Well. Charlotte and DS were running around the hotel and Charlotte tripped and smacked her face on the crib and it immediately bruised and swelled. On her forehead. Right before we go to the park. My vapid dreams of beautiful Disneyland pictures are ruined. And I'm sad. BUT, she's acting fine.
Today is Dylan's speech eval at noon. They came to her preschool last week and did a hearing test which was normal. I'm interested to see what they do and what they say.

jnetx that sounds like a lot! I'm glad things seem to have smoothed out.
It is Friday! We have a hectic weekend of trying to get furniture we were gifted out of storage. And I'm kind of hoping I don't have to help and can just play with DS. But other than that, I'm hoping for a smooth today and little traffic so I can get home and take a cupcake and wine bubble bath. I've been trying to eat healthier (wells2010 I even set up a chat with a nutritionist about pcos diet !) and have not had a cupcake in a week. I had a few Reese cups, but still. Baby steps! So I want to reward myself with a treat. Also, I think I'm in cupcake withdrawal. Seriously. It is a thing.
This just makes me want to meet you at the bakeshop. Because I am a sugar and sugar-substitute addict.

Last night Hunter was running and fell face first into the couch and then bounced back and fell on his back and hit his head on the way down. His mouth was bleeding, he cried a lot, I nearly cried. He was fine. Cuddled for a while and eventually gave Tylenol when he calmed down and the bleeding stopped. Seeing kids get hurt is no fun, but fortunately they seem to heal up quickly. This kid has had so many injuries in his short life and with his personality I anticipate even more in years to come. The boy is wild and fearless. Falling head first off the bed at 6 months old was the worst, but we monitored and he was fine aside from a giant bump on his forehead.
amch8 I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Sleeping in her room for 2 days is crazy and ice won't magically make it better. Monitor her, but I'm sure the nurse was being overly cautious. If someone calls the hospital and tells us anything is wrong we have to tell them to come to emerge, even if they stub their toe we have to cover ourselves completely and have them come be assessed.

H is out at a work event tonight (translation: he and his co workers are going out drinking) so I think E and I might order pizza for dinner. Except it's really all for me because E doesn't like pizza.

I just dropped T off with the in-laws for the weekend!!! Our new bathtub and window arrived this week, so it'll be a full weekend of house renovation stuff, but still I'm excited for the break! I'm about to head into Target to pick up some storage bins so I can get a toy rotational system going, and then I'm having lunch with a friend and plan on taking a nap after that.
Completely unrelated- at work on Wednesday, I was talking to my boss and the baby kicked me really hard up near the ribs. It was painful. I grabbed my side and gasped a little, and my boss freaked out. Like, do I need to go home or go to the hospital, am I sure I'm ok, can he get me anything... it was really sweet. And kinda funny.
EmMilAlly, our after birth experiences sound familiar. There was no way I would have let anyone near me so soon like that. In fact- I let DH sleep through all the interventions I had to deal with cause I didn't even want him to bother me.
amch8, last week, Z slipped and smacked the side of his head very hard on the kitchen tiles. No ice, just hugs and kisses and voila, good as new!

I got so confused today when I saw a Friday patient on the schedule today at work. I thought I screwed something up last Friday and she needed an extra appointment. Nope, I'm just crazy and thought it was Monday not Friday. I felt like such an idiot when I asked the other nurse why she needed an extra visit.
Thanks everyone. I've been feeling really weird and embarrassed about it since it happened. I guess I'll just try to move on!
amch8 the good news is you or whoever is watching her have all day to keep an eye on her before bed. I agree that nurse is nuts. Maybe they have to say that for liability? Henry got a big goose egg a few weeks ago and we, uh, didn't do anything...
W is super cranky this morning. But it's supposed to be mid50s and sunny all day so a trip to the park is in order. And maybe a walk. Hoping getting out of the house will help.
It's supposed to be in the high 50's today and tomorrow and then the 60's until WEDNESDAY!!! I'm soooo happy that the only day I work is Tuesday!
Still freaking out over JR's accident this morning. No idea what happened. One second we were all on the bed and the next she and the dog had tumbled off. She cried for a little bit then was acting totally normal. Wouldn't let us put ice on her head, which is the one thing the pediatric nurse said was imperative. The nurse also said we have to monitor her and sleep in her room for two nights to look out for vomit and changes in behavior and I just wish she had told me JR was going to be fine. Her little goose egg looks so sad.
Ummm...here's this pediatric nurses advice....(and my unit is also covers neurosurgery so I take care of kids with head injuries often) never in my 16 year career have I ever put ice on any kids head. 2. I have never told a parent to sleep in their kids room. 3. If she has a goose egg it will resolve on its own. Surprisingly the worst head injuries don't have goose eggs. Watch her behavior. Things to call/have her evaluated for are lethargy or vomiting, or if she just seems not herself. Trust your instincts.

It is 73 right now and our forecast has highs in the 60s and 70s until next Friday. This is so weird. I think we're going to the zoo tomorrow! It should be in the 40s here, this time of year.
I ate a whole burrito from chipotle today. It's probably the most food I've eaten at one time in weeks and I can just feel it sitting in my stomach. I now look about 24 weeks pregnant. It was so worth it though.
So Dylan's eval went pretty well. She was a little concerned that Dylan doesn't make any "p" sounds yet but after tallying the results she is in the normal range so won't qualify for any intervention. I guess that means I have more to work on myself.

I had Chipotle last night. I was BLOATEDDDDD.
I'm so sad that, while I was able to finish, it didn't taste that great and it took me quite a while to get it down. I had to avoid it for a while last time too. UGH.

I'm just sitting on the couch eating a bag of chocolate chips trying to enjoy the storm of the year. We did the children's museum this morning and it sort of bummed me out. There was a bunch of extra security (it's in a Jewish center) which was awful and then the guy who lead the sing-a-Long today was super rude to my friend. Now Kevin (the cat) is freaking out because of the storm and I'm worried he's going to wake up Bill. I NEED an hour or so to just veg.
In some amusing news, I just found out the Bill's babysitters are minor Canadian celebrities.

Thank you, favorite pediatric nurse! I was going to tag you in the original post but forgot how many r's were in your name
I had today off, but MIL was still coming to watch R, so I was very excited to have time to write! BUT, just like any time I have time to write, it immediately got shit on. We're having a huge storm today and MIL gets scared driving in this kind of rain, so I only got to write for an hour before I had to come back home and take over. I have Monday off, but DC is closed, so I won't be able to do anything. Even when I have a day off, I never get a day off.

You have GOT to join the YMCA (I think there's one near you in Tustin). Two free hours of childcare everyday. I mean, you have to stay in the Y but a lot of them have private offices. My friend and I are launching a little business (can't wait to tell you guys about it soon) and we wouldn't have been able to get anything done without the Y childcare.

Yes I second this! We go all of the time. They have an area with free wifi. I get a lot of schoolwork done there and so does my H. I think once your kid is seven or so you can leave the Y too (at least at ours). My kids love it and I had Ps party there for $50/hr. yl
A is asleep, my husbands at the gym and I'm bundled up on the couch watching S2 of Greys Anatomy (when it was still good) so content. My day sucked, I needed this. There's also a cannoli in the fridge whispering to me #soitalian

New window is in!!! One step closer to getting T into his room and getting the guest room stuff out of my front room. I also desperately wish I could take a bubble bath right now, but I've still got a good 2 months probably until the remodel is finished and I can use that bathroom.
