Weight: 9mo/12mo 18lbs13oz/19lbs15oz he only gained a little over a pound.
I was pretty worried about the weight gain, but the pedi wasn't. She said since he had such a huge spurt right before 9 mo, she wasn't concerned. Still, it's disconcerting to see that.
Milestones: He is standing on his own pretty solidly and even trying to take steps!!
Personality traits: He is such a talker and a little ham! He will give his Mickey hugs and kisses, which melts my heart.
Updates - jumped 2 1/2 inches in length but only a little over a pound in weight. Pedi wants us to go to a feeding evaluation to see if there are any concerns since she's not into table food yet. I scheduled it 3 weeks out so I can cancel if she suddenly kicks it into gear. In the meantime, keeping her fed and incorporating anything higher calories I can to get her weight up.
Just back from the doctor... first semi stressful appt we have had.
LO is 29.5" and 18 lbs 5 oz. her weight has slipped a little but they aren't worried about that, still good gain and she is walking so the doctor said that's to be expected, she really gained some height!
She had low iron though so we have to give the iron supplements and go back in a month. Did anybody else have low iron? I feel really bad, looking back I probably should have just done the supplements, she was a low birth weight baby, EBF, and never really ate cereal... hopefully next month it looks good and we don't have to worry about it. I think I will also start adding fortified oats to her smoothies.
We also got a prescription for an epi pen and a recommendation (we don't need referrals) to see an allergist about the bug bites. The appt took awhile and she skipped all the usual safety stuff etc, she was like I know you've got that part, etc. instead I got a demo on how to use the epi pen and info about iron.

jewel441 I wouldn't be surprised if many babies are low in iron. They actually don't test for that here. I think they only do if you Express some concern. My friend brought it up at an appointment Because her daughter didn't eat meat. My oldest wasn't tested and I don't expect E will be either at her 12 month.

They didnt do an iron test at, least not yet. She said most likely at 18mos. I am sure she is fine.
Max is 25lbs and 30.5 inches. He is so big. Well compared to his birth weight (5lbs 10oz). He is having a hard time with trying new foods. I put it on his tray but sometimes he just plays with his food. I am worried that he only wants milk/bottles and is not in-taking enough food. Doc said he should be fine just to keep giving him food at least 3 meals and 2 snacks. He loves turkey meatballs but I know I cant give him that everyday. We were at Costco the other day and they were giving fish sticks as a free sample and he actually enjoyed it. I plan to buy some when I do another Costco run. Any other ideas? What does your LO like to eat?

Aiden is 28.9" tall, 22lbs 4oz, and his head is a whopping 18.5" Riley is 28.75" tall, 20lbs 2oz, and her head is 18"
We got a raise don't have to buy formula anymore!
They both say Mama and Dada, and Riley has started to say "Dou" for dog. Aiden has started to make the "B" sound when I try to get him to say bunny or bear. Riley is *this close* to taking her first unassisted step! They are both lightening fast when they crawl. Generally, they crawl in the same direction... for now.
Aiden is my chill boy... so laid back. Riley is my thinker. She wants to be on the go all the time.
Had our 1 year visit today! The vaccinations were awful.
Height: 9 months/12 months 28"/28.5" she hasn't grown!
Weight: 9 months/12 months 18 pounds /23 pounds doctor was very impressed
Milestones: Has a few words, cruises the furniture like a pro, eats everything, puts her hands up and down and tells you how old she is!
Any new personality traits? Same smiley girl, but man, the quick tears when she doesn't get her way... We are in major trouble.
He got 6 shots. 3 in each leg. Ugh! He was so grumpy!
What shots did you get? We only got 3... mmr, chicken pox, and I forget the other one but it was the last dose of the old series one... I know they sometimes get hep a now too, our pedi said she does it at 12 months for kids in daycare and 15 for those not in, so we waited... just wondering what the other 2 are?

