We went to 3 stores, looking to buy a couch, but we didn't like anything. The last place we went, we were helped by the most odd salesman I've come across.
MH and DD are driving me crazy today, so they are upstairs while I'm downstairs, trying to relax, playing on my phone, and watching the Teen Mom special Being Debra.
I am watching NCIS and drinking wine. My best friend of a million years came down today, haven't seen her since September. I arranged it so my parents took DS and I could have brunch out baby-free. Mimosas are my favorite things.

I know that feeling. DH hates furniture shopping because I'm so picky. It took us three months to find a couch we both liked and agreed on.

Where did you go?
I have gotten my last two couches at Macy's home and been really happy with them.
A mom and pop, Costco, Ashley Home Furniture.
I think I'm too specific with what I want; I like what we have now, but a bit more modern and in a darker color (we have a 4 seater sectional with a long chaise in light brown microfiber fabric).
I will definitely go check out Macy's tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion!
If I bought SO a fire stick for our anniversary, could I cancel our Netflix and Hulu subscriptions? Is that how that works? You just unlock it and everything becomes free? (Stolen?)
It's not stolen. You have access to sites where people put streams of the shows. So you're not stealing Netflix or Hulu. It's a different source.
I know Larry happened. Please do not try to convince me otherwise. Please don't talk to me about coffee. I don't drink it. I don't caffeine. When I state my opinion, that is me chiming in on a topic. This is not me saying you suck at life if you do or feel differently. If I want to say that, I will. If I want to speak on you, I will.

That's exactly what happens with us. He liked about 10 couches, but I found something wrong with every single one.

I was also surprised to learn that a lot of consignment shops sell new couches. We got the set for our formal living room at one and the woman told me that she buys New because they hardly get any in condition to sell but there is a high demand.
I don't know why I started shopping without consulting you first- you're a wealth of information. Thank you!
I'm definitely going to Macy's tomorrow, and two other mom and pops. I told MH to check out Room & Board to see if there's anything he likes. You're so helpful 😀
We went to a classic steak and martini place for dinner with DH's grandmother. The waiter was difficult to understand and I didn't catch the second word of the veal special. But everything else about it sounded good. I asked DH but he hadn't been paying attention. I took a chance and ordered it. I really should have thought longer about how he said it came with bacon and onions.
Everyone decided that today was a great day for the children's museum. It was the busiest I've ever seen it, which was kind of a bummer. At least the kids burned some energy.
Opening a bottle of red and making meatballs and sauce when we get home.
That's what we did today and it was insane. I got a headache from the din. But there's not a lot to do when it rains around here apparently.
MIL is annoying me with her facebook behavior. The attention seeking, the passive aggressive comments about how she wishes she saw her grandchildren more, etc. But I know she eats all the crackers for me, so I'm probably reading into it. She is visiting in two weeks. The upside is, these visits always provide more stories for my SIL and I to share. (if you remember the poison ham story, that is my MIL).

Yikes. Is she staying with you?
Nope, in a hotel. A few years ago when we moved into our house, we finally had a guest room. MIL made a comment before they visited about how she "would never want to intrude, and of course we will get a hotel." 90% sure she was trying for a "oh no, you have to stay with us!" reaction. But DH and I just said, "ok, if you insist!" and now they always stay in a hotel when they come. When they visit BIL and SIL they stay at their house and it always goes really, really poorly. The relationship has deteriorated as a result of the drama. When they visit us, everyone goes to their own space when people get tired and it works well. So even though I've gotten some guilt tripping from people about letting family stay in a hotel, it works for us.
vivela , ignore those trying to guilt trip. A two week stay is even tough with someone you have a great relationship with. Other than SIL staying the night once in a while b/c were having drinks, I never have overnight guests even though we have plenty of space. I don't like people staying in my house and there's nothing wrong with that. It's not like you are bonding while you're all sleeping anyways.
My MIL stayed and she became my BEC forever and ever amen. If you can't afford an hotel then maybe you should schedule the visit for another time. I can't have the passive aggressiveness in my home. I'd rather you're out right aggressive. At least then I can tell you bite me without looking like I'm picking on a old lady.
The nice part is that MIL and FIL are loaded, so no guilt about the hotel bills. MIL's absolutely favorite game is "my sons and their wives are so mean, when all I want to do is love them." Funny... Tonight I tried to be a bit passive aggressive with DH and he totally called me on it. I forgot he's immune after growing up with MIL. I also forgot being PA is the worst.
@klondikebar My mom subscribes to the saying, "guests are like fish, they start to stink after three days." I fully agree.
Update. We arrived on Thanksgiving Day this year. SIL and BIL had been there since Tuesday, and SIL told me that when they arrived, they found the turkey sitting the the garage "defrosting." 1. They have mice in the garage. 2. It was fucking tuesday. 3. It was around 50F the entire week.
BIL had to convince his dad to put the turkey in the fridge, even though it would annoy his mom.
