have very thick very wavy very frizzy hair. I keep it in an inverted bob a few inches above my shoulders. I have to straighten it. My natural waves are nothing good. But I only wash my hair twice a week. So twice a week I straighten. The rest of the week it looks pretty good with just a brushing and maybe some minimal touch up. It's long enough to pull into a ponytail if needed but I usually just leave it down.

setsuna17, I have very thick wavy hair that grows very fast- I've donated a handful of times. My last cut was my favorite- a little above shoulder-length- and it was thinned out enough that I was able to scrunch and encourage it to curl pretty nicely. It's gotten too long to curl nicely now and I've been lazy about styling- wash, air-dry overnight, ponytail or bun- but it's not a good look.
I went to a moms brunch and well it ended up being a mom selling essential oils. It is hard making friends as an adult
Ugh. They should at least tell you if that's the kind of event it is. I mean...I sell jewelry, I'm all for the social selling parties (they're fun if you're actually interested in the product or service being sold), but the sneak attack is totally not cool.
Also, I agree that it's hard trying to make friends as an adult. I keep hoping I'll make some "mom friends", but its such an awkward thing.
It's going to take a lot more than a baby for me to cut my hair. I love it longer. But, it only takes me about 20 mins to blow dry/flatiron it.
Give me your hair. Mine takes no less than half an hour for a "quick" shower and blow dries in NEVER. (Probably would take at least an hour. Straightening takes several hours.)