I'll have to check I think flu shot was included but can't remember

Gotcha. We got that one at her 9 month (and then went back for the second half)

K is 16lbs 14oz and 28.5 inches tall. She is a peanut. The dr. made a comment on how bulky her diapers are and I had to explain that was because I need to stuff them with extra padding to make up for her lack of thighs, so they don't leak.
She's still in 10th percentile so we got the go ahead for milk and as long as she doesn't drop by her 15 month appointment we are good! She got 3 shots which were just as bad as her 2month shots in terms of dramatic, over the top, glass shattering screaming. My H took her for her CBC and lead test over the weekend so I assume if they don't call me with something then it's good.
We had a development explosion over the weekend. We worked on her language since the dr. asked for 3 words she could say and I could only come up with two. Now she says a bunch of stuff consistently, learned to push herself on her balance bike by herself, and started walking! This could explain the crazy temper tantrums and dramatic whining that takes up most of the day.

How did you work on the language?
LO says ball, and maybe dada she can sign more but usually just does it back or when you tell her to tell you more if she wants it, not like independently. Doctor didn't seemed worried, although we kinda had a lot going on at the appt so that stuff didn't get as much attention as usual... she definitely understands way more than that.

Before we were repeating all the babble back. So she would say "ba da ba dada ba" and we would either say "oh yeah? tell me more" or just repeat it back to her like a conversation. I realized that this was a big mistake and was reinforcing the wrong words. She would also point at everything and say "dada" and I would say "dada is at work" or "dada is on his way home". Now when she points at things and says "dada" I say the what it is. If she babbles, I explain what I'm doing. I also repeat the word five billion times while she has an object. She has balloons leftover from her party so we give her the balloon and say "balloon" over and over and over. Now she says balloon (ba ooon). It's a lot of reinforcement.
I need to mention that k doesn't sign. She has no interest and refuses to sign words back. So we have pretty much given up on signing.

We do a lot of this too. E has a few words and I just repeat them a lot to her. She says "goggie/boggie" for our dog. When she says it and is looking at our dog, or another, I repeat it "yes there's the doggie". She had her first day at daycare last week and in the 3 hours she was there her daycare worker taught her "ball". Now we constantly ask her to find the ball or ask what it's called. Just repetition over and over.
Fwiw I'm a little surprised SheilaTheTank was asked for 3 words. With dd1 at a year I was only asked if she was trying to make words, not if she had any. I think different doctors have different opinions on how many words kids should have when. I'm curious to see if it's changed when I take E.
My understanding is words are not a concern until 18 months. So we have a long time yet! And I still know many kids who had less than a handful of words at 18 months, and speaking in sentences at 2.
We had our appointment this morning. A is 19lbs 4oz and 29 inches tall. I had a concern about her pulling her hair really hard, like pulling out hair. She does it as a comfort thing when she's tired or upset. It's gotten a lot more.... violent? Aggressive? In the past few months. The doctor didn't really have an answer for me on if I should be worried and I'm afraid to Google it. She did suggest a jacket or something with mitts that cover her hands to discourage it. A won't keep a hat on. She said she would do some research and talk to some colleagues and get back to me. She said in older children they would do behavioral therapy to help, but with a 12 month old that's not really an option. I used to watch a preschooler that did this and she would rip out chunks of hair and make her scalp bleed. Everything else was fine with the appointment. 5 shots though. She's cranky today.

Is there any way you can talk to a child therapist? This sounds like anxiety. I have no idea what a 1 year old could be anxious about, but I would look into it to be sure.

Does she have enough hair to put it up for now?
So I finally got brave enough to google it and it actually sounds like fairly typical behavior. I'm going to keep trying different textured toys and lovies to try and find something she might use instead. She's still essentially bald. Her hair is just long enough to get a fistful, but not near long enough to put up. It's also super fine. I think this rate we will be able to put it in a ponytail in kindergarten. Maybe. Lol
Won't get our full stats til next Wednesday, but he was 20 pounds 12oz on Monday. Brady tested positive for flu type A then. His 12 month appt was supposed to be today but we rescheduled.
Milestones: Since the last check in he has started crawling, pulling to stand, letting go with one hand while standing, clapping, and does some physical things when asked to (clapping, blowing raspberries, giving us things etc)
Any new personality traits? He gets really upset when you tell him no, so that's been fun! He's also started picking on his sister (smacking her head, pulling her hair, climbing all over her). He loves music and lights and claps and sways back and forth/bounces when playing with toys.
He got 2 shots at the doctor and they were in his arm for the first time. We were also told no more than 16oz of whole milk a day so we should cut back. Whoops. He seems to want the liquid, so she said we should cut back from four 5oz cups to four 4oz milk/1oz water cups so then he'll be more in the correct zone.
