I know we've discussed travel before, but we're taking our first flight with baby girl next month. 😳 She'll be a little over three months old. We got her a seat on the plane so we can bring the car seat with us for our rental car, but I think we should carry on the Ergo too, since that seems to calm her. I'll also plan to nurse for takeoff and landing. Any other flight tips or travel must-haves? Should I bring my own sheet for the hotel crib? They have both cribs and PNPs but I requested a crib.
Second part of this, we're going to Denver where historical temps at this time are lows in the 20s to highs in the 50s. My Texan baby has never really dealt with cold weather. What do I need to keep her warm and comfortable?
Blankets are all you need to keep her warm in the car seat! I use 1 knitted blanket right now that I flip up over her head when we're moving from the car to inside or vice versa. When it's colder (it's an unseasonable warm Wisconsin winter right now) I use a muslin swaddle blanket folded in quarters under the knitted blanket. I'm a terrible cold weather mama because I don't put hats on her outside -- but she hates everything we've tried putting on her head.
Wear an oversized coat for yourself and when you wear her outside you can zip her up inside your coat.

I'm flying with my two month old tomorrow so I'll report back if I learn anything. We will have our car seat and stroller to check at the gate but I've heard if it's not a full flight they'll let us have an extra seat for her car seat. We didn't buy her a seat but I read southwest has infant fares if you call. Otherwise we will just hold her so I'm bringing a k'tan. They can't be worn during takeoff and landing but I assume nursing will be fine still. That's my plan too!
I picked up a travel size thing of disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer, so I can try to keep us as healthy as possible during the flights. Other than that I haven't bought or done anything special. I hope it goes well!!

babycowbell How did it go? Did you end up with an extra seat? We did an infant fare on Southwest. Sanitizer and wipes are definitely important. I need to start a list.
mrsp121308 I feel like wearing her makes everything easier! The blanket seems to be the preferred method to keep warm. The car seat seems hot anyway.

lola it went pretty well. We were delayed leaving and I didn't get to feed her when I planned to because we had to rush through. We missed family boarding and ended up at the very back of the plane to get seats together. Once we were actually on the plane though she did well. I nursed her for takeoff and landing and never used our baby wearing wrap. We also kept our stroller and car seat to gate check but since she was being fussy we took her out and carried her around so it may not have been worthwhile. Although I feel like the odds of damage are lower with checking at the gate, but our stuff still ended up with scratches. I brought a bottle of pumped milk with us which was a good idea so I could give her an ounce or so easily when it wasn't practical to nurse her but she was hungry.
