sharebear05 and @wafflesfriendswork, that makes me feel so much better. I think what particularly annoyed me and freaked me out this time was having one turned over to collections...the same month they assured me they were re-filing and not to worry about it! Never had that happen before so glad to know it's not outside the norm. Just annoying how many phone calls it takes to sort all this mess out.

@feegan - That's horribly frustrating! I hope they connect soon. I'd be questioning if it's really a place I'd truly want to work if everything keeps getting dropped. :/
I found out a teacher I used to work with at my previous school just died from cancer. She was barely older than me and she had a little boy. I didn't know her well at all, but I am still very sad about this. Cancer is the MFing worst.

@feegan I dunno if it would impact the logistics of your situation very much. And it definitely doesn't negate the annoying factor of poor/lack of communication...
But we have been having storms for pretty much 3 weeks straight, with just a few breaks. Due to the drought conditions and the sheer amount of water we are seeing now, evacuations due to flooding and mudslides have been rampant. And actually one of the main HWYs that connects the bay area to the Sacramento area was closed due to flooding and erosion for like a week. And the HWY connecting the Sac area to Tahoe in the other direction was closed due to a big mudslide for a while too.
I know a lot of places in some of the more impacted areas have had a lot of closures and staffing issues.
mnj05, it seems like y'all have a lot of PD days! Is there a set number of student days and PD days? This year, we only had PD in the week before school started and then a workday each at Thanksgiving, winter break, and spring break.
We do. We have 9 before school starts, 1 in October, half day in December, 1 in January, 2 in February, and a full day in May when we get out. Only two of those are actually work in your room/planning days. It's frustrating because I feel like most of our days are wasted. I don't get anything I could take back to my instruction.
Ugh, @feegan that's so annoying for you guys! So maybe they didn't realize today is a holiday for most people and they weren't in?
Can he call first thing in the morning? I'm in academia now, and things move slow as molasses. But @officedronette had a similarly slow hiring experience, though I can't remember the exact length.
Accurate. @feegan - I first had an informational interview in mid-March. I got an offer at the very end of May, after three rounds of formal interviews.
