I know someone that has the flu well friend of a friend IRL. I am always amazed when someone says someone has the flu on here cause I have not know anyone to get the flu in like 20 years!
That's pretty impressive. Our hospital diagnosed 42 new cases of influenza in just the last week so it definitely exists.
We get weekly e-mails about this during flu season...
Oh God yes. Hell, one of our patient was diagnosed in clinic today.
Thank the fucking lord that I didn't treat her personally. Otherwise I'd be drowning in hand sanitizer and Tamiflu right now.

DH got the flu three years ago. It was awful. I distinctly remember counting days because it was day 8 when I thought "he's wobbly today, but actually pretty human and self sufficient!" He was a sous chef at the time and his boss was pressuring him to come back to work ASAP. I convinced him to give her a hard no until his doctor said he was 100% not contagious. Cooking food for people while you are recovering from the flu? Nightmare scenario. She ended up firing him a few weeks later because she "couldn't count on him." Confession part, I really wanted to give her a Yelp review that MAY have said that the owner wants to give people serious diseases but DH managed to convince me that was a truly terrible idea. Fair enough.
I know Larry happened. Please do not try to convince me otherwise. Please don't talk to me about coffee. I don't drink it. I don't caffeine. When I state my opinion, that is me chiming in on a topic. This is not me saying you suck at life if you do or feel differently. If I want to say that, I will. If I want to speak on you, I will.
I wish you both didn't feel this way. You have both accomplished a lot and have constantly demonstrated on these boards that you are wise to the ways of the world. I have worked with people with more education and "accomplishments" than they can fit on one page, and they couldn't find their way out of a paper bag. Smarts and accomplishments aren't just measured in empirical academic metrics.
